    Other things I've done: 1) Swab early and swab often - prevention is key. When you've already got a gurgle it's too late. 2) Giving the clarinet a few light jarring bounces with the bell on one's thigh can disrupt trail formation in the bore. I tend not to use this one on general principal, but it can work.

    I remember my middle school band teacher pointing this out to us. I've been holding my clarinet like this ever since.

    When not playing, I hold my clarinet diagonally across my chest, with the MP end on my left shoulder and the trill keys up. This is a more secure way to hold your clarinet rather than on the right knee and it keeps it close to the body to keep it warmer and more in tune whilst playing rests ...

      Love working on his etudes. They're tough! But they still hold up as pretty solid music.
