I'm happy with the way this turned out. I was watching TV one night and looked at the window and wondered if black art would work. And after playing around with this a bit, I had the light bulb moment where I realized that the card could be on the other side. Thanks.
I don't see why there must be a card attached to the black cloth; the cloth by itself would do just fine. Furthermore, magicians often ask people to sign one of the cards; next thing, their very own signed card pops up stuck to the other side of the window! This to me defies explanation, and this video does nothing to help to understand it.
The black cloth is just there to help with the visual of the card appearing. You’re right. Working with a signed card is an entire new trick that complicates things.
