- A lecture by Dr. William R. Short, manager of Hurstwic, LLC, presented on 1-February-2025 at the Unitarian Church of Marlborough and Hudson.
We know a great deal about the myths that form the basis for the Viking-age heathen religion, but little about the rituals and practices. Archaeological research can shed new light on this area, notably in the beliefs and rituals surrounding death and the afterlife. The Viking people believed that the line between life and death was gray and blurry, and that some people crossed from one side to the other multiple times. In this lecture, we take an adventuresome look at the Viking-age beliefs about the afterlife, and at those aspects of a man or woman that were believed to be immortal.
Thank you Dr. Short!!
