Based off of a manga. The card game wasn’t made until part way through the anime, and the reason it’s such a big thing is due to filler- Kaiba was meant to be a one-off character, and Duel Monsters a game of the week, but executive meddling struck and that’s probably the only reason it ever got as big as it did, really- it probably wouldn’t‘ve come to America, and definitely wouldn’t‘ve been as long lived without it. Have you ever seen/heard him in one of the live duels at Real Life Yu-Gi-Oh tournaments? It's obvious he loves playing Pegasus and has a blast voicing him.
I'm with you on that for sure. The lack of cameos from any of the original characters is quite saddening. In most cases for shows it can be distasteful to the story but for yugioh it can only make it better. Yugi making an appearance and whipping the floor with each new main protagonist would of been great at some point, to show them the heart of the cards and power of friendship and all that good bs he preaches. It would have really advanced all of their characters much faster.
Honestly speaking, Yugi's deck was full of crappy cards but cards during that time were crappy. Back then there were only few fusion cards and rarely any good monster cards so you can't really blame him
I won't deny that he made a great deck out of a game still in its baby steps, but saying that he would beat any of the newer protagonists is farce. E-HEROes, Junk Stardust, and Utopia (for mostly the wrong reasons) would clean the floor with him.
You know you made it as a top villain when you have a sick theme song...One of my favorite villains is Pegasus! I loved this song when it first came out and still love it to this day!

For everyone reading the comments about James and Pegasus, they are NOT the same voice actor. James is voiced by Eric Stuart while Pegasus is voiced by Darren Dunstan. Just to clear up any confusion there may be. :)
I remember that I would frequent the old Yu-Gi-Oh website back in the day and listen to all the sample songs. I would ligit fall out of my chair and bolt out of the room because of Pegasus' voice... Sounds stupid, but give me a break, I was 7 or 8 at the time and Pegasus scared my sorry ass so bad back then. But now a days, this gal is quite happy to listen to his singing. (It doesn't help that I sometimes picture James singing this instead Pegasus...) XD
Hmm, I loved Yu-Gi-Oh, Inuyasha, Dragon Ball Z, and Cowboy Bebop, growing up. They were awesome, along with Gargoyles. And, for those who call us "nerds" or "dorks": Kiss our asses. right in the Cracks. :). These shows were awesome, and I made some excellent friends through them, both in school and in adulthood. :).
Haha. Well, Inuyasha is my second, after Dragon Ball Z. At least, in action-wise. But, in story wise, Inuyasha is awesome. Loved the whole relationship between him, Sesshomaru, and their father, the Inu no Taisho. In fact my desk top on my laptop is him, wielding the third sword from the third movie. :).
You know... I wonder how good a duellist Pegasus is now, without his eye he still knows litteraly anything of Duel monsters. And has every card and more, maybe he could even be a challenge for yugi

Funny how they took a character who in the original version was intended to portray the quintessential "Southern gentleman" (with a name to match, Pegasus J. Crawford) and turned him into a very snooty New Englander type speaking with a thick Locust Valley lockjaw.
"Face up, Face down, Play your strongest card!" Pegasus' Thousand Eyes Restrict copies the attack of an opponent's monster! Of course he'd want you to send out your strongest! How did I never understand that genius lyric!?

Have you ever seen/heard him in one of the live duels at Real Life Yu-Gi-Oh tournaments? It's obvious he loves playing Pegasus and has a blast voicing him.
He's also Don Zaloog in GX which Pegasus does make a cameo in too.
Screw all the other villains and the manga, Pegasus lives and is the greatest Yugioh villain ever
TobisaruJC Bakura would like a word
I mean, he created the fricking GAME
Face up face down, you just described the entire ghostrick archetype :D
lol XD
also the Invincible Fortress deck
Also accurately describes Subterrors.
Or Shaddoll to an extent.
Great voice actor.
Love how Pegasus says to play your strongest card when his best cards steal the opponent's monsters to use as his own.
Seeing all the YGOTAS references makes me feel tingly in my pants.
Me too 8D
yep
It torments my Obelisk, too.
+supergamer985 lol I see what you did there 😂
I'm glad someone did. :3
Fun fact, Darren Dunstad (voice of Pegasus) was Giovanni in the Pokemon Broadway Musical
I dislike the lack of presence of Pegasus in the whole Yugioh series
I'm with you on that for sure. The lack of cameos from any of the original characters is quite saddening. In most cases for shows it can be distasteful to the story but for yugioh it can only make it better.
Yugi making an appearance and whipping the floor with each new main protagonist would of been great at some point, to show them the heart of the cards and power of friendship and all that good bs he preaches. It would have really advanced all of their characters much faster.
+Byakugan888 That would work if Yugi's deck wasn't trash compared to more articulate decks of later protagonists.
Gold Rush Lets wait for YGO movie that is coming in 2016 with Kaiba and Yugi
They might have a deck makeover
As long as I live, I will never forget this song.
Oh Maximillion Pegasus has such a beautiful singing voice, it's so alluring, hypnotic, beautiful, charming, he could sing to me anytime.
Oh I adore Pegasus! I have the biggest crush on him and Pharaoh Atem. I wouldn't mind being face down for him. 😍😍
You know you made it as a top villain when you have a sick theme song...One of my favorite villains is Pegasus! I loved this song when it first came out and still love it to this day!
OH HOLY MOTHER OF- PEGASUS SINGING!? MY WEEK IS MADE.
Me too@!!!
this song is also known as the "i'm playing mind games with you and loving every bit of it"
This song froze my computer! He starts singing and my computer couldn't take it!! No joke.
This has been the most spicetastic 4 minutes ever
coming from 4kids, this song is surprisingly kickass!
3fatkid *drags in the whole show, One piece and pretty much any theme they made*
Someone forgot they made the English opening theme for Pokemon, didn't they?
@@thomastakesatollforthedark2231 not the whole show
@@thewanderingmistnull2451 they didn't, they outsourced the creation of the pokemon theme which they used for the show.
4kids are good at theme songs
WHAT THE FUDGE????!!!!!, I DIDN'T KNOW THIS WAS A REAL SONG! sorry I'm just so shocked I thought someone made it up the tune, thank you sooo much for proving me wrong.
+jade deaden and how dose it sound
I honestly don't know how to describe it, jus that its awesome and I want to play it over and over again.
Pegasus was and still is my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! character... He's so classy... among other amazing qualities....
I kinda want a Yu-Gi-Oh rockopera now.
That would blow my mind
A yugioh musical would be the best thing ever
Yugioh Live doesn't actually kinna sound bad.
I just imagine yugi and the dark magician sorounded by a bunch of evil toon monsters. That should have been a thing.
DarK PAladIN now I want to see that
This was and still is my favorite soundtrack out of all the songs on the cd even back in 2002. Darren Dunstan has one epic voice.
For everyone reading the comments about James and Pegasus, they are NOT the same voice actor. James is voiced by Eric Stuart while Pegasus is voiced by Darren Dunstan. Just to clear up any confusion there may be. :)
Pegasus: So delicious the anime let him survive his battle with Bakura.
I just melt when I hear this song. I'm such a Pegasus & Kaiba fangirl.
Hmph hmph hmph hmph
Playing as Pegasus in Dual Links be like...
just imagine start the duel with that line 1:04-1:14
Pegasus is just so friggin' fabulous. xD
As if Pegasus wasn't creepy enough. This song's almost enough to give me nightmares. *shudders*
Lindsey York, I just love this song, and I think that Pegasus has such a beautiful singing voice, it's so wonderful, haunting, and hypnotic too.
He does, but the song's still creepy.
Lindsey York, I think his singing is wonderful, I could listen to him sing all day long.
I never said it wasn't, it just gives me the creeps, is all.
I don't find Pegasus very creepy, in comparison to what came after, still the song is a good villain song, and it really fits him.
Sounds like james
becase it is him
+mahmoud wattar no it's not
oh ok
"Screw the rules, I'm in love with Nurse Joy"
I know but pegasus was voiced by darren dunstan james was Jimmy zoppi and eric stuart :P
munku121 Yea.
"Ooooooohh I'm face down just another Friday night for Maximilian Pegasus hahaha.....I'm dead"
Littlekuriboh As Pegasus 😂😂😂
Oh God, Pegasus's Voice Is Just So Haunting, Beautiful, and Charming Too.
Ahh, still oh-so happy to find that I STILL can't find an anime to replace you guys Yu-Gi-Oh and Zatch Bell! No anime can't defeat you guys!
How about Inuyasha, Dragon Ball Z, Cowboy Bebop, or Sailor Moon?
munku121 nope
Trinity Southway Lol. Well, at least we both like Anime. Albeit, we have different tastes. But, I loved Yugioh as well. :).
to be frank,
sailor moon is like, my third favorite while inyuyasha is my first
He says Yugi-boy, and its so dripping with sadistic elitism that its just...
"Yugi-boi, you absolute twink, you neogoth egyptian fuccboi, whatchu gonna do?" 😂 Like pegasus is a bastard and I love it.
Funny how they took a character who in the original version was intended to portray the quintessential "Southern gentleman" (with a name to match, Pegasus J. Crawford) and turned him into a very snooty New Englander type speaking with a thick Locust Valley lockjaw.
"Face up, Face down, Play your strongest card!"
Pegasus' Thousand Eyes Restrict copies the attack of an opponent's monster! Of course he'd want you to send out your strongest! How did I never understand that genius lyric!?
I know Pegasus is a villain and I didn't really liked him but when they gave him the backstory of his wife, I did feel sorry him.
I remember when I was just a little kid and I used to listen to this CD in my car
ROFLMAOOOO 18 years later and yugioh still surprises
Sadly the new stuff doesn't feel like it used to , its changed too much.
I remember the CD that had this song. Forget where I got it.
May the creator of Yu-Gi-Oh now forever lay face up in the graveyard. Rest in Peace.
one of the best songs ever made for such a franchise
OMG, Maxamillion Pegasus has such a beautiful singing voice.
"Welcome all you foolish nerds, to the gayest spectacle in the world, I'm making a count in this movie, I'm more handsomer in 3D."
+Hannah H20 making a cameo
+Hannah H20 That's great, I'm making a Dracula. May need your Count later
+Hannah H20 Not trying to seem rude, but he doesn't say handsomer. He actually says "I'm much more fabulous in 3D."
Hi
"I can sense you coming Kaiba-boy.. and when you get here, I'm going to spice up your life!"
I had this and I think two other songs on a tiny Yu-Gi-Oh cd pretty crazy I still have it
Damn, this is such a throwback lol! I listened to this album so many damn times lol
2017, yu gi oh rules!!!!
2018. Yu-Gi-Oh!'s starting to go to shit. Too many hand traps, too many meta players. At least we got Monster Reborn back.
Face-up! Face-down! Attack or Defend!
There's a reason why a lot of people love the goat format.
The guy who voiced pegasus also played giovonni in pokemon live
It may sound a little creepy but it is still really good.
I was listening to this on Soundcloud and the song that played next was a raunchy song called "Ass Up Face Down"
i watch this with my lil sis every saturday thank god for them coming back with good cartoons
"Wait, is this James?"
...
"Wait, James is Pegasus?"
I like how it uses the same stock industrial sound effects from the early Bionicle music
Of course Pegasus has a song called Face Up, Face Down. What’s next Top or Bottom?
is there an instrumental version of this song anywhere?
This song is straight fire.
the english version is so much better than the french one. Instead of that, the french version of your move sound better to my ears than the english one
Imagine if somebody made a Yugioh themed musical and this is one of the musical numbers.
I can just see the backup dancers as a Pegasus actor sings on the stage lol
I’m not normally a stage play guy, but after hearing this song, a musical battle between Him and the Pharaoh would be fire. 🔥
Konami. Silent Hill. 😂
I used to listen to this song while on Dueling Network lol
Face up, face down, that's the way I like to DUEL!
2:47, the first two lines were all I could remember. Thankfully I found the song it goes to.
THIS SONG GOT LOST FROM MY MEMORY OMG IM SO GLAD TO FIND THIS AGAIN
This is some divinely supreme cheese. I'm loving it.
Only Pegasus is polite enough to refer to you as his friend, while stealing your soul.
... My... God... That's awesome!
From what I can find, they're not the same VA - but here's a fun fact; ALL of James' voice actors have played a role in Yugioh; amongst the characters, Bakura, Jack Atlas, Weevil Underwood, and Bandit Keith (... In America...)
So this song is both unrepentantly stupid and incredibly awesome.
