Just watched this - great video - love a feed of perch myself in beer batter.. I noticed it gets to be a pain in the butt unhooking those perch and a waste of time having to use pliers especially when you have a school of big ones under you. I had the same problem especially when it's really cold so I switched to a single attached hook on a Forage Minnow. The perch were all over it and unhooking them is very easy. I actually caught my biggest perch on it - a 2 pounder... Love the videos👍

Just got out for the first time this year with my son and had a blast. Used shiners on the tip up and got one small walleye and a decent northern. Bunch of tiny perch and crappies but not bad for the first trip. Love your videos keep em coming!

One single perch lays over 20,000 eggs every other year I think the population is going to be just fine. If DNR thought the population was threatened then they would change the legal limit.

I hear what you guys are saying however.... these gentlemen are within their legal limit. If the legal limit is something that you guys have issues with then it's legislation that you guys have a problem with and not unethical fishing practices. I would suggest writing a letter to your local Alderman or your local DNR office about having those adjusted or having them do a census on the population of whatever lake or body of water is in question. You need a pool noodle the width of your pop up. Makes a great barrier for keeping fish in a stack n from falling back down the holes. Or a bucket. Yup a bucket lol

You can’t beet putting fresh meat in the freezer. We have a few days left of muzzle loader season here in NY and I’d love to put another deer in the freezer. Then ice fishing, if it stays cold. Keep up the good work!

Just wondering if it is just a convenience or time thing as to why don't you bleed them? Ever tried the Japanese ike jime method? I would love to see you compare the typical method to ike jime and see if there is a noticable difference between the meat quality of the two. I have seen many fishermen adopt a hybrid version of this method after trying it so I would love to hear John and Sam's take and maybe what the peanut gallery thinks too (or give them a blind test and see if they can tell which one it which). Interesting for us southerners to see how real normal ice fishing works considering I have never even seen ice like that being from Texas and all. Looks like you guys will be at 150k subs soon. Congrats!
