    A great heads up on this radio and options associated with remote and replicated display software. Thanks for taking the time to produce. 73 de GI8WFA.

    Just replace the SMD inductor on the Minikits coupling pcb with a wirewound inductor at 90 degrees to give better coupling

      What sort of improvement in the locking range?

    High, N6GRG here, I"ll need to check my list of VKs to see if I've communicated via JS8CALL with you. Its becoming a large list. My question is, is it possible to have a dual pl/ctcss tone with a 9700.. We have a repeater system here which utilizes two tones on each repeater for various reasons, and one "side" of the repeater needs to rx decode with one tone and tx encode with another. Maybe one of the guru's in your group would know ?

      I think the 9700 has this feature. TONE in the menus is set for the transmit encode tone, TSQL is the tone for the receive decode. You should be able to go into the menu and hold these buttons to set the appropriate tone freq. I hope that helps

      @@HamRadioDX Ok, hopefully the tsql tone can be different than the TONE (tx tone). I guess he will see with the programming software ? What is the name of the software ? Asking for a friend. (he may know but I wanted to seem like I had a handle on this , thanks.

      What will you be using the radio for Ruko?

  • @Ei2iP

    I have one on the way , but not sure if to use it for Satellite ops, or SSB only..

    • @HamRadioDX
      @HamRadioDX  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Use it for both! The rig is so versatile. Sats are heaps of fun but so is SSB when it opens

    I'm adding a comment left by a reviewer, could you confirm the following?, "for digital work this radio is not a good option at all. Frequency stability is poor as the fan cycles. Further, and this is for me a show stopper, you can't do 9600 baud thus, all the satellite digital stuff is now off the table. If you have a radio that will operate with 9600 baud FT8 or any of the digital modes, either keep it and use this one for SSB CW where it shines, or don't change radio's yet." I know almost Nothing regarding Satellite Communications.

      I saw this same review on DXE, but I saw plenty of others that were positive. I’ve just picked up my 9700 this week, so I have a lot to learn about it. I believe that the 1.31 firmware update addresses the drift issue, but I have no way of confirming this yet. I do plan on using FT8 on 2M within the next week or so and will see how the digital modes work out on this radio.

      OPTION: Strap the fan to run at a SLOW speed - like we did with the IC-706 series and it minimizes the drift for like WSPR ...

    I must agree it's a great radio but it's wasted in the UK especially in the southeast everyone just sits there and listens, very few calls anywhere.

      @@HamRadioDX Yes, that's what I felt when using my IC-7100 as a reference receiver to find out what was going on. Offering 1 Hz tuning steps while not able to hold 80 Hz... That's really a joke.

    how do you activate the crossband repeat on the ic-9700?

    • @Doonit_hard_way_since_65
      @Doonit_hard_way_since_65 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't have that feature. I know, unbelievable, especially since the el-cheapo generic 150$ wonders on Amazon do x-band repeat. Somehow Icom decided to omit that feature.
