Thank you, friend! Yes, a great piece and a great instrument - thanks for watching! Hugs back from the US!
Great tone and playing! I’ve been playing Finger-style Tele jazz for a long while and you have inspired me to pick up my old YSG NW and get back to my Classical roots - Will take a while to get used to the bigger neck though…Thanks for sharing.🎸🙏
Thank you, Friend! I also had a hiatus from classical playing, only really got back into it having acquired the Silent Guitar. At least the classical neck isn't too much of a hurdle relative to the baseball bat sized neck that is a Telecaster. Delighted to have inspired you to pick it up again!
Very impressive. Ive been trying to play this all day, but i think i need to transcribe some easier finger grips
It's a bit of a brute - definitely take this one slow!
Could you explain to me how to get that tone ? Mine sound like a soulless robot yours sound like a legit recorded acoustic guitar
Bass all the way down, treble all the way up, and a little reverb! 🙂 I use bx Rooms, but I'm sure many reverbs would suffice. The onboard one is pretty good too.
Excellent tone and phrasing. And the slg really sounds great in your hands. Inspiring
Gus, como consigues este sonido con la Silent?
I dial the treble all the way up, bass all the way down, and the blend setting all the way up too (all the way to the 'mic' setting)! I have a reverb I use through Logic too, but the reverb on the silent guitar is pretty good!
YEEEEEEEUUUUURRRGH ❤❤❤
Hey man, beautiful playing. I'm thinking of purchasing this guitar. Everyone seems to love it. I really enjoy this song too, I added it to my list to learn. Hope you have a lovely day when you see this. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, friend! You too! Happy plucking!
Muito bom
Excelente!!!👏👏👏
Hey Gus, amazing sound I guess you are using the mic blend with great technique. I'm considering in getting this model, would you recommend it? did it make you practice more? Greetings from México.
Thank you, friend! Yes, I love using the blend knob - I tend to have it turned all the way up, with the bass knob all the way down, and the treble all the way up. It's a very bass heavy guitar I find, so I try to make it as 'bright' as possible. Would definitely recommend it! I find it very inspiring to play, and I most definitely practise more because of it. Thanks for listening, and happy playing!
I have the same guitar but your playing is proof that the sound is all in the fingers! Beautful!
Finally, now I know the bass notes can be well balanced even on a silent guitar like this. Thank you and congratulations for you performance.
What recording is this from. Great job
Thanks, friend! It's from Joe Pass' live Montreux '77 album.
Bravo!
Very Nice Sir!!!
Super nice :) What's your setup here? It sounds really good, the best I've heard out of a silent guitar. Cheers
Thanks, friend! I run it straight through Logic, bit of Room BX reverb, sometimes a little stock compression, but nothing crazy - the real trick (I find) is to dial the treble all the way up, and bass all the way down on the guitar itself. Happy plucking!
very beautiful... 😍
Very nice, great feeling! What|s your setup on the Yamaha SLG200NW/AMP ?
Thank you, friend! I use a Yamaha THR10C amp on the flat setting - ideal practise amp and interface for me! As for the guitar, I tend to dial the treble all the way up, bass all the way down. SRT/Piezo dial all the way clockwise. A little reverb used through Logic, I believe it's bx_rooMS from Brainworx.
Sweet tone! I have the same guitar but couldn’t get rid of the hissing noise. Is there a secret sauce? 😃
Hi Gus, how do you get rid of the hiss? The tone and audio quality of this recording superb! Any tricks? Cheers!
Hi Friend! No tricks I'm afraid! I found my setup doesn't make any hiss - I'm going from the guitar, straight to my interface (Yamaha THR10C amp), into Logic. No noise gates or compressors etc. It could be something as simple as the lead you're using, or maybe even a factory defect with the guitar? Try using the batteries to power it too, as opposed to the power supply, see if that helps! Good luck, and thanks for listening! Gus
@@GusHackett Thanks Gus!
Lovely lovely lovely music!
Lovely playing!
Displaying a clear knowledge of the piece, technical proficiency & generally lovely playing
Shame about the tanktop though
Lots of interesting technical elements, very soulful, soothing tune
Talented guitarrista
Yisssssssssssssssssssss
Absolutely gorgeous, what a guitarist!
Beautiful playing
When you do the line before the Dmaj, it sounds like you add a fifth beat, but you later compensate. Genius
Ahh, thank you! My internal rhythm is often not the greatest, so it wouldn't be beyond me to take/add beats - but I'll take genius!
Absolutely love the feel of the G&L tremolo action. Great vid!
Hey, you can make it sound pretty nice! I want to buy one guitar like yours, but I would like to know if it sound that good in real life. Can you please share your experience playing live with us? It would help me a lot to decide. Many thanks in advance! And congratulations! Your music and playing is beautiful!
Thank you friend! I personally love the sound of the Yamaha SLG200NW - although the imitation of the classical guitar they have onboard is a little heavy on the bass, tweaking with the dials on the side definitely helps give a great sound. I would try one out in a store first, with the amp you use at home! I use a Yamaha THR10C for home practise, which sounds pretty good on the flat setting. Good luck, and happy plucking! Thanks for watching!
Dude....the phrasing....👍
Amazing
So cool
Beautiful!!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Do you have score or tabs?
I’m afraid not! There is an old tab form lurking around on TH-cam somewhere, and various people have done renditions - bit of a listening exercise asides from that! Good luck, and thanks for watching!
Wonderful!)
Ripping. Nice work.
Thanks, friend!
Hi there Gus. I just got the same model of Yamaha yesterday. That's what led me to your channel. Any comments or suggestions about the setup of the instrument itself? I really like it overall, but it feels so oddly disconnected from the physical resonance part of playing .....going to be an adjustment. Again, great playing, and such clarity in your chord transitions. 👍
Hi Sean! Yes, I definitely found there was an adjustment process too. On the settings, I've personally found the default to be VERY bass heavy, so I compensate by turning the treble all the way up, and bass all the way down. The truss rod needed a little tweak on mine too. As for the lack of depth, I've found that bracing a stiff cushion behind the body can give it a bit more 'body' to push against. Might take some experimenting depending on the position you play in. I've found playing with headphones for a little while helped me really get attuned with its nuances. Asides from that, happy plucking, and thanks for watching! Gus
good 👍 beautiful~
Thank you!
oh very beautiful play 👍
Thank you!
Really beautiful, thank you! Good lesson.
Thank you!
Great work and wondefull sound! Thanks for your nice interpretation.. What strigns Brand/type/tension you used? Thxs
Thank you, friend! I believe these are the D'Addario normal tension Pro Artes. I recently experimented with high tension Savarez, as I used them as a student, but definitely prefer the lower tension strings. Probably the brand too, personally. Happy plucking, and thanks for listening!
Beautiful!
Very nice. I once played Wave at a concert on trumpet. Great playing.
Badass!
Nice work! Congratulations!
Thank you, friend!
Sweet!
Hi Gus! Just curious about your recording setting. Is this directly plugged to an audio interface or using a mic on a speaker? I'd appreciate your response on this matter. Nice playing though! Cheers! - Lex P.S. I'm planning to acquire one of this silent guitars that's why I'm on a hunt for reviews and performances.
Hi Lex! I plug directly into my interface, and run through Logic. My interface is a Yamaha THR amp, so playing it through the amp also sounds pretty good to my ears. I would argue that the sound of the guitar is excellent, though a little generous on the bass end. Hope you get a chance to try them out, see what you think! Happy shopping and plucking!
