It really depended on the state. The Georgia and Kentucky predators got 5+ years and the California ones got anywhere from probation to maybe 1 year max.

That overbearing hug in the beginning brought me back to my teen years. It's to communicate, "look at how friendly I'm being. How can you not accept my embrace?". Back then, I thought I had to politely endure those things.
Yes!! You don't want to be perceived as "rude", even though they are the ones crossing boundaries and being "rude" in a polite way.

It's because when you're a kid and you're around family or people you don't really know and you're pressured to give hugs to people you don't know. Stop forcing kids to show physical affection! Let them know they are in charge of their body and they don't have to hug people they don't know.
@@PhoenixRising883Even if your family isn't that way, you can feel uncomfortable when someone tries to come in for a hug. I hug friends and family, but if I'm not close to someone, I don't feel comfortable. At parties, when guys would walk toward me and try to hug me, I'd pretend i didn't see them coming and turn and walk away waving at someone or calling their name. I could also pretend I'm taking a call on my phone or actually make one to a friend.
COVID at least gave me an excuse without me having to say anything. Now a lot of people are less likely to get that close unexpectedly.

I hate when parents are like "Go give so n so a hug" If the other person is the one to try to initiate the hug I always say "we do high fives n fist bumps" it's not rude to set boundaries!!!

It makes total sense that you (and most people) can’t understand, according to modern science and the available tech we have (various types of brain scans) it is physical brain pathology. Their brain is *literally* developed differently. When most people view a child the “protective and caring” part of their brain “lights up” but when a p-file looks at images of children the “s3xual arousal centers” of the brain light up.
Almost all p-files know they are pathological and wish they *didn’t* get those type of feelings at all. Some even chop off their own…. Or shut themselves in their homes because they are so ashamed of their thoughts and desires.
They become very dangerous when someone is a p-file and also antisocial (characteristics of psychopathy or sociopathy which are also brain pathologies people are born with). And since 1:100 people is a full blown psychopath, the over lap happens more than we’d ever like to know…

I’m Hispanic and grow up in in Miami (lots of Hispanic people) and it’s a cultural thing to hug and cheek kiss as a hello/goodbye even when just meeting people. Most of the time it’s harmless with no bad intent but there where times that some guys just made it a weird (like when I was 14 at a birthday party, this 40y/o drunk man put his hand went to my lower back. Most of the time arms/hands are on upper back or biceps during the hug/kiss). Creeps definitely use it was a way to initiate physical contact to make the recipient more used to the touching which is a grooming tactic. I think that’s what is happening here

The reason for the light sentencing is likely a combination of two things.
1. It's only attempted horrific stuff that should put you in prison forever. The sentence is almost always a decent bit lower for a failed attempt at a crime.
2. They likely take a plea deal which further lowers the sentence.
I am not exactly a huge fan of either of these facts but that is, unfortunately, almost certainly the case here.

Victims are less likely to report SA if they know the perpetrator could be killed. Most victims, especially children, know their abusers, and don’t actually want them to die.

Restraining orders can be pretty hard to get, depending on the state, I'm sure. They don't hand them out on simple requests. In all likelihood, the ex wife has solid evidence that he did or really tried to do harm to her or the baby girl.

Tell me, if the Federal Government decided to take this power for themselves, and then decided to lower it across the board to 14, would you still be in favor of federalizing this power? Better to let the states decide. Some states will no doubt set the limit lower than you would like. But at least you could in theory move to a state more in line with your thinking. When the Feds set the policy, we're all stuck with it.
