Thank you for releasing this video! Really helpful! My noob self kept thinking that i was only limited to 720p through USB streaming (because of what a lot others said). Did not know you can select up to 4k even on USB streaming on the mark 2! this is a gamechanger!
Hey, thanks for the great video! I am connecting my zve10 with an hdmi+capture card, but I also want to connect the usb C to constantly power the camera. However, when I connect the usbc cable, the camera goes into mass storage mode and I don't want that :( Is there a solution?
@thinkmediatv ill be plugging camera in via usb c and my mic goes through an audio interface, if I use streamyard I wont have any sync issues between video and audio will I?
Awesome. It's crazy how good the ZV-E1 looks as well. Even natively on TH-cam stream itself, you can barely tell it's even a stream. Throw the trusty, underrated Ulanzi fan on it - and you're set!
You could if you were gaming or something, but most people would want 30fps because it looks way more normal for interviews, coaching calls, zoom calls, etc.
I have a Sony A6400 with a Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 lens, and I’m planning to start shooting talking head videos indoors. I’m considering replacing the Sony A6400 with either the Sony FX30, Sony A6700, or Sony A7C II, but I’m totally confused about which one to choose. I haven’t shot any videos yet. Should I upgrade the camera and lens now, or wait a few months until I build a base audience for my TH-cam channel before upgrading?
We’d encourage you to make the videos first. The A6400 is a great camera and is totally a viable option in 2024. Try to make 10-20 videos so you can see what your tech limitations are and then you could maybe upgrade. Biggest thing is to just start making content though!
Would've been good to mention the specific usb-c cable type, because i've got 3 im trying to use and the cameras not ok with any of them to stream above the 720 - 25p mark
When I try to connect the camera to my PC via the micro HDMI port, the camera’s screen switches off. Do you know how to fix this? Thank you for the really helpful video!
You didn't explain pros and cons for the two different streaming options: USB or HDMI. I saw that the recommended HDMI capture card had 1080p as output, which is a very much lower resolution than what you can get through USB. And with USB you can also power the camera, and hence have the most simple setup... Appears to be only pros for USB streaming. What are the cons of streaming (and powering) through USB ? Perhaps overheating ??? Please make a follow up video!
The results are.... ok, I think really the only viable option for APS-C at the moment is the old Sigma 16mm f/1.4, everything else is too narrow for webcam, or doesn't add all that much separation/bokeh. Something like the Viltrox 23mm f/1.4 looks good, but then you have to be quite some distance from the camera, which isn't very comfortable for webcam use. I wasn't super happy with the results so I sent it back and opted for the Sony ZV-E1 with a Viltrox 24mm f/1.8, it's a LOT better but also more expensive.
@@VortexStory yes but the kit lens gives you almost the same background/foreground separation (bokeh) and dynamic range as an iPhone 15Pro, so there’s not much point to using it, just use a decent phone. Yes the zv-e1 is more expensive but you can get an a7c if you want a similar price point.
@@ThinkMediaTVdon’t get me wrong it’s a fantastic general purpose lens but if you’re after that distinct background blur, the 16mm f3.5 is not a big improvement over an iPhone’s APS-C equivalent of 16mm f/4. That sigma 16 is also good but feels a bit bulky and dated these days. Great videos though, thank you!
Please show overheat tests without recording to the SD card. IMO USB-C webcam functionality “should” be the future of streaming because there’s less clutter/accessories.
@@ThinkMediaTV 4yrs ago I bought a Canon M50 based on Sean's recommendation. 2yrs ago, after all my M50 lenses were stolen coming back from Spain, I bought an R7 with a kit lens. I've since upgraded that kit lens to a Sigma EF 18-35mm F1.8. Now I'm waiting on the new Sigma and Tamron RF lenses, especially the 10-18mm F2.8. What I'm saying is there are quite a few of us that are in different cameras with different setups. I know multiple creators who are using R5's or R6MkII's for video. Asking the questions like is the R7 or R10 still relevant and when should you upgrade your camera? What about the R50 and R100 with the new Sigma lenses? Alls I know is if I see Sony in the title, the video isn't worth my time and I know I can't be the only one who invested in Canon over the years based on the great information from this channel.
@@BetterHealthBetterMan Sure, but 1/50s, lowest aperture the lens has, ideally use the camera's native ISO and make sure you have enough light to match the exposure you prefer, ideally 60+/10 zebras for skin exposure (adjust slightly if you are dark or light skinned). It is all easy to do regardless of the system. Then this goes into an HDMI encoder which shows up as a webcam on your laptop/desktop.

Yep 100%. Just gotta make sure to snag that high data speed cable 👍
720p was only the original E10.
@KlemensKolloverja-vm2hhneed to use thunderbolt cable
I just bought my new ZV-E10 II and I 'm wondering if there are any downsides to using the USB-C to stream and just pass on buying the capture card?

Which output is cleaner? Usb C or 4k Capture card micro usb?
Both honestly look really good.
Is there a minimal stand for using the cam as a webcam? A tripod is too bulky for my desk.
Thanks for the video, I'm in Australia and we only have 25, 50 or 100p for frame rate? best one for 1080 streaming?
Thanks for the video. Does the 4K streaming only work with the HDMI via the Elgato CamLink setup? or can you do that with the USB C?
You can 4K stream with the USB C cable as well

1:19 why not set frame rate at 60p?

The link that yall have for the highspeed USB-C data cable is incorrect it goes to the "uni USB C to HDMI Cable 10ft 4K@60Hz" cable..

You need a USB C cable that can do at least 5gbps per second. I have recently had the same issue so went on ebay and found one mpw its all sorted :D
Does anyone use this for top down live streaming or videos?

The biggest con is overheating with usb-c, and we explain that in the video when we talk about all of the recommended accessories 👍
@@ThinkMediaTV Thanks!
Thank you for this. Excellent detail and explanation.
Glad it was helpful!
I record the videos with my phone. I don't have money now, but I will definitely buy it later when my channel grows

will this tut work for the normal zv-e10??
It’s a little different, but we have a video for that th-cam.com/video/avxeAJ3_OmI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ukYXLspAry21TPwr
Can you use the usb c cable for both streaming and power?
Yes
Yes!
yes please more how to videos !
You bet!
I do not get that screen to select USB connect mode. Any suggestions?
Try a different cable and another port on your computer.
The cable may not support the feature
Can someone tell me how much is the camera?
I just started my channel and i hope we small TH-camrs could get there.
Same
$999 (USD)
