Awesome, I've been wanting to try out the new app! Any chance you guys might make an app tutorial from the player's perspective? The game can already be a little complicated at times and I always felt like explaining/showing how to use the old app/discord was the biggest roadblock to new players. A link to video that explains only what they need to know on the new app would be a lifesaver.

I was looking for a neat little video to get me jumpstarted with storytelling app games with my group but couldn't find anything so I just waffled through it until I figured it out lol. Hopefully this gives new players the tools required to run their first games properly!
I'd love to see a tutorial on running travellers. I always want to use them if people might need to join late or leave early but I'm not confident enough with them so end up not doing it.
As an added note for people. When doing nominations, you can click the player who is nominating and then straight away click the player they are nominating instead of having to click "nominate player" first. Only small but streamlines things a bit. However if they nominate themselves you do have to click "nominate player" first.
Thanks so much for making this! I have a question about the character sheet and night order sheet: will a dark mode version of these be developed for the app? I am visually impaired, and reading text on a white background is very difficult. It would be great to include a dark mode option for these tabs so it is easier for those of us who prefer/need a dark background.
There is already one available in the app, if you press "C"! It will be white text on a black background and also have a link to a similar themed night sheet.
can I play using the app if I haven't purchased the physical game? And can I be the host using the app, but not the storyteller? (i.e, I have the app, but a different player who used the link to join be the storyteller?) Also, is there a way to get the app outside of patreon?
@@ialsoagree1634 You add an extra Townsfolk to the bag, and at some point before the first night, you as Storyteller decide which Townsfolk is actually the Drunk (use the "Is The Drunk" helper token to note this). Note, however, that If this Townsfolk gets first night information only, you're committing to making them be ultimately unhelpful / useless / unrecoverable, so plan accordingly.
@@ialsoagree1634you should put one more townsfolk and one less outsider in the “bag”. Then deal all tokens and choose a townsfolk to be the drunk instead.
@@ialsoagree1634 late response so you've almost certainly figured this out by now, but you give them the token they received, and add the "is the drunk" reminder token. that way characters like the spy knows what the drunk thinks they are (and you have a reminder as a storyteller)
So the official app as seen on the video is a paid subscription, though for Minion level and above, those subscription tier players may invite anyone with or without subscriptions into their games. Minion level players do not even have to Storytell, as long as they are in your lobby, everyone can join in! ^^ There are other free apps as well to play online, the old Clocktower Online app or the NARA app are ones I recommend. There are also VRChat worlds and NeosVR levels as well, though those are still in active development.
@@MalakaiSilverWolf Thanks. I wouldn't mind paying for this version once and an additional time for the expansion rolls in the future even though I own a physical copy. Hopefully it changes in the future when a full release comes out. I'll stick with the other options for now.
What if I want to shuffle tokens around like the old app? An Empath next to the Demon may not be a desirable starting condition. I understand that the in person game does not allow for shuffling.
How do you quickly start a new game after you finish another? Also, if you accidentally don’t mark someone for death but they had enough votes, is there a way to add it after you close the voting clock hands?
I don't know the first one, but you can always just add a death shroud during the night and announce to the players that you forgot to do it when it happened

It is not. During the beta phase, we're only selling the app through our Patreon page, which you can find in the video's description. It also doesn't work on mobile devices, but that is a feature that will be coming in the future. - Ben

He didn't, he only changed the token he saw after roles went out

We're about to release a feature that lets you assign characters manually. It'll also come with a Fabled token as well.
