I think Michael miss-spoke, he said the two sentences would be served concurrently but then went on to describe the State sentence (whatever it will be) as being served "on top of" the Federal sentence.

It is nice to see a judge give a sentence that fits the crime. Most of those who were tried for trying to overthrow the government on Jan. 6 were for the most part given "slap on the wrist" sentences.
Most of them pled guilty to lesser charges such as trespassing and causing a public disturbance instead of forcing a trial on the indictments. That's why they were given (relatively) light sentences, as long as they weren't guilty of major offenses. Anyone convicted of sedition will NOT be getting a slap on the wrist; look at the outcomes of the Proud Boys and Oath Keeper leaders' trials.
