I'm from Germany and I can remember this game. I was 8 years old and Kahn was my idol. He was just unbeatable in this Tournament before this game, he hold EVERY ball against usa or south korea and he was the reason why germany was in this final. (especially vs. USA, can you Show that, fifa TH-cam team. It is a furious game with the best team USA has had) I can remember, everybody expected in germany that brazil would win because the german team was at this time (compare to today) a junk team. We qualify in relegation and the Tournaments before they didnt played well. Nobody expected anything. Everybody in this team grew beyond oneself. I knew we would win, in my 8 years old imagination Kahn was unbeatable and this moment when kahn slipped that ball at the first goal, my dreams were destroyed. :D But this experience is the reason why i played football in my childhood and why I watch football every week. This brings back so much memories. As a Chinese, first time Chinese national team made it to World Cup grouped with Brazil. The cup game was hosted in Korea and Japan. With the arguably the best team in the history of the football has seen for Brazil, I fell in love with so many Brazil players, whose names just stayed with me forever. Kahn became my favorite keeper and Klose made a fame in this cup and went on to become the highest goal scorer in the history of World Cup. What a time and what a memory. Respect to that generation of footballers.

It was funny, Brazil even went into the tournament as outsiders. Their qualification was very difficult. It's crazy to think about it afterwards considering the key players they had. Argentina and France were the big favourites to win the tournament but they couldn't survive their groups. Early 2000s was a great football era. I remember star players were better spread amongst countries and leagues, and there were plenty of surprises along the way. It was fun. And smaller clubs also managed to have a star playmaker. Overall, I prefer the 2000s over the 2010s which was all about Messi, CR7, and a handful of top clubs.

Brazil 2002 were doing horrendously in their WC qualifiers, and for the people at the times, it's the worst Brazil team that almost failed to qualify. All the big Brazilian names we get to know today like Kaka, Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos, etc... are born because Brazil actually manage to win that WC through sheer will and effort. Without that historical landmark, i bet the Brazil wouldn't be as strong as a favorite in most ppl mind than you'd think.

This World Cup got me back into soccer. In gym class my teacher gave the option of playing basketball or watch the World Cup. I choose option b. Not regrets. Since then I support Chelsea FC, the US team and my home country of Colombia. I love this game and its a dream of mine to go to a World Cup game. I know there are issues with FIFA but this tournament is so special. Not even the Olympics has such amazing fan comradery. Nationality, faith, color etc. None of that matters when this takes place. This brings back so much memories. As a Chinese, first time Chinese national team made it to World Cup grouped with Brazil. The cup game was hosted in Korea and Japan. With the arguably the best team in the history of the football has seen for Brazil, I fell in love with so many Brazil players, whose names just stayed with me forever. Kahn became my favorite keeper and Klose made a fame in this cup and went on to become the highest goal scorer in the history of World Cup. What a time and what a memory. Respect to that generation of footballers.

Remember watching this match as a 6 yo kid. I was on holiday with family, great time, great memories and of course great final :D
It was funny, Brazil even went into the tournament as outsiders. Their qualification was very difficult. It's crazy to think about it afterwards considering the key players they had. Argentina and France were the big favourites to win the tournament but they couldn't survive their groups.
Early 2000s was a great football era. I remember star players were better spread amongst countries and leagues, and there were plenty of surprises along the way. It was fun. And smaller clubs also managed to have a star playmaker. Overall, I prefer the 2000s over the 2010s which was all about Messi, CR7, and a handful of top clubs.

Brazil 2002 were doing horrendously in their WC qualifiers, and for the people at the times, it's the worst Brazil team that almost failed to qualify. All the big Brazilian names we get to know today like Kaka, Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos, etc... are born because Brazil actually manage to win that WC through sheer will and effort. Without that historical landmark, i bet the Brazil wouldn't be as strong as a favorite in most ppl mind than you'd think.

I am a German fan and think they had a miracle run in 2002 and could have won this with Kahn who only conceded once in the tournament to Robbie Keane injury time goal. I recall that nobody anticpated these unlikely teams making the finals. It really could have been won by Germany with outstanding net minding and defence but Brazil took advantage of lucky bounces and Ronaldo. Rising stars Klose had a fantastic start to international which would deliver in 2014.

This World Cup got me back into soccer. In gym class my teacher gave the option of playing basketball or watch the World Cup. I choose option b. Not regrets. Since then I support Chelsea FC, the US team and my home country of Colombia. I love this game and its a dream of mine to go to a World Cup game. I know there are issues with FIFA but this tournament is so special. Not even the Olympics has such amazing fan comradery. Nationality, faith, color etc. None of that matters when this takes place. Yes, there are those who cause trouble but that is a small number compared to those who enjoy it and interact with others from around the world.
Looking back at this footage you can definitely tell how much football has evolved. They are much faster and more technical in today’s day and age.

I always felt he was an ordinary striker who’s reputation became way overblown after scoring in the 1998 Champions League final against Lazio as well as the 2002 World Cup. From the games I saw, he’s mostly a target man who missed a lot of easy sitters. Not really impressive at all.

Legendary strikers like Van Basten and Romario could score alot of goals but Ronaldo could do it all by himself by just dribble and accelerate past the defenders. When he scored in the Uefa Cup-final 98 he already had won Ballon'Dor after scoring 42 goals in 45 matches at PSV and 96-97 34 goals in 37 games at Barca. After his injuries he was never the same but was still a deadly world class striker or else you don't score 8 goals in a single world cup, no one have scored as many in 12 tournaments since 1970.
Also 15 goals & 5 assists in 19 World Cup matches. Klose beated him but has 16 + 5 in 28 matches.

Después de volver a ver este partido tras muchos años, puedo decir que Brasil ganó esta Copa del Mundo porque era un equipo bastante sólido atrás y en el medio campo, contar con Edmilson, Kleberson y Gilberto Silva les daba mucha capacidad de recuperación y movimiento a la espera de lo que hicieran los 3 de arriba Ronaldinho, Ronaldo y Rivaldo, como también les daba soltura a sus laterales, Roberto Carlos y Cafú, algo que pudo emular el mismo Scolari en 2014 ante la ausencia de Neymar y Thiago Silva en las semifinales contra Alemania, pero en lugar de eso prefirió mandar a la guerra a un Bernard muy joven y con poca labor defensiva y dejar muy expuesto a Dante como el sustituto del capitán
Y así los últimos entrenadores han hecho cambios de último momento que han perjudicado los últimos campeonatos de Brasil, Dunga tenía un equipo muy sólido pero tuvo mala suerte contra Holanda en 2010 y por ejemplo Tite falló desde el momento en que decidió retrasar a Coutinho y mandar a la banca a Renato Augusto en la Copa del Mundo de 2018

Can you explain to me what makes Ronaldo Nazario so special? Everyone says he’s the best but personally I don’t see what makes him outstanding. I always felt he was an ordinary striker who’s reputation became way overblown after scoring in the 1998 Champions League final against Lazio as well as the 2002 World Cup. From the games I saw, he’s mostly a target man who missed a lot of easy sitters. Not really impressive at all.
