This was THE episode that got me hooked onto Zoom as a kid. I was only 6. Before I came across it again just now, the only thing I remembered was the zebra cake. It's amazing I didn't remember Aaron Carter as the guest--that's crazy. After watching it again, I'm not surprised I got hooked way back when. This is an absolute classic. I had never seen other kids having this much fun and being natural in front of cameras, so it was really inspiring for someone like me who used to have terrible stage fright. With this show's help, I got over it. Now I'm in broadcasting.
I admit I'm a little biased towards Jared because I feel bad putting him beneath others. At the time I watched it Pablo and Keiko were my favorites of the five from just this season (I was only 5...maybe not old enough to truly appreciate Jared's greatness) . But even if he was alive I'd definitely consider him at least as good as them now, no matter what. Lynese as well.

Lynese did such a great job in the cafe. She didn't have to make an entire cake so the fact that she still took the time to do it shows her dedication to ZOOM. And I'm sure the other ZOOMers got to try it later on.

It seems a little sad how things ended up. They seemed to be a happy family, and when Aaron's money raked in, the dysfunction began, though the seeds were already sewn beforehand.
I'm 27 years old, and I can still watch zoom and be JUST as inspired as I was then. Kids had such a thirst for knowledge back then, such creativity that i don't see now. Forgive me for sounding cliche but, kids just dont seem to have that wide eyed curiousity now, and they dont thirst for knowledge cause they have access to answers right at their fingertips. The 90s and early 2000s kids had to work for what we wanted to research and know, which gave us incentive to hold on to what we learned, now that incentive isn't really there anymore because they can easily look up what they don't know. I think there's a sort of "hunter" in us, that likes to learn and experience things, and likes a bit of challenge, but with such easy internet access, the "hunt" isn't there anymore, which might be the cause of so much anxiety and dissatisfaction
I was commenting on a 90's kid Facebook page and was reminded of this show which I watched every day after school and even sent in a craft suggestion once. So sad that Jared passed away in 2006 in a car accident ( we were about the same age when he passed), and now Aaron about 2 weeks ago. 😔😢

We had zebra cake on Christmas eve this year. It was really good. My sister and I ended up eating most of it, it was so addicting. And it was much longer than the one here.
I taught technical communication to students at a university, and I used the PB&J skit as an idea for an activity: Writing instructions (to me) on how to make the sandwich. I divided them into groups and then after they wrote instructions, dictated to me how to make the sandwich, using the ideas on technical writing we discussed in class. Thankfully, all the sandwiches turned out great.
Considering we would usually have zebra cake at Thanksgiving and in 1999, this episode aired just two Fridays before Thanksgiving, I'd say I saw it at the right time! 😃
the zoom guest for this episode is a nightmare. that boy is being pushed into fame waaaay too early. when I was that age I used imagination and enjoyed the simple things in life.
The peanut butter & jelly zinger reminds me of this ubbi dubbi skit when Pablo was trying peanut butter, but when he took a bite, the spoon got stuck in his mouth and he couldn’t speak!!!! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 I wish I saw it again because I only remember seeing it once sadly. Plus, I was very little. 😔

I think it's partly she didn't get to be on the good years of ZOOM, where I feel she would have worked better, and partly because she was only in 20 episodes and didn't even get any solo activities during that time. And also because there are so many great ZOOMers.
My favorite 5 person activity of the season since they didn't all appear together. 5-person activities didn't work well this year since I have 6 favorites, so either David was in them or one of my favorites got left out.
Part of me hopes the missing ones have at least one other, but another part of me hopes they don't since nothing could top this one. With that said, this is the only one described in the online episode guides, and the last (if not the first) of the season and series.

I think the pairing for the sci was all wrong. Alisa and Zoe seemed to have some issues to work out so I think Alisa and Keiko should have worked together instead since they rarely ever did. I would have had Jared and Pablo work together so it would be a even match. I hate when its only 3 girls and 1 guy. So uneven.
I wonder if they filmed the zinger with David and Keiko as well. I'm fine that David wasn't in it but it would be cool to see Keiko. Anyways the fact that she and Jared were in the sci together made up for it.
It doesn't feel right with the 5 best (your top 5 or mine) though because then a great ZOOMer gets left out. Oh well, I guess it's fair to not let David be the only one left out. I wonder if my top 5 ever got a scene together?
The ones I chose don't have plays at all. Yes, 114 is the cup game. It also features Pablo and Keiko making Balloon Cars and Jared and Alisa's psychic zinger, so it's a pretty good one, although I think it also had Zoe making sawdust art. I could be wrong though.

Finally found it!
I think the pairing for the sci was all wrong. Alisa and Zoe seemed to have some issues to work out so I think Alisa and Keiko should have worked together instead since they rarely ever did. I would have had Jared and Pablo work together so it would be a even match. I hate when its only 3 girls and 1 guy. So uneven.
I really liked it since it was my top 4 ZOOMers, but I don't like that Zoe and Alisa argued in it. They did much better in 215.

I wonder if they filmed the zinger with David and Keiko as well. I'm fine that David wasn't in it but it would be cool to see Keiko. Anyways the fact that she and Jared were in the sci together made up for it.
I like it the way it is since had my 5 favorites of the season. Keiko is great but the others are more special to me.
It doesn't feel right with the 5 best (your top 5 or mine) though because then a great ZOOMer gets left out. Oh well, I guess it's fair to not let David be the only one left out.
I wonder if my top 5 ever got a scene together?

The ones I chose don't have plays at all. Yes, 114 is the cup game. It also features Pablo and Keiko making Balloon Cars and Jared and Alisa's psychic zinger, so it's a pretty good one, although I think it also had Zoe making sawdust art. I could be wrong though.
