When I was younger, our house use to be quiet then Dad would sneak over to the stereo and play this song. Me my three brothers, two sisters, Mom and Dad would race down to the living room and went wild dancing to this song. You should have seen Mom and Dad get down shaking their booty to this song. They were fabulous and funky dancers. Sadly I lost my parents to a fatal traffic accident. Everytime I hear this song, they are back with me singing, dancing and getting down. 💕❤️💕 I love you Mom and Dad.

Lovely story. I hope they're having a massive party in heaven every day and night. I have 3 left feet but songs like this definitely makes you want to boogie. I don't have my parents anymore either ( both to cancer) so anyone reading this and lucky enough to have one or both parents around tell them you love them. If they're far away phone them and tell them. If you can hold them just cuddle them, look them in the eye and say " i love you" and mean it. One day it'll be too late. Best wishes Neil, Whitchurch, Shropshire, England.

@@arcanask Yeah, you just need to look at the Focus song 'Hocus Pocus' (the Midnight Special version is on youtube) to see it was live on that show - they were told to cut the song down to fit it in the timeslot. They chose to play it at double speed instead, resulting in an impressively manic performance.

Helen Reddy, the woman who introduced Wild Cherry on stage, was one of the most iconic female pop/easy listening singers of the 70's. I see you haven't reacted to her, so it would be great to see you react to "I Am Woman" (her most famous song) and "You And Me Against The World", or any of her other great songs. Her rendition of "Christmas in Killarney" is my favorite catchy holiday song. Sadly, Ms Reddy passed away last September.

I saw a documentary about this song. I believe that these guys were a super talented R&R band and couldn't believe that the simplicity of disco was outshining their music. They wrote this song as a sort of "we'll show you" and it became their only hit.

I have the album this song came from and it's full of funk just like this. Check out I Feel Sanctified, Try A Piece Of My Love or Hot To Trot. They did a lot of funk from what I've heard. The rock I've heard from Wild Cherry is more Little River Band than AC/DC.

I used to go see wild cherry almost every weekend when they were the top cover band in the weirton steubenville area. I couldn't believe this song was wild cherry the first time I heard it, it was going up the charts when I saw them at a local swimming pool, maybe 200-300 people there. I think it hit so fast they still had commitments to fulfill before they could go to playing arenas, I was very happy for them and loved the song.

I grew up in Pittsburgh, not far from where these guys are from. Quite often, they would come to Pittsburgh and play the clubs on Rt. 51, near me. When this song hit, I thought, is this the same Wild Cherry that was just playing down the road last month? Crazy. Anyway, the reason these guys are so tight is because they had been road warriors for years before this song hit big. And, as you know, the more you play, the tighter you get.

That reminds me of the time my sister took her 3 kids to an Aerosmith concert. They were stunned when she put on a cassette tape, of their music, she made from her vinyls, & started singing along. They thought Aerosmith was a new band. When she told me that, I said, "play your Grand Funk Railroad albums for them, they'll really freak out... their mom is a metal-head". She also owned every Beatles album ever cut.

This was one of those tunes that had something for everyone. When this came out people were as divided in their music as politics are today. People beat up on disco lovers and vice versa, it was a hot time in rock history but this song got EVERYONE dancing and forgetting about what was popular, etc. It was infectious and fun. l had a t-shirt that read Death before Disco and l loved the tune. Not enough to buy it, but l enjoyed the hell out of it. Great bass. You move well Jamal.

And in that video, those two black horn players were having a great time (likely did better than the rest of the band....). One of the great one-time hits. Good someone found this.
