@Thrifty Kaniffy To follow up, I had one of these monogrammed for an old, old friend. He liked it a lot. I kept the other and had a buffalo leather slip made for it. The quality of mine - materials as well as fit/finish are near perfect. The pull may only be a 5, but it snaps to each position and is centered. It even came centered. Take a look at the tortoise shell lockback, rr2444; mine came perfect.
Look at my man thrifty comin in with the single blade Barlow!!!! You’ll like that one my friend I like the single blade barlows alot better than the 2 blade I don’t need that little pen blade I’ll take the sleek slender construction thanks buddy be well
That's a heck of a good looking knife. I hope they keep making the single bladed barlow too, they make for a nice carry piece. The shield on this one is awesome! Cheers, buddy!
@@ThriftyKaniffy Yup. I’m buying older ones and the new ones, and avoiding buying any more RTs. Some of the patterns and covers are great, but that big R just disfigures them.
I now have the bow trapper, stockman, and this Barlow in the new series and have had none of the quality build issues you spoke of that your friend experienced. I don’t plan on buying the entire series but may also add the cotton sampler at some point. Thanks for reviewing.
Hi TK, my favourite traditional pattern, for sure... though I have ever only been drawn to the single bladed models, like these 👌 I reviewed the RR Barlow in Cinnamon Bone Stag some months ago now and it was a good one... I seek mostly Sheffield models and occasionally other makes, when I feel they fit in... Cheers 🍺 and thanks for sharing buddy, Atb Gus 👍
I'm a big fan of them as well. Wish I has access to more of the Sheffield stuff or I'd have more like the one you sent, which I treasure. Thanks, Gus. 👍
Nice Barlow . The quality ( with the occasional Q.C. slip up , which is inevitable in mass production ) of Rough Ryder Knives continues to impress , if they maintain / improve the quality in materials / construction , while keeping a reasonable price point , Rough Ryder is well on its way to becoming a leader in the import knife market . A Chinese " Case " .....if you will . Wonderful content , continued success with the channel .
Very much appreciated Michael. The do a repectable job producing all that they do. They won;t be perfect, but I have a lot more patience dealing with issues when I'm paying less than $20 most times and have a solid warranty to back them up.
Mine just arrived in the mail yesterday. Have had the chance to give a good once over but it looks pretty good. Agreed, the series definitely have some teething issues. The only reasons I bought it were the shield and it being single blade. Wish the bolster was squared off. Same light pull, blade centering is about the same, hairline crack on one of the pins. Seems to me the 440B knives do not come as sharp as the 440A.
Agreed there's some QC issues with them as a series. Mostly happy with the Barlow. 440B sample size for me is pretty small, but I'll have a closer look at the blades. Thanks, TG.
This one is made pretty nice, no serious flaws. I've heard about problems with this series, so maybe you got lucky, maybe they tuned their QC. The handle material is nice. Thank you for the review TK.
This series seemed to have a lot issues. Not sure why this one in particular, but it was pretty ugly. The Barlow is pretty good however. Thanks, Jeroen.
If logic holds I would suggest that this pattern remains in the lineup of many future series of RR and perhaps they revisit the Blue Mule series. Thanks, Lewis.
I noticed that. Seems some goop issue from the underliner, but that wasn't an issue here. Seems he just ended up wiping it off in the end. My friends flaws were much more prevalent.
First time I have seen a single blade RR barlow. The tortoise shell scales and shield are enough reason for me to buy it. Thanks TK!
There was a single bladed Cinnamon Stag Bone as well recently. Pretty decent little knife.
I just ordered 2 of them. One will be a gift. Nice little knife.
It's an attractive piece, despite than less than stellar pull. Thanks, Beau.

I like this Barlow with a single blade, handles look good, nice thin look to it, the shell shield very attractive, thanks for showing it!
It is a nice thin design with just the single blade. The shield has nice details. Pretty good knife. Thanks JG.
Not only a great knife and review, but beautiful music also! Thanks for sharing John!
Oh okay, glad you enjoyed the tune. Tis' the season. Thanks, Tom

I'll takem both. A sheepsfoot would put it over the top for me.
@@ThriftyKaniffy yeah I hear ya
Great review as always,I have been doing a marathon binge watching of your videos!
Great content, really like the channel!
Thanks
Awesome, thank you! I appreciate the kind words, Steven. Welcome!

Lots of people like the slim single blade design. I like both, options are good. 👍
Great looking knife! Love Barlow's!!
Me too. I've grown fonder of them this year. Thanks , Mike.
Sweet knife, and I dig the shield. The plain bolsters really class it up. I’m another that wants some variety in blades on barlows.
So refreshing not to have to worry about the dang bolster anymore.
@@ThriftyKaniffy Yup. I’m buying older ones and the new ones, and avoiding buying any more RTs. Some of the patterns and covers are great, but that big R just disfigures them.
That knife would be perfect with a spear point blade. Excellent review TK!!
The Barlow looks great with a clip, spear or sheepsfoot IMO. Thanks Cajunboy.

Thanks for having a look. The series as a whole seemed to be less controled. Good luck.
Yup Id prefer a tad stronger pull as well.
Seems like a simple easy pocket drop
Rather attractive.
The Shield is cool.
Super review. Thank you.
Good looking material and does well to imitate tortoise shell no complaints there. Little lighter pull than ideal, but manageable.
Great guitar music at the end of the podcast! Thank you Brother!
Glad you enjoyed it, Johnny. Cool Barlow too.

Glad you got a good one. I just might roll the dice and get one of these. Great review! I’m like you in preferring a single blade Barlow.
Worth the gamble I figure. Single blade Barlows are sleek and slender pocket droppers. Thanks for stopping in, I know you were busy yesterday.
That looks pretty good for a Rough Ryder!
Barlow on a half shell. Thanks for watching, Martialist.

I also enjoy the shield It’s cool
Funny the irony of the shield, as the shell of a tortoise is his shield too.
I think the Blue Mule collection would benefit from single blade Barlow but I like the look of this one.
If logic holds I would suggest that this pattern remains in the lineup of many future series of RR and perhaps they revisit the Blue Mule series. Thanks, Lewis.
Nice!
Thank you Matthew. Take care.
Nice knife please are pretty good gift knives. Thank you!
They are inexpensive, but certainly good enough to make a fine gift. Thanks for having a look, KJ.
@@ThriftyKaniffy 👍👍🎯🎯
Very nice Brother
Thanks Commando Rusty. It's nice and slim, I kinda like that. Easy pocket dropper.
I have never had an issue with any of their knives ‼️
That's real good. Hope it remains that way, Tom.
Great looking knife Tobias has been having issues too
I noticed that. Seems some goop issue from the underliner, but that wasn't an issue here. Seems he just ended up wiping it off in the end. My friends flaws were much more prevalent.
Thats a handsome, and you wonder why you often get a series that the fit and finnish is bad.my theory is they oem to other companies. Atb paddy.
Hard to say, very well could be. Just know it happens from time to time. Good that this one was well done, Later Tater.
Thanks West.
Watching you is draining my petty cash……!😮😅
I seem to have that effect. Thanks for watching, Bones.
