Thanks for an awesome video, Rodney! Having a game explained on Watch it Played, that's one more item Landmarks allowed me to cross from my game designer bucket list :)
As always, a great video. We really enjoyed this one. Such a fun puzzle figuring out how to get people to go where you want and avoid places. It's easy to work yourself into a corner too!
Yes! That’s something I discovered while playing too. “Uh oh, to get them to go HERE, I now have to come up with a link to several works… how will I do that?!”
Question for Rodney regarding valid clues: You mention that you can't use a clue that contains a word already on the board (e.g. "Tiebreaker" or "Untie" which both contain the word "Tie") but later on, if you had the words "Glue" and "Play" what about the word "Slime"? It technically contains "lime" but the examples you gave were compound words that retained the meaning of "tie" and "slime" has nothing to do with "lime" apart from containing the letters lime... Similarly, if you gave the clue "Cat" earlier on could you no longer give clues like "Scatter" and "Catcher" later on (based on their meaning in relation to other clues' meanings, not leveraging the fact that they contain the previous word as a reason to place them)?
The challenge with games like this, is that although the restrictions might be set relative to the designer's best intentions, there is almost always "another way to look at it" - although I like to have very definite answers for all rules questions, in cases like these, I really do think the table should come up with an agreement for what they will or won't allow.
Hi Leron, like Ian and Rodney wrote before, your group may interpret the way it suits them best for the adequate level of challenge. As one of the designers, I can say this rule was meant to stop people from using words with the same root / stem, which is not the case in your examples.
i thought of something interesting for competitive play: if the other team has 3 treasures and a curse, you could attempt to lead your team to one of their treasures, causing them to get a 4th treasure while cursed, giving you the win in return..... this feels evil.
Thanks! I can genuinely say I don't have a favorite. The game I want to play in any given situation depends on the people who are playing, what I think would be a good fit for them, and my mood in the moment.
12:57 the rule book doesn’t mention needing a treasure to win. It does say the goal is to collect as many as possible before finding the exit though. Is there an FAQ I missed?
Yeah, looks like you found out that they made an adjustment to the rulebook after the first print run - thankfully we were able to build that into the tutorial video!
"But I prefer using magic." Rodney got me there 😂
Hey, if it's an option, always use magic! :)
i really went back to double check, and yes, i DID hear it correctly the first time. comedy genuis
Same, so nonchalant 😂
yes, i watch board game explainer videos for entertainment. i admit it. 😀
Especially when its so well done, like Rodney does.
Very kind of you to say - thanks for being one of our regular viewers!

ha ha yes!
Great video! Clever design and not what I expected at all.
It wasn't what I expected either - which was good! Nice to be surprised :)
I always wait for your new videos 😍❤
Same!
Thank you kindly Arsh!

I think the spirit of the game really comes down to how the players around the table want to interpret this rule.

I would say that, technically, "slime" does not contain "lime" in the sense of the rules. They are talking about compound words.

@@rodregorego Thanks for the clarification. That's a relief to hear!
2:27 magic's cool.
I really love this concept and definitely want this!
Glad you enjoyed - thanks for checking out the video!
Interesting concept. :) Puts me a little in the mind of Clover meeting Mystic Paths. :) Cool.
I haven't played Mystic Paths, but I see the So Clover comparison!

That came to you so naturally... hmmm...
I demoed this at Gen Con. 🥓🥓🥓
Thanks for coming to play games with us!
I hope you had a great Gen Con Frank!
Well from now on I'm definitely pronouncing it "Fibee"
Fair :)
Didn't know the theme is bleak LOL. So much assumed death!
You know. We like to keep things light! 🤣
My recommendation: don't die!
Nice video as always! Will you do a video about the game "trolls and princesses" ?
Thanks for the interest! I talk a bit about that here: th-cam.com/video/EdtDuvIUa6A/w-d-xo.html&t=342
Wondering when this will release...
In a week or so you'll be able to order it from Floodgate Games. In retail in NA soon!
Very soon! Just a couple of weeks until you can find it at your local retailers in NA.
Soon, as I understand it.
Love ur videos. BTW which is ur favourite board game?
Thanks! I can genuinely say I don't have a favorite. The game I want to play in any given situation depends on the people who are playing, what I think would be a good fit for them, and my mood in the moment.
Rodney, I hear you live in PEI! - we're in PEI visiting family and we're wondering if you could recommend a good store on the island for boardgames :)
If you're near Charlottetown, drop by Owl's Hollow, Comic Hunter or Exor Games!

14:46 never mind this is the answer

@@WatchItPlayed thanks to your video I found and downloaded that update.
what are the dimensions of the map cards if I wanted to sleeve them? They look like 70x70 but I wanted to be sure
Yep, 70mm by 70mm
“We dont pronounce it fibee”
Speak for yourself Rodney 😂
There's always one!!
61 people are Landmarks. 1 person is Skidmarks.
That made me laugh :)
Can you do marvel champions plz 🙏?
