It’s interesting to me how many people were bored by this in the comments. I’m a brown belt and leg locker, and thought this was a really suspenseful match. The Nadia girl did a great job defending and answering Helena’s attacks. It really came down to Nadia falling one step behind, but she did a great job and her coach was perfect in his coaching.
Great match (to me).
I'm a no-belt grappler, but I still know enough to find it interesting.
I don't think bjj competitions should try to appeal only to people, who have no clue what's going on. It's not a huge spectator sport anyways.

I agree. I thought this was highly technical and fun to watch. Leg locking is an entirely different system and if you aren’t well versed in the systems you can’t see the mathematics and problem solving happening here.
I know it is slow to watch, but I love the way it is so deliberative. Very pure.

I mean if you know what they're doing it's still an interesting game of strategy. It's like saying that chess is unwatchable because there's not enough explosive action lol

I prefer watching a more scrambly wrestly style, but it's interesting seeing a leg lock tactician at work. I mean she took the -1 point and still got the sub, so the strategy worked.
Scrambling wrestling style would get wrecked against either of these girls
@@kalikaputra scrambling can work at the highest levels aka Ruotolos. I mean they're borderline spazzy, but even more controlled people like Mica Galvao or Grace Gundrum chain together different positions and dominate in the transitions
@@julianbassk true but not everyone is like that and they do walk into stuff,just that they know how to counter or exist a bad position well as their style puts them in these positions.

Great match. Crevar kept on the full offensive, and Frankland for long periods actually defended and counter very well for much of the match.
Skills for both are way past mine. Excellent, schooled efforts.
I can tell right at 8:11 who the family of the opponent was... the only people in the room not clapping at the end.

I didn't understand the point you were trying to make with that rugby/American football comparison. I brought it up as an example because it's another contact sport where players with longer hair exist (men or women) and it never stopped them from playing.
When you're getting pressured, pinned, grabbed, it's some hair that will bother you that much. Whether it's from your head or some else's. Don't you agree?

I was trying to make the destinction between wearing a helmet or not with long hair underneath.
You can easily get distracted if your hair is getting pinned to floor or pulled. Unnecessary distraction.
If an American football player runs through all the way to the end line and his/her hair crosses the line it accounts as a bodypart.
A positive few inches.
In volleyball if even a single hair touches the net it counts as a loss in that point.
My point is just put your hair up in a bun or something practical.

Helena's outfit reminds me of Samantha "Valkyrie" Valkenhaus. I don't know if Helena ever saw any of Samantha's matches and took note of the outfit, but it would have been neat if her outfit drew inspiration from Samantha.

If I see two wrestlers that are trying to throw each other for 10 minutes that is real boring. Just consider one thing it is almost impossible to submit someone standing up.
We are not talkin about "only wrestling" or somethin like that here. There is a whole upper body to attack and lock. Yet we only see heel hooks and ass dragging.

Then train somewhere else. I train at a gym where guard pulling is taught to be something you wouldn’t want to do. Takedowns, dominant positions in case of the need for strikes, combat JJ to ensure we use a “MMA guard” style, etc. We absolutely teach leg locks, but you can’t NOT teach them.

The system is almost entirely attack one leg to finish the other, so she’s no doubt chasing reactions to allow locks down the line
Yet she is a champion in several organizations. You aren’t. She trains with Danaher, you don’t. She know more than you do, and has access to more info. Say less keyboard guy. Do not mix sport on mats and violence on street. I believe on street there are no rules and from that reason many jiu jitsu practitioners will release arsenal of restricted techniques. And I believe there are many attackers who want to be on top so guard skills will be very useful.

If you take your leg, from the outside in, above the knee, it should be considered illegal reaping under ADCC rules. Maybe the Enigma Challenge is the enigma of whether it's reaping. 7:56 the triangle really looks above the knee, but she was careful to do it on the side the ref cannot see.
@@softwaredeveloper6791I don’t think there is a reaping rule in ADCC under the professional rule set. There are different rules for beginner, intermediate, and professional. If this was a pro style ruleset then she was fine with her movement
