Funny how Antonio's phrases stick in your head. I was doing woodworking and while installing the hinge on the lid a screw head broke off and left a piece deep in the hole. F$&#! After exploring all my options I thought "There is nothing more to be done here....". 😬
I sometimes think "what's the idea here" when I'm mentally exploring how to progress with woodworking projects.

What's even more exciting about this game, it happened right after Hikaru raided Danya's stream. He was so hyped, he started to full around and do impressions of chess players (and, i think, of Agad as well).
And he played this very game while doing so and thanking the chat for all the subs and donations. It seemed like he could barely focus so seeing 98+ accuracy now is mindlowing multitasking.

Accuracy is misleading. If the other opponent plays bad, you are almost always guarenteed a high accuracy. I play in the 98% accuracy often against low rated players and for sure I am not that accurate at 1550-1650 rating.

The way the accuracy is calculated wouldnt mean much because you can have bad accuracy in the middle game but have a perfect endgame of 20+ moves and end up with high accuracy, or vice versa

1:19 - “smothered mate” is sweet, but I initially spotted a different opportunity for black to fail miserably at this moment. If, for some weird reason, they move the pawn on *g7* - it’s another (and slightly different) nice and sneaky mate in 1, that looks funny in its own way.
That one seems like a super obvious mistake as where the other one is easy to fall into because the queen is xraying the not so obvious mate by knight landing on a square that doesn't capture anything while the other one is so easy to know it falls to mate by the pin on a capture. However, good spot lol.
Put the chess aside, this guy(agadmator) deserves a respect for making a vid for christmas

Agree, the Gareyev game was absolutely amazing. Naroditsky has an hour-long analysis video on his channel. It is well worth checking out.
Naroditzky played basically with 100% accuracy, every move in the opening was theory, he spotted the Knight sacrifice and while not every move beyond that was the "best" it was unlosable at that point any way.
Please cover Naroditsky vs Gareyev from the US Chess Online Qualifier 2020, it has a really beautiful mate.

This Bishop to c4 then Ne5 so early on by white is such a nice way to play. This line looks difficult to play with Black. Queen to c7 was needed to defend the pawn on f7.

It would be 100% accuracy if at 6:58 Daniel played Qe6, not the bishop.
So the move with the rook was actually the correct idea.
There's no defense against Qh3 checkmate. You can only give up the knight and queen to prevent the agony.
Great channel and great stories! It cracks me up when you say 'Sorry about that.' because I generally forget you are going to say that. Does anybody know of any famous games where a queen and king go against a rook and king in the end game? There is an elaborate way to win this with the queen and king and there are videos of it, but it would be interesting to see it in real life as it is pretty complicated for somebody such as myself! Thanks for the great videos!
Funnily enough, before Bb7 was played, I looked at this position and I was like, "if Bb7 now, I'd sack my knight without thinking twice". And then they went for it.

10:03 the only move for black is Kh2/ rather Bd6 or one after the other if presented the option, def 95% losing for black but one can only hope.
While I enjoyed the game and the video as always, this was one of those rare times on this channel that what we witnessed was not a brilliancy but a stupidity. I think anyone with even just a mediocre rating would have known that Bb7 was horrible, and that Nxf7 would set off a chain reaction that could unfold in many ways.
Saying that, though, I really need to brush up on my Caro Kann, as I encounter it many times a week and haven't taken the time to figure out how to respond properly. That's where these fine uploads by everyone's favourite chess commentator really helps.

At 2:23 after black moves pawn to b5, why shouldn't white play knight on e5 x the undefended pawn on c6, threatening the black queen and setting up a devastating bishop capture of the b5 pawn on the next move, menacing the white king. Am I missing something? Wouldn't that blow black's defenses apart?
I checked in the engine and with correct play by black white loses a piece after seven moves
The knight becomes more of a target than a actual threat
Seems like a nice move in a blitz game.

After MVL managed to survive the first attack, sacrificing his Queen for white Rook, I really thought he would finish with a miraculous draw.
why not ...Rg6 at the end for black? the other rook is still protected by the bishop, so it doesn't get lost if white exchanges first with Rxg6.
