Steve Howe, who appears in this video at 17:48 grew up in Clarkston, Michigan, so he would have seen Aurelio Rodriguez in his Little League days, as the trade of Denny McLain brought Rodriguez, Joe Coleman and Eddie Brinkman to Detroit. Aurelio had his best year in 1970, and certainly kept himself in the bigs with his glove, rather than his offense. I saw that spinning Aurelio strikeout swing (10:38) plenty of times, on Tigers broadcasts in my youth.
you said it, John! I grew up in Southfield. Aurelio was my fave bc of that golden glove. He was overshadowed by Nettles and Robinson in the AL East. Glad he got WS exp[erience .
How many times he would scoop a grounder, plant, and fire a strike to Norm Cash at first base, sometimes from the left field grass. Somethings you can't unsee, you know?
I remember Aurelio when he as an Angel in late 60's when I was a young Angel and Dodger Fan in Southern California. A fine ball player. What a shame he lost his life in such a tragic unfortunate way. RIP Aurelio, thank you for your time in MLB and with the Angles.
@@jimmyReesby Aurelio Rodriguez could throw a baseball like bullet third/ base to first/ base ;; second base is a different story ; I remember Greg nettle put on a third / base catching clinic in 1978 world series
@@jimmyReesby I just said he had a great throwing arm;; I talk to fans of different teams ; we could argue forever; it best to talk to fans of different teams ; I an elvis presley fans ;; I cannot talk machiel Jackson fans about who sold the most records;;
As a Tigers fan, I enjoyed watching Norm Cash's glove explode in a cloud of dust when Rodriguez had to put a little extra on his throw across the diamond. What a fielder, with his "Black Hand" glove!

2 sonorenses Aurelio Rodriguez y Fernando Valenzuela.
Best infield arm I ever saw. Wish he could hit a little better. He left us way too soon.
Seems like every tiger game we attended Aurellio Rodriguez hit a home run
