    Wow, thanks for this terrific vicarious experience at a place where I've always wanted to check out. What's the most startling is the absence of trees. I did watch the whole thing, but honestly I never noticed a single tree.

      That's sounds like a great way to celebrate it to me. We had short days during the time of year we went, but they've got some really long days closer to summer that would probably be awesome for backpacking.

    This came out on my birthday and I enjoyed every minute of it. Cool video, kinda cool how the sun there goes up to about 10 degrees to the horizon then slides around then goes back down. I was there in January a few years back via a military C130 to gas and go and at noon the sun was barely at 8 degrees above the horizon.

    • @sintax77
      @sintax77  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, when we were there (October) the days were pretty short. Sunrise wasn't until after 8:30 or so and it was down by 4:30. At least it made it really easy to get up in time for sunrise every day, haha. I bet it's even weirder in June when the sun is only down between midnight and 3AM :0

    Hi, Shawn ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Awesome and amazing travel adventure to Iceland, beautiful scenery and amazing views. My Dad was stationed in Iceland back in the early 40,s protecting the oil fields. I hope one day that you and Sara, Mike and Danielle can travel to Patagonia, awesome mountains to climb there’s even a swing bridge that is over a gorge where you can view a glacier as you cross to climb up to amazing an amazing summit, plus you can take a boat trip up the lake to view the glaciers ( bucket- list ). Thanks for sharing, enjoy and have a Great weekend !!! Danny

    Awesome video, man! Glad you guys made it up to the lighthouse in Vik. I caught some stellar shots of some puffins hanging off of that cliff overlooking the black sand beach, and that particular spot inspired one of my first paintings. This really makes me want to go back, as if I already wasn't dying to. I'm really diggin' the progression of the production quality of your videos as of late as well. Totally looking forward to catching your next adventure. Cheers!

      Also, I totally climbed "off the beaten path" at Seljalandsfoss for that shot. My trip was in April, and there were some serious daggers of ice still strewn about the cliffs there. lol

    my wife and I had a fantastic trip around ICELAND last year, so much fun. We also got to see all the seasons in one day. I am now sadly addicted to the Icelandic yogurt. to bad there is no BONUS PIG store around here. Now stop being a slacker and come back up to the Catskills :) i found a place that serves burgers of epic proportions, you literally have to roll your eyes back into your head like a shark to bite into it. My wife and I will be hiking Croatia next, I hope one day my videos get better. jay creature

I've watched probably 20 in the last few days, but that sound effect you are using to signal the end of one day and the start of a new one has gotten REALLY annoying by now. Everything else is absolutely wonderful and you have a great eye for what to film!

      +Rabid Squirrel Very cool! Did you catch any northern lights? We only saw some faint traces a couple of times. Most of the activity was up north when we were there, but we did get a cool view of them from the plane on the way to Reykjavik..

    • @tiburonimbus
      @tiburonimbus 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      NO! It was the one thing I wanted to see, too. We attempted to go to the middle of nowhere to see it every night (7 nights), but Iceland was busy having the most rain it's had since 1975. We were bummed, as the solar conditions were fantastic... if only it weren't cloudy and raining all 7 days! Despite that, it was still a wonderful trip!

      Thank you sir. Since I've got your attention for a minute, let me say thank you. When I was younger I spent a lot of time hiking and camping but lost that sense of adventure somewhere along the way as I got older. I found your videos a few years ago and you are largely responsible for me getting myself back out into the woods backpacking and filming. So, thank you and happy trails!

      It's true that we never get too old for hiking, because the older I get, I'll always see or hear about someone older doing amazing things like hiking or biking up Mt. Washington. It matters not how fast they reached the peak, but what matters is that they did it or at least tried.

    watch a lot of your videos! big fan from NH. What are your thoughts on the five finger shoes? the less weight on my feet the better if im doing a long hike like franconia ridge. and also seem to have much better grip when i have gone barefoot. keep the white mountain videos coming maybe run into you this summer up there!

    Strange and beautiful place. Thanks for the footage. BTW, I was watching a "Smarter Every Day" video and that place with the snorkeler sign is like a place with insane water clarity, thus, the sign. You should check out that video.

    Great music mixing - cool video! What software do you use to edit your videos? Just curious. I'm looking forward to my own trip, backpacking trip, that is - soon.

    Hi sintax77 i've been following you for some time now. I hope that you will visit my country again and do it properly. What you guys saw were only glimpses of what Iceland (not Reykjavík) has to offer.

    Very cool, thanks for sharing. Iceland is definitely on my bucket list. So is this Ben guy who you can't show on Camera an ex-CIA agent with a "special set of skills"?

    Awesome. We are planning on visiting Iceland first week of May. Quick question, did you notice any availability of gas canisters?

    • @sintax77
      @sintax77  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +funnybeingme Yes, it was pretty easy to come by. We got a giant size can right at the Bonus that we did our grocery shopping at.

    So I asked the police what is their opinion on 3 questions.
    1. Am I allowed to stop on the road for taking pictures or petting horses?
    2. Can I turn out on the main road causing someone to brake?
    3. Can I drive very slow for no important reason in good conditions?
    Hello Daniel.
    1. Yes, you are allowed to stop, as long as care is taken that the car is well outside the road and causes no danger. That is very often not the case.
    2. No, care must be taken when making turns and causing danger when making u-turns is both dangerous and illegal.
    3. There is no minimal speed in Iceland, but in many conditions this can cause danger, but needs to be looked at case by case.
    Best regards,
    ÞI
    So to rephrase the discussion.
    It is legal to stop but it is illegal to cause danger. And as he states that is not often the case and thats where our problem is. I love my job but I would appreciate not getting killed almost every 10 minutes

    Interesting video, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you for editing and posting this.
    However, this is the first time I recall seeing you have somebody on camera that seemed to want to avoid it. I'm curious if that caused any conflict during the trip, and I also wonder if there's a reason you didn't edit "Bob" out of the video entirely rather than just hiding his face?

    • @sintax77
      @sintax77  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No conflict at all. He didn't mind being in the video, but showing his face wasn't an option for occupational reasons.
