Great tone and playing! I’ve been playing Finger-style Tele jazz for a long while and you have inspired me to pick up my old YSG NW and get back to my Classical roots - Will take a while to get used to the bigger neck though…Thanks for sharing.🎸🙏
Thank you, Friend! I also had a hiatus from classical playing, only really got back into it having acquired the Silent Guitar. At least the classical neck isn't too much of a hurdle relative to the baseball bat sized neck that is a Telecaster. Delighted to have inspired you to pick it up again!
Hey man, beautiful playing. I'm thinking of purchasing this guitar. Everyone seems to love it. I really enjoy this song too, I added it to my list to learn. Hope you have a lovely day when you see this. Thanks for sharing.
I personally love it - though I'm sure everyone will have different experiences and preferences. I tried mine out first before committing, and I recommend doing so with any guitar if you can!
Thank you! Very kind of you! For the tone settings, yes, all from the guitar's onboard stuff - bass rolled all the way off, dial almost entirely towards the CPU side of the pickup/CPU knob. Just a little external reverb, not that the onboard reverbs are bad at all.
Gus: Just excellent. :) This has inspired me TO NOT....get an Epiphone Emperor Regent, Peerless Wizard, Peerless Monarch, etc. to play this repertoire.I was going to do the standard repertoire on a jazz guitar, but the sound you get is just a positive inspiration. Further, a guitar such as the SLG 200 N or NW will sound even more elegant when "processed" and "produced" through a Boss GT-001 affects processer. Now, THAT would give this guitar the soft, dark reverberant sound that "civilians" associate in their minds with the "Spanish" guitar. :) I am so grateful I came upon your performance of this piece. Best to you. :) Antoine
Thanks Antoine - many thanks for the thoughtful and insightful comment! I agree some further processing will absolutely take it to the next step. I keep it pretty minimal, with sometimes a few tweaks in Logic. Though I can't speak for jazz guitars, and how they would fair with classical repertoire, I'm sure some interesting experiments and comparisons could be done - perhaps with flatwounds? Happy plucking and listening! All the best, Gus
@@GusHackett Gus: Here is a good example of someone playing the standard repertoire on an Epiphone. NOT ALL the repertoire would sound good on a jazz guitar. Here, he is playing "Lagrima". He plays it a bit too fast....so you can slow the speed down to .75. If I may ask, what do you think of his "touch" and the overall sound ? Thank you for your input. :). @@globalonemusic2381 Interpretation aside, I find the guitar tone a little stripped of character for the material, probably due to the flatwounds. Difficult to get a greater depth of dynamics, regardless of how hard you dig in with fingernail or rest strokes. Not my personal preference of sound (I prefer the little errors, the 'scratchier' character of regular wound strings), but it might appeal to others, and may be appropriate for some modern contemporary music.
@@GusHackett I thought so. :) I have played the Yamaha SLGs though excellent sound systems - and even when the sound levels are brought DOWN to a very dark, "smooth", "rich" level the SLG, to most people, will still "sound like a classical guitar", with the more light, natural sound of nylon strings, etc. :) Thank you again for your input. Keep posting these films. They are very good. :)
Hi Friend! I'm afraid I learnt it from standard notation, which I believe is the only available version. I can do a rough tablature score by hand though, for a small fee. If interested, email me at: hackettgus@gmail.com Happy plucking!

Soothing...
Do you recommend this guitar? I think it suits my needs but I want to be sure before I invest

You have the best tone of anyone on youtube using one of these, are you just using the guitar's built in stuff or something external?
Thank you! Very kind of you!

I want to buy a Yamaha silent slg 200 nw guitar

😍
what is the difference between the slg 200 nw and slg 200 n models???
The NW is the same width as a standard classical guitar, 52mm. The N is slightly narrower at 50mm.
Not only neck, but sound also is different. NW is more fuller and round full body sound compared to N.
how did you record this :( !!!! it sounds soooo good!
Thanks Matsuo! Nothing fancy - normal tension d'addario strings, interface, and Logic!
Can i have the guitar tab
