Good hell, I can't believe this was 10 years ago. I still remember the summer where me and all my friends got into longboarding. It was one of the greatest summers of my life. And I have you guys to thank for those memories. I went longboarding again back when quarantine came into effect, and I forgot just how much I missed it. This is all still so applicable: Go out ride and enjoy the world. Longboarding is just such a good way to do that. Hope everything is going well with the Original team 🙏
Almost 7 weeks back I wished I could do that. I bought myself a longboard almost one day after seeing this video. And started to learn. I ride my board every time and everywhere. I increased my speed, learned how to slide in every way, got my gear and learned different Tricks. Now? After 7 weeks? Guess what. I have done it! I raced down the Königsstuhl in Heidelberg and the Feldeberg in Freiburg. My next step? A go pro or contour. I'm now willing to share the awesome feeling of going downhill or just cruising and pumping through the city. By the way. If you dedicated yourself to learn something new. Time doesn't mean a thing anymore!
MrJizzy181 It only takes 7 weeks to learn how to longboard? That's awesome. I am 20 and i didn't felt like starting because i think i started way to late because who learns a new sport at 20 years old?
Ilias Joels Hi. I'm 21 myself and yes. It only took me 7 weeks. But I have to admit, that I was really dedicated and used every free second to get better. I did had some skateboard experience from long ago. (10-15). But still it wasn't easy. If you get a hold of it, it turns simply into a joy and every movement feels powerful and fluid.
Good luck MW, stoked you are getting into it man. Still ride with my dad from time to time and he broke the 60 mark not to long ago. Plenty of time to get into it and get it dialed in. Stoked you are getting to be a part of it, let us know if you ever need any help with a new board.
These videos are just beautiful. Not only they inspire people to ride. Good Cinematography. Good editing. Just straight-to-the-point longboarding. No long unnecessary intros, i.e. rider makes coffee or puts on helmet in slow motion. Minimal horseplay. Some good long shots of landscapes. Mountain biking videos can take a lesson from you guys.
These videos seriously did inspire me to ride! Out here in nova Scotia Canada there are some real radical roads man. Tbh after riding, seeing these videos just makes me really happy cause its really close to capturing the feeling and the scenic benefits of exploring with a board. Best part is how they left the "close calls" for the end of the video cause we all know those were the most thrilling rides!
I turn 17 in 2 days and I've been longboarding for about a year. Its the best thing I've ever done with my life and I'm wanting to start boarding some better quality roads than the gravel roads I have in my neighborhood.
I, myself, only do longboarding for fun. I just like cruising around. However, I find it relaxing and beautiful watching others slide down the hill. Thank you, for making this amazing video.
It can be for sure. I just got off a four week heal-up from a broken rib, got the trick but paid for it for sure. The thing is its all about how far you push it, and push yourself. If you are going hard to find out what you are made of, you are taking risks, and you need to keep that in mind. If you are just carving and cruising and skating within your means, you are fully safe, or at least as safe as riding a bike. Its about what is important to you and what you make of it. Heal up soon!
I've seen this video so many times, and i love it more every time. This is by far the best long boarding video i've seen so far and the go longboard series are my favorite videos. Props to you guys and keep shredding and making sick videos like this.
Used to skateboard 15 years ago and did tricks and skated vert, now that I'm 32. Longboarding is more my speed since I haven't been on a board in so long. But I'd love to see you going 40mph+ downhill on your skateboard......let's see who chickens out first. Longboarding is way more dangerous, I guess most longboarders can't Ollie. But they make up for it in nerves and guts.
I got the Apex 40" DD from you guys about 1 year ago and i have to say. That board is amazing. Every time i fall and crash on a hard turn or a insane steep hill i name it. The reason i do that is to never forget that i fell there and that when i do eventually conquer that hill/turn. I know exactly what i was thinking after i fell. Thanks Original, you guys are the best!
So many memories, these movies inspired me to go over the cliff and buy a longboard back in the days. Still have my Apex 40 DC which has to be like 7 years old by now, amazing deck, I love it and it has always been a central part in my life even though some e-longboards have joined the family. I just wish I had been smarter kid back then and bought some nose guards..
i really like watching longboarding videos. the tricks might not be as crazy as some skateboarding tricks but i feel longboarders have a way more relaxed outlook on skating. taking it slow down a hill doing some flips and turns is as cool to watch as backflips and kickflips or whatever, i dont know the terminology.
Depends! What kind of riding do you want to do? Carving, Cruising? Sliding? Pure speed and downhill? Also, how tall and how heavy are you? Give us some more info and we can probably give you a good idea of which boards might work well for you as you learn. A couple of base choices to check now; Carving: Pintail 40, Cruising / Sliding: Drop Freeride 41, Downhill: Arbiter 36 or Maven 35. A little bit of all of those things + tricks and freestyle; the Apex 37 or Apex 40s are fun.
Part I was what got me back into skating in '08, and five years later it's awesome to see Original still staying at it and continuing to revolutionize the sport. Keep it up guys!! & thank you!
yeah me to but i can go much faster on my longboard my record is 55 mph (70 kmh) and i go even faster then sport cyclist in my country so yeah its all good longboarding and skateboarding but its nearly the same but not the same at a time!
for over the past year my setup has been a 8.60 creature skateboard deck with longboard wheels and trucks. I love it, its super smooth and about twice as fast. It would take some getting used to because its so heavy and higher off the ground, to but I skated it like a regular board. Longboardings amazing as well.
Wow thank you so much original, watching these videos since last year have inspired me so much to go longboarding! I also go my other friends from school to come along with me and get into the great thing longboarding. I cant thank you enough for inspiring me and bringing me into the world of longboarding :) Thank you original
Круто. Але як в Україні кататись ? По яким дорогам ? Ті кончені підери всьо розкрадають. Йобана держава. Хоть бери і виїжай і живи, а не як зарас виживай і підстроюйся..
Hmm, When I moved into serious downhill I went with a drop-deck. For me I felt like that made a difference in my confidence (mental stuff is a big part of it). If you HAVE the ability, I would stand on the two boards and get a feel for which you like better. If not I would go with the Maven if you want more stability and a bit easier initiation, or the Arbiter if you are going to be doing more technical cornering or techinical stand up slides etc.
I don't know about revolutionizing, but we certainly set out to do that with whatever project we happen to pick up. The thing about a revolution is that it takes a lot of people, way more than the couple dozen we have working here at Original HQ in NJ. Any day we get to be a part of a good revolution is a good day as far as I am concerned, regardless of whether we started it. That said, "Save your Soul, Start a Revolution." still applies as much now as it did imo.
Sure man, Did you check out the Baffle? Thing is $119 for the deck and if you look at the bottom is sort of like an Apex with the gaps filled in. It's not carbon fiber or anything fancy like that but it does get the job done, and even has more of an upside as far as fast freeride and downhill when compared to the Apex. As far as for freestyle, the Apex is still better, but thats because of all the stuff thats in there for strength. The Drop Freeride 41 ($99) is also a good option.
Hey TWS... for cruising you have a lot of good options. If you want to cruise low with a focus on carving the Pintail 40 or even the smaller 37 inch Pintail 37 would be great options. Super low and easier to push than your average pintail. For cruising with some sliding I would really lean more toward the Drop Freeride 41, or even the Freeride 38 (sounds like you are a smaller rider to me at 85lbs). For downhill / cruising I like the Maven 35 a lot. Again, super low, but very stable too
When I saw the video shook my head and thought how they do it and I suddenly remembered they do it with the confidence to love what they do so only say one thing great video congratulations
Hi original longboards. You guys inspire me so much! Its great you guys do these kinds of videos it really does make a crowd shock in awe. I love you guys, keep it up!
Damn I’m 37 now, long boarded a lot in my 20s, I just bought a fresh complete from Arbor I’ll be skating again after a long hiatus. I’ve been religiously snowboarding though and hiking so I still get after it 💪💪
Wadddup Carson? Since it sounds like you live in a particularly mountainous terrain, I highly recommend the Drop Freeride 41 for stability. To ensure a smooth ride, get some sticky 78a Retro ZigZags to grip the pavement. -Lindsay
I know the feeling off the downhill runs, best feeling ever, and slides feel just as good, this is just a sick video for longboarding, sick job for the editing and all the skaters!
There's a few options, check out the Arbiter 36, Maven 35, and Drop Freeride 41. If you have more questions hit up the Help button on the website! Cheers _Sean
Hey Ben! I learned how to do hands down slides first. I think it's a lot easier when you're lower to the ground. Get yourself a pair of slide gloves!! -Lindsay
Well you have some options (as you probably know). To me there are two ways you can go: Get a well rounded downhill board (which will have better high speed performance), to me that would be the Arbiter 36, Arbiter 36 KT or even Baffle 37. Or get a stable, all-around deck that would be better at freestyle and carving like the Apex 37 DiamondDrop or Apex 40 DiamondDrop. Either of those Apexes will be fine up through the mid 30s / 40mph but the Downhill stuff is more speed oriented.
Easier to learn with it dropped through. Loosen your trucks up and start by learning how to carve your board as hard as possible. Try to do a 360 degree turn and end up going back down the hill. Once you can carve super hard, on your hardest carves (on a drop through), you will start to feel the wheels slip a little and they may even make some noise. That will be your first baby, 2 ot 3 inch, slide. From there you just practice throwing your weight to elongate that very small slide.
You don't have to be good at longboarding, you just have to get out and ride, that's what makes us longboarders different, we appreciate other riders, we're all in the same community no matter where you are in the world and what deck you own. The sport as come along way in the last 5 years. The good thing is the people are all still there. Whether you ride alone or with others. Just enjoy it, and you'll be part of the best skate community in the world
Hello from Turkey me and my two firends too wants to be a longboarder but us havent roads like yours..we are living in Istanbul there are very crowded..YOU GUYS.. YOU ARE VERY LUCKY..Have a nice slide! :)
The Pin tails and the free rides are both great starter boards. The pin tails are more cruiser oriented and the free rides and are more speed and slide oriented check them both out at originals website!
id suggest not getting a original but a comet voodoo doll with otang stimulus and caliber 44's, great for downhill but its always good to know that you're able to slide. i've got this settup and i love it!!
I'm from Ukraine. I never thought that it's possible yo do flips on longboards. I never respected those who rides by a longboard, I respected only skateborders because I'm also skateborder. this video has opened my eyes))
46 Miles Per Hour Is A Lot On That Board. One Thing To Remember Is That The Guys You See Going That Fast In Our Videos And Else Where Have A Ton Of Practice, A Ton Of Skill (You HAVE TO Know How To Stop) And Serious Equipment. Krown Is Cheap, But At That Speed You Have It All On The Line, Maybe Get A More Serious Speed Deck But Absolutely Learn To Stop Before Going That Fast On A Regular Basis : )
Welllll I'd personally rather see you on an Original Pintail 40 or the like if you are headed the pintail direction... totally un-biased of course. That said if you are doing anything beyond cruising and carving I would really look at something more designed for sliding / downhill. Maybe a Drop Freeride 41, or even an Arbiter?
Hah, yeah man, if you don't have the proper tools; meaning equipment and skills, going fast can be a little nerve wracking. First thing I always tell people is to learn how to stop, slide gloves and a coleman slide will save you more often than you think. Like thousands of times by the time you have been riding for years haha That will let you get more comfortable at speed while KNOWING you can stop if need be. Not familiar with the Land Shark so I can't speak to the equipment portion ; )
There's a few options, check out the Freeride series, Maven, and Arbiter. Read up on them a bit on the site, if you have any more questions hit the help button! _Sean
sitdown, glove slides help you get used to sliding before you try anything standup, i learned colemans 1st then moved on to 180's, swich 180's, backsides and so forth
Sure you can strap roof racks on your racecar and try to haul plywood around, but I would rather just borrow a friends pickup truck to do the right job with the right tool. Racing on a carving truck is very nearly as ineffective as carving on a racing truck, try to enjoy your tools in the arena they were designed to excel whenever possible. Have fun out there!

I think i am going to buy a longboard then! One more question. How do you actually stop when going down on a hill?
I'm 45. Just getting started. Good luck to me.
Good luck MW, stoked you are getting into it man.
Still ride with my dad from time to time and he broke the 60 mark not to long ago.
Plenty of time to get into it and get it dialed in. Stoked you are getting to be a part of it, let us know if you ever need any help with a new board.
41, also new, just cruising. Need to work on stopping some more so I can enjoy the downhills some more :)
MrWibette
MrWibette 41 and I'm thinking about it !
lol a little exited and a bit uncertain .
Go for it, but please take 'er easy, dont wreck yourself.

I'm 16. ive broken both of my arms downhill longboarding. But I still do it to this day. 😀
CoD doesnt break your legs or arms
The progression from Pt.1 to this is incredible to watch
I love these videos, it really shows the beauty in a good skateboard or longboard community, doesn't remind u of any toxic 14 Yr old.
I don't even have to watch the video to hit the like button. Flipping good all of them. Congrats.
Murilo Lima stoked you are stoked, looking forward to putting together the next edition, hope we do as good as we have in the past haha
Longboards by Original Skateboards have you started yet?

Almost 8 year have been happened since this video was realesed, and im still enjoying and remember when I used to ride with my friends in Perú.
Longboarding has a somewhat romantic and esthetic touch. Pretty cool. And those Landscapes are just gorgeous. Wish I could do that to.

this has got to be one of the best if not the best longboarding video yet!!!!!!!!!!! Go Longboard!!!!

Thanks original for your advice I appreciate it a lot I will probably look into both board series thanks for replying Lindsay
Sure man,
Did you check out the Baffle? Thing is $119 for the deck and if you look at the bottom is sort of like an Apex with the gaps filled in. It's not carbon fiber or anything fancy like that but it does get the job done, and even has more of an upside as far as fast freeride and downhill when compared to the Apex. As far as for freestyle, the Apex is still better, but thats because of all the stuff thats in there for strength. The Drop Freeride 41 ($99) is also a good option.
Hey TWS... for cruising you have a lot of good options.

Hi original longboards. You guys inspire me so much! Its great you guys do these kinds of videos it really does make a crowd shock in awe. I love you guys, keep it up!
Angel Antonio Thanks for the good word. We'll try to keep it up so long as you keep loving them and getting out there with your longboard!

Lots of places!
Try Muir Skate, Daddies or the Original Skateboards website for online dealers.
i hope all of you are doing great now, enjoy your life, amazing times
I know the feeling off the downhill runs, best feeling ever, and slides feel just as good, this is just a sick video for longboarding, sick job for the editing and all the skaters!
y is this the best video on youtube ???
i love this video !!!! i am italian and you are the best crew !!!! i have a waveboard and you have inspired me !!!!!
There's a few options, check out the Arbiter 36, Maven 35, and Drop Freeride 41. If you have more questions hit up the Help button on the website!
Cheers
_Sean
Long board is awsomeness! I just learned a cool trick!
Hey Ben! I learned how to do hands down slides first. I think it's a lot easier when you're lower to the ground. Get yourself a pair of slide gloves!! -Lindsay
Well you have some options (as you probably know).
To me there are two ways you can go:
Get a well rounded downhill board (which will have better high speed performance), to me that would be the Arbiter 36, Arbiter 36 KT or even Baffle 37.
Or get a stable, all-around deck that would be better at freestyle and carving like the Apex 37 DiamondDrop or Apex 40 DiamondDrop.
Either of those Apexes will be fine up through the mid 30s / 40mph but the Downhill stuff is more speed oriented.
If your new to sliding I would recommend a Purple Stimulus, it's pre broken in and easy to initiate a slide. Hope this helps!
_Sean
It’s 2024 now and I remember this video was the reason I started longboarding… hope you’re all good guys!!
The sport as come along way in the last 5 years. The good thing is the people are all still there. Whether you ride alone or with others. Just enjoy it, and you'll be part of the best skate community in the world
Maryhill gets everyone together, I assume there were some blackcross boards out there : )
Heck yeah Peyton. Thanks for the good word man.
The more the merrier, get to the broadway bomb this year and let's do it.
Hello from Turkey me and my two firends too wants to be a longboarder but us havent roads like yours..we are living in Istanbul there are very crowded..YOU GUYS.. YOU ARE VERY LUCKY..Have a nice slide! :)
I like the drifts on it! Sometimes I do it with my luggage when I am at the airport, because there is a perfect slippery floor there.
this video made me love longboard ! i'm gonna buy one !
The Pin tails and the free rides are both great starter boards. The pin tails are more cruiser oriented and the free rides and are more speed and slide oriented check them both out at originals website!
This, while listening to Flume - Left Alone. Just pure awesomeness
im 46..just starting.....love the freedom of it..
id suggest not getting a original but a comet voodoo doll with otang stimulus and caliber 44's, great for downhill but its always good to know that you're able to slide. i've got this settup and i love it!!
Hey the Pintail 43 would give you just a little more stability for your size since your starting out!! Enjoy :)

I ride with caliber 44 trucks and some soft 74mm wheels! i ride downhill with that setup and it is pretty awesome!
I'm from Ukraine. I never thought that it's possible yo do flips on longboards. I never respected those who rides by a longboard, I respected only skateborders because I'm also skateborder. this video has opened my eyes))
videos like this reminds me why i love so much longboarding c:
Epic i love longboard. You inspired me to ride and i actualy ride on it.
awesome! Stoked your'e enjoying it! Thanks for the love.

This is why i started longboard, cuz of this video :) Carry on guys
Hah, yeah man, if you don't have the proper tools; meaning equipment and skills, going fast can be a little nerve wracking. First thing I always tell people is to learn how to stop, slide gloves and a coleman slide will save you more often than you think. Like thousands of times by the time you have been riding for years haha
That will let you get more comfortable at speed while KNOWING you can stop if need be.
Not familiar with the Land Shark so I can't speak to the equipment portion ; )
Sounds about right. I actually live in south Florida, so surely this applies to me. Thanks.
Guys your videos are amazing! We -don't- want to see more videos like this one! *THUMBS UP*!;)
There's a few options, check out the Freeride series, Maven, and Arbiter. Read up on them a bit on the site, if you have any more questions hit the help button!

sitdown, glove slides help you get used to sliding before you try anything standup, i learned colemans 1st then moved on to 180's, swich 180's, backsides and so forth

I want to travel around the world and Go Longboard
I dont know where you guys ride at but they're some very amazing and beautiful place that i would love to ride some time
J'adore cette musique et la vidéo aussi !!!
Im so exited to learn and how to use longboard, but the problem is verry hard to find the good long board.
They make those tricks look easy
Sure you can strap roof racks on your racecar and try to haul plywood around, but I would rather just borrow a friends pickup truck to do the right job with the right tool. Racing on a carving truck is very nearly as ineffective as carving on a racing truck, try to enjoy your tools in the arena they were designed to excel whenever possible. Have fun out there!
I watch this video everyday and I just imagine myself longboarding one day!
I FREAKIN' WANT A LONGBOARD!
I had a longboard and most of my friends made fun of me for it's size, but that board felt smoother than any ordinary board
