Canadian band from Victoria ,BC. Formed in 2017 by lead vocalist, Courtney LaPlante, and her husband, guitarist Mike Stringer, after leaving their previous band Iwrestledabearonce. Zev Rosenberg on drums since 2020, and former As I Lay Dying bassist Josh Gilbert joined last year as the touring bassist, don't know if he will become permanent. 1 album and 3 EP's so far. They mix cleans and harsh , with varying percentages, in a lot of their songs. For more: Rule of Nines also has a vocal one take. Holy Roller, Constance, Blessed Be, Rotoscope.
My first taste of Spiritbox was live, I knew nothing about them. Didn’t know what genre or "sub genre" they were, who they were, what they looked like. So when they performed, Courtney was devastating. I was left with my jaw dropped after their set. I uploaded two short clips from that show to my "channel." As for recommendations, I'd say check out the Belcarra music video, Belcarra one take, Rule of Nines one take, then Holy Roller one take. Rule of Nines is my favorite Spiritbox track. Sun Killer, Blessed Be, Electric Cross, Hysteria. Loved your reaction, and I'm glad you liked the song! ✨️
Yay! More people discovering the incredible talents that make up Spiritbox. Yes, Courtney is the frontwoman of the band and she is incredible. Please check out 'hysteria' and 'silk in the strings' by them - these are 2 of my favourite songs right now.
For a very authentic experience try out Tatiana`s voval one-take of "Judgement and Punishment"! 😁 And for Spiritbox, well, another rabbithole! Try out "Blessed be" or for a really treat, the three parts of "The Mara Effect"! Won´t regret this! 🤘
As a singer, the toughest part of this is at the end. Switching from singing to screaming, back to singing, to growling. Most singers don't do it live and hand off the scream to one of the other members in the band.
Definitely not hard on her vocal chords. She’s definitely doing it correctly, but is still often on vocal rest due to another previous issue. The band currently is Courtney, her husband Mike (guitar live/instrumentation writer), Zev (drums live), Josh (bass live). Courtney and Mike were living in Victoria until fairly recently, but have since moved to LA, where their producer is based. Mike and Courtney were also a part of Iwrestledabearonce in the last years of that band. Mike’s first band is callec Fall In Archaea, while Courtney’s old band (with her brother) is called Unicron.
I can NEVER get enough Courtney. She is so natural but completely artistically precise. Everything is 100% intentional. She is amazing.
Holy Roller, Rule of Nines, Blessed Be, Belcarra, Bleach Bath…so many good ones.
Mara Effect Live...

Josh Gilbert is amazing, his vocals are insane. I hope they keep him.
Courtney is amazing. Full stop. Check out literally everything.

I actually like this vocal take better than what ended up on the album.

Yeah.... gotta do Holly Roller!
Josh, please react to "Holy Roller" next! I LOVE that song! 😍

Please please react to the Louder Than Life version with Tati 🙏🏻
This one take video is everything! She so damn talented
Please please check out the live video from Louder Than Life with Tati 🙏
Saw them yesterday in Sydney Aus for our first ever Knotfest, and they were fucking phenomenal! She’s a force to be reckoned with
You're gettin' old? My points of reference are Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Ratt, Metallica when they didn't suck lol. . .
Enjoyed the reaction. :)
Gotta do more Spiritbox. Sun Killer
Yes, she's the singer for Spiritbox and her husband Mike is the guitarist. Holy Roller next.
Holy Roller is so boring
