A video lesson about the contemporary blues harmonica technique of overblowing. With Adam Gussow of Modern Blues Harmonica.
This lesson won't teach you HOW to overblow. It will offer you insight into the personal journey of one player who has been overblowing for more than 25 years, suggesting obvious and non-obvious ways that you might add overblows to melodic lines.

Adam Gussow is a treasure in the harmonica community. Aside from being an inspiring, badass of a player, he's also the preeminent harmonica educator on the internet. If anyone deserves accolades for the advancement of the instrument, this is the man!

Great Adam😀I❤️it. You are the king of improvisational, funny, crazy, brilliant, creative and unique teaching. Your explanation of the 3 tone one hole 4 beat riff (that I love) I will never forget🙏🏻

TOTALLY taking that "shredder" lick. Nice way to tie things together. Thanks, Adam! This stuff DOES give you energy. It's very satisfying to play and sound different.

Those are some great licks! You mentioned your work on Big River on another video about the bluesiest harp key. I hope some day you break down what you played on a D harp in Big River.

I know this comment is five years late, but; the last triplet lick is a three over four polyrhythm.

I'm just getting this, and it's like learning to whistle. In my head "overblow" implies "over try" when what it really means is a "half-step bend." BTW: I am beating the hell out of Hohner C "Blue Midnight" that has outlasted several Special 20s on this journey.
