Never forget recording these off the Peel show and playing them non stop. These versions of We All Stand and 5-8-6 are wonderful, way better than the album versions. Too Late is a brilliant track too.
Yes, it's amazing isn't it? :) Actually, this is my favourite Peel Session by NO...been listening to it since the 80's....had it on vinyl then cd (single then the comp)
Good shout! Their cover of Turn the Heater On is my favourite NO recording ever (as much as I'm a huge fan of their own songs too). Gillian's achingly-sad synth line, Hooky's physical bass, Barney's scratchy dub guitar, Stephen's brilliant drumming, Barney's delay-laden singing, the Hannett-esque FX, those sad dreamy lyrics, plus the fact it was Ian Curtis' favourite song so a really touching gesture to make it their only cover...Perfection
Very early 80’s synth bands were brilliant, there was a certain atmosphere to the music, pretty much lost today sadly. I’m so glad I lived through this revolution mainly thanks to DJ’s like John Peel, thanks mate.
Hardly. It was amongst the first batch of Peel Sessions to be released on vinyl whenever that was. Mid-80's. Anyway, I owned it for a couple of decades, with that terrible generic Peel Sessions sleeve.
Great original of 586. It’s transformed over the years but the earlier versions always the best. Hooky does a great version live with The Light, if i am allowed to say that here.
38934 as this version, but 5-8-6 when officially released. The full tracklisting is always given in the description on my uploads. Click on "show more".
Lucky to have found this band in my youth.

Recorded this session off radio when in England I n 1982. Turn The Heater On played loud on a great stereo is so powerful. Sensational!
In perfect harmony with each other. Ian in their hearts. Outstanding result under the watchful master John Peel!
I had this on a bootleg cassette in the 80's! Loved it then and love it now.
Also had this on bootleg back in the 80's. Particularly like ' Turn the Heater On'
This was the cult stuff of the 80's Rob....Searching for every bootleg...great times indeed..
best version of We all Stand.
Wonderful. Remember listening and recording this on an old c90 cassette.them at their best imo
What an awesome Peel session.
Just exquisite thanks 🙏
Awesome
and nobody has bothered to mention what an outstanding cover they did of Keith Hudson here....well...they have now...

@@Keeleysound So agree. A masterpiece .
My favourite New Order recording. Which is saying something considering the quality they produced over the years.
Really great version of 586 here! The synth sounds very mean and gritty :)
Yes!
..as it should..
Great sound- Whiplashing and snakelike.
I miss those days badly
me to and stop calling me badly
at least we have lots of movies and videos of them

@@amnril Listen to this band called Black Marble. It's the closest music from these days that sounds like this...
Epic
Love this

This is getting it's first physical release this record store day

I'm going to try to get this August 29
It's not the first, but yeah, it's getting a reissue.
This was literally the first ever Peel session to be released on vinyl
Strange Fruit - peel away and it is what is inside that counts
@@lenatelle8105 exactly. It was the first ever Peel Sessions vinyl, which makes the record store day hyperbowl (sic) even sillier.

😻
classical music...havent listen to for so long!
This session is more like Movement 2.0
"Turn the Heater On" the sound remenber a reggae
It's better to be pissed on than pissed in. And the opening song is no exception.
call it what you want :)
wow..none of this on albums..like discovering a whole different era of NO
Eh?
We All Stand and 5-8-6 are on Power, Corruption and Lies
@@hahajahjah I think he means the overall style in this session. Even the Power Corruption songs in the session are different from the album versions
Look for the BBC sessions.
1. Turn The Heater On .. a ver very Reggae song
acoustic piano. makes it a bit jazzy for real.
Where is the song Sunrise ??
Why would it be here?
You’re about 4 years too early for Sunrise Boyzee.
what's the name of the last song?
