    Stray Kids love word-play, and there will be a lot of word-play between English and Korean. Using words that sound the same in both languages to emphasize the message. Like Gone Day (in Korean KKondae basically means boomer) a fun song about it being the new generation's turn.
    Without knowing Korean language, or the culture, we don't realise how clever (particularly Han) they are with the word-play. Korean STAYs will usually explain to us why a particular phrase is so clever. Changbin is the one that loves to look for word-play between the laguages, and will spend hours with Felix to work them out.

    stray kids really has a level of creative freedom that is near unheard of in kpop. i definitely consider stray kids to be a self produced group, but the whole "self produced" thing looks a bit different in the kpop world as opposed to, for example, an unsigned artist over here. with stray kids, their work flow (from what i've pieced together) is usually like this:
    bang chan, han, and changbin are their producing unit called 3RACHA (they used to be a little hip hop trio before stray kids was a thing, secretly releasing music on soundcloud lol). typically, bang chan will start producing a song in his studio, and the three of them will write the lyrics once they've got an idea. they DO write all their lyrics! same with their melodies - that's all them. they'll cut a full demo of the song in chan's studio. but then, 9 times out of 10, bang chan will take that demo to one of the in-house producers and be like "okay work your magic on it," so the production credits will oftentimes say bang chan AND that other producer. they have like 2-3 that they work with very often and bang chan works VERY closely with them to make it sound perfect.
    every so often they'll receive a song from an outside producer, but chan will usually go in and tweak it to add his own spin to it. for example, the backing track for domino was started by someone else, but chan went in and added all those fun little "falling domino" sounds. then they'll add their own lyrics and melodies as per usual.
    whenever stray kids release a solo song here or there, or a cover song, or just something for fun not on an album (it happens super often!), that's when you'll see only bang chan's name as the producer. sometimes, he'll do a livestream and produce a song on the spot as we watch! he's super talented and is working 24/7, but when it comes to their big releases, he usually works with someone after an idea is 75% formed to really take those songs to the next level. and when the group is in the studio recording official vocals, at least one of 3RACHA is outside the booth guiding/directing them alongside their other producer! han and changbin take the reigns on a song every so often, but it's usually bang chan. living up to his leader position!
    when it comes to their music videos, styling, everything not related to music - that's where their company (JYP entertainment) comes in. they don't have much to do with that side of stuff aside from throwing in opinions here and there. they're super self sustaining, but they're still the golden children of one of the biggest music companies in korea (probably because they're so self sustaining hahah) and have that JYP money to play with. but they're self sustaining enough that the CEO doesn't really touch what they do aside from giving his final sign off on projects! with choreography, oftentimes the in-house choreographers work with them to come up with the choreo, or they'll outsource the choreo and makes tweaks to it as they're learning it.
    so yes, by kpop standards, they're a SUPER self produced group! but they're not doing everything completely from the ground up like an indie artist would over here. they're very vocal and thankful for the team around them. they add a ton of input throughout the whole process, more than most groups can, but they still rely on their team for some stuff. which is totally okay and doesn't diminish the HUGE amount that they do create! i'm still so proud of them though and it's all super admirable

    The music on the end of the lyric video of Heyday is put there by the translator, who donated their time and expertise, the music on the end helps them avoid copyright issues. One of the reasons that Heyday sounds so different is that it was produced by Czaer for a dance-group competition show (Streetman Fighter). Czaer produced all the tracks on the album for that show, from many different artists, including several other kpop idols. If you listen to that entire album, you can really hear how a producer influences the sound of a track, Czaer definitely has a signature sound. 3Racha (the members Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han) wrote their own lyrics, and although they are not credited on the album, they probably had some input into the sound and production, but Czaer is the one credited with instrumentation and arrangements.
    Stays are super enthusiastic, and we sometimes go a bit overboard on the enthusiasm. I love Stray Kids, they are some of the most creative and talented artists I've heard for years. They have a lot of involvement in all their content, aaaaand they also make great use of the expertise of other professionals. It's great to credit them for all the artistic control they have, and it is also great to recognize that they have superb taste in who they choose to work with. They are very very happy to share the credit, Bang Chan in particular gives shout-outs to collaborators (co-producers, MV directors, stylists, etc) a lot. He once even made a point of thanking the folks who do the technical work in the studio, people whose names never even show up in the credits of the albums, saying their songs would never sound so good without those guys.
    Stray Kids are absolute professionals, they cherish the good working relationships they have with other professionals. They also have jam-packed schedules. They simply do not have time to also direct and produce all their own videos and make all their own choreography, and the group itself has never ever claimed that they do these things. In fact, during some of their "making of" videos showing behind-the-scenes content for each of their MVs, members will often make remarks about how they don't know what comes next, or they are not sure why they are doing a particular thing, or talk about how cool the set is in a way that makes it clear they had no idea how it would look before they showed up to film. They also mention how great it is to work with this or that director. One of the things I love the most about Stray Kids is how honest they are, how humble, and how willing to share credit with other collaborators. They are true professionals, and truly talented, and they are also super generous, nice people.
    They do have a few videos that are entirely self-produced. Some of their earlier B-side videos were very low-tech "street" versions, where they basically walked around with selfie cams lip-syncing, and they are hilarious and wonderful (N/S in particular is really funny). They also might self-produce some of the videos for their Skz Record or Skz Replay (where they post covers or new music by small subsets of members that they do not plan to release officially on their next album). They have input into their choreo and some of the content/plot/mood etc. for their big feature MVs, more than most kpop bands do.
    However, they use high-end professional directors for those big MVs, like for God's Menu, Thunderous, Venom etc. Those are super super high budget, using state of the art, very expensive equipment, very very high-end editing that takes a very very long time to do, superb lighting and costumes, lots of support staff, and so on. The members simply do not have time to produce their own videos, and they don't need to do so, since they have the budget to hire the best. Just watch some of the reaction videos by the professional film makers and editors, there are some by a professional "set dresser" who talks about all the dozens of people needed to produce an MV of that quality, and you will understand why it is really unlikely that Skz is doing it all themselves.The music on the end of the lyric video of Heyday is put there by the translator, who donated their time and expertise, the music on the end helps them avoid copyright issues.

In Felix case, despite his parents both are from South Korea, he was fully born and grew up in Australia until he had to move to South Korea. He went to primary and secondary school in Australia and he auditioned for JYP (the Korean company that Stray Kids are under) when he was 13. He was a trainee for 7 years before he debuted. He picked himself all the members.

    First of all, It was honestly such an happy accident that you came across 'Maze of memories' when stays meant 'MIROH'. Usually people react to it later coz it's such an old song but it's one of their best
    Secondly, the lyric channels sometimes add random ass music in the end to extend the video for the algorithm, it wasn't a skz song lol. If it sounds like the song ended and random music starts it's the fillers
    Third of all.. I'm so glad you find their message relatable and that you found comfort in this community, honestly I've been into kpop since 2014 and the STAYs are literally one of the best, warm, welcoming, sweet fandoms I've come across.. and a huge part of it is because of Straykids and their morals and the things they stand for (especially Chan, since he always shows way to stays that stray)
    I'm really happy to accompany you on your journey with straykids, welcome to stayville
    Edit: fixed a horrible typo (it changed the entire meaning of what i was trying to say).. ignore it

    With these lyric videos, the thing is that since songs get copyright claimed the creators can't make monetize them. What they do is they put their own song at the end, so they can copyright claim the whole video, with the artist's song included. Zaty Farhani and Jaeguchi were under fire for this exact thing a year or two ago.

    Yup so 3Racha is the subunit that does all the writing/composing of the lyrics. Bang Chan is from Australia as is Felix (the one with the angel face and deep voice), they love all things Marvel, Changbin is a gym bunny (sorry, Dweikki, which is like a pig/bunny, his SKZOO character (Stray Kids Zoo) ). Sorry, there's just SO MUCH to talk about with them.

    Whenever I'm feeling a bit down or just low on energy I listen to HeyDay and by the end of the song I'm feeling like a boss b****. 3Racha and SKZ in general just get you so hyped for anything! What's incredible about 3Racha is that they were creating beats, producing and writing their own songs and releasing them on Sound Cloud before they were Stray Kids. I'm not sure how the company felt about that haha - but I think it's a large reason why they still have such influence over their own works. They do have a youtube channel as well, though once SKZ debuted I don't think anything else has added to it. It's amazing to hear some of them from like 6-7 years ago, and now they've remade some to fit with all 8 members. Like others have said I def suggest a guide for SKZ, and if you want a bit more there is a great video by the fan account "spookyskz8" called "3RACHA being the geniuses behind Stray Kids" that focuses purely on Bang Chan, Changbin and Han. I'm so excited for you, becoming a Baby Stay (new fan) because there is SO much content, surprises and laughter in store for you. They are truly a one of a kind group (no hate to any other groups).
    Edit: --Also, as you saw, often lyric guides will post a bit of unrelated music at the end of a track to avoid copywrite themselves. As others have said, please wait a day to stream the album (or if you want to get really crazy, wait until all of the music videos are out, they'll probably be 4 if not more of them, just based on past experience, and then listen to any of the ones you missed). Twitch will often mute the videos if copywrited songs are live streamed on there when people who missed the live try to watch the VOD. Patreon you can livestream and charge or make free... there are ways to do it, but I'd look into what works best for you beforehand.

  • @oddsocks2
    @oddsocks2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just so you know, the music at the end of HeyDay wasn't a preview of anything - the person who uploads the lyric videos adds it at the end to try and bypass copywrite. It's at the end of all their lyric video uploads.

  • @LYNNELLE_DREAMusic
    @LYNNELLE_DREAMusic ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The music at the end is just the channel's outro music, which they do at the end of every lyric video, which I also find unnecessary, so don't worry about it.

    Most of the group speak English very well. Bang Chan (the leader) and Felix are Australian, and Lee Know and Seungmin lived briefly in the US. And Han lived in Malaysia and speaks English quite well. I believe I read that Hyunjin is majoring in English, or studying English. Also, 3Racha (Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han) write the majority of Stray Kids' songs. Their copyrights are in the hundreds now. Some others in the group also write songs, but it's usually those three. Stray kids are all amazing singers and rappers. It's a group of all-rounders.

    In case no one's mentioned this: Japanese MVs (like Scars) won't have subtitles. They're definitely still worth watching though, and the lyrics are just as great as the Korean ones, so you might consider doing both the MV and then a lyrics vid, or the MV and looking up the lyrics on Genius, or something along those lines. I promise STAYs will happily watch. We regularly sit through 2.5 hours of reactors watching guide videos, or watch 20 reactors reacting to the same things we've seen a million times already. We're pretty much in it to, well, stay.
    I'm glad people let you know that you're safe not copyright pausing on content from SKZ's channel. (Although it's definitely appreciated when you pause to make comments.) You'll also usually be safe not pausing on the lyrics vids, since those contain the copyright-busting added music clips at the end and you're also already naturally pausing for commentary. The stuff that's riskier is undoctored (no blur on logos, image not flipped, whatever) live stages and content from other channels (MU:FULLY aka MUPLY, for example -- although Studio Choom seems to be safe), or if you play more than five songs/MVs in one reaction.
    I'd like to request that you please not livestream or in any other way react to the new album for at least the first 24 hours. The first week is very important for views, and that first 24 hours in particular are absolutely vital. I promise STAY will show up in droves to see reactions after that first essential window of time, so you won't lose anything. And it's a nice way to respect the artists, which unfortunately plenty of reactors don't follow through on.
