This is the Time for unity so that we can forge ahead. As an ukwuani man that i am, i dont have any problem being identified as an igbo man. But i don't want to be second class citizen in any formation.
It is what it is, a few disgruntled Ukwuani people can't stop the majority from doing the right thing just because they are lazy and fearful of igbos harding and successfulness. I'm Anioma myself and lived with lots of Ukwuani people and they all identified as igbo though our tone or accents different but we're all igbos. And Anioma state will help in unifying us all as Ndi igbo.
The same thing in the east when you go down to east igbo land you will hear different igbo dialect as iam writing to you I have my own dialect different from other villages closed to my own village or community so tomorrow I say my community is not igbo biafra tribe land that we are a single tribe that is big NO

Ukwu-ani means Big -land. It can be pronounced Ani-ukwu. It is undeniably Igbo word. See other names like, Enu-ani.
Being aligned with the Southeast doesn’t take away anything from the uniqueness of Ukwuani.

I have two Ukwuani friends. One is from Emu Uno, the other one is from Ogbagu in Ogume. Both never agree that they are Igbos, particularly the one from Emu Uno.
I presented a book written by Anioma person about the origin of both towns. Historically, Ogbagu Ogume (not the entire Ogume kingdom) migrated from Nri. According to history, the founder of Emu Uno migrated from Nsukwa.
On a certain day, the Emu Uno man spoke in his dialect on phone and I interpreted all that they discussed. The man was shocked.
The problem most of Ukwuani and Ndokwa people have is lack of exposure and ignorance.

No, the problem is that Igbos accross the Niger claim that Anioma Igbos are inferior to them. So they don't want that mindset rather they prefer to be alone or rather join the Benins who accepts them as equal partners in Bendel.

ukwu ani means lower land while the other is enu ani means higher land .. it's just north and South in Igbo language... Ukwu ani is not Big land..

Azuka, why not include the Urhobo and Isoko as part of Igbo community and probably a part of the Anioma state. Urhobos and Isoko, based on the interview Nnaa Mehn TV had with some of them, claimed to come from Nri in Anambra state. To add insult to the fake history, the Isoko man claimed that the Oba of Benin is the third son of Nri. If you have not seen the interview, ask Nnaa Mehn TV to send a copy of the video interview.

The word igbo has no meaning in Igbo language, but in Yoruba, it means forest. Igbos, as a people, are not original native of Nigeria. Igbos migrated from Equatorial Guinea to Nigeria. Igbos also have no historical Kingdom. Oba of Bini owns Onitsha while Igala owns Enugu and most places currently called Alaigbo. Igbos are never original owners of anywhere in Nigeria but migrants from Equatorial Guinea.

However, I'll list just few things you and anyone following our exchange can verify on google search. Below are a list of few things that proves Igbo ancient kingdoms and activities that are far older than anything carbon dated in the whole of Yoruba land.
1. The iron slag deposits in Lejja, Nsukka area of Enugu state. This was a iron smelting site for ancient Igbo blacksmiths who were popular in the lower Niger area. It was dated between 2000BCE and 200 CE. Nothing in your Yoruba land comes close to that in age.
2. The Igbo Ukwu bronzes. The bronzes were discovered in the town of Igbo Ukwu, Anambra state. Those bronzes are consistent with spiritual paraphernalia of Igbos around the territory and were dated 900CE. This is older than anything ever carbon dated in Yoruba land. Check online for pictures and more information.
3. Igbos have been recorded in history since the 15th century by explorers who visited Bonny at the time. They didn't spell Igbo correctly but were not in doubt of the people they were writing about. Many names which sounded like Igbo was used. Examples include words like the Hackbous, Heebos, Eboes, Eebos etc
4. The first person who ever traced his ancestry to present day Nigeria and wrote about it in a book which was published in English was an Igbo. His name was Olaudah Equiano. He wrote the book in the 1700s and payed for his own freedom which helped him to work as an abolitionist.
No Yoruba person wrote and published any book in any language before that time. The first Yoruba person to do it did it in the 1800s.
I can continue to list more and more of what shows we are your seniors but it would appear I came here to boast. We are older than you and have more claim to the land in Nigeria if there's anything like that. Therefore, don't ever in your life write nonsense about Igbos again before Amadioha strike you.
Finally, Igbo was derived from Ndi gboo which means the ancient ones. It eventually was shortened to Igbo over time and has usage all over Igbo land. Many communities across different parts of AlaIgbo have it attached to their community names. Examples are
1. Igbo Ukwu.... Anambra state
2. Igbo Etche.... Rivers state
3. Igboere.... Abia state
4. Igbo akiri (Igbanke).... Edo state
5. Igboeze.... Enugu state
6. Amaigbo.... Imo state
7. Akwukwu Igbo.... Delta state
8. Obigbo.... Rivers state
As you can see, Igbo is an indigenous name all over Igbo land with a meaning which is why many communities attach it to their names. Does it sound like a English created name?
There are also many Igbo names with Igbo as a root word. Few examples are
1. Igbokwe
2. Igboanugo
3. Igbonanu
4. Obidigbo
I challenge you to mention just one Yoruba community with the word yoruba attached to it. I also challenge you to mention just one Yoruba name with Igbo attached to it.
Clearly, the word Yoruba means nothing in Yoruba language which is why there are no Yoruba communities bearing it or using it in their names.
I know the origin of the word [yoruba] and can defend it here.
As you can see, Igbo are your seniors. Next time, show us the respect we deserve.
Igbo means older, ancient as in Ndigbo olden days people. They are the oldest people in the face of this planet earth
