I was born in 65, and I remember that the magazine Christmas editions coming out was a huge deal. It was the only place to get pretty pics and recipes. No internet then.
My mom's Osteriser blender from the 70s died in 2023. Thank you for all the memories you post, they warm my heart and I see my elderly mom in a whole new light. THANK YOU!!!
My goodness. Can you believe that. It's as bad as my 25 year old deep freeze dieing. Or the 10 yr old laptop getting a blue screen of death. Seriously, it's honestly devastating ❤😢 My mixer is gonna go soon (20 ys old)
Wow! In 1972, it was our First Christmas in the house which I now own. I was 18, newly graduated from High School, working in a local bank. My Aunt & Uncle were also in their new home, having relocated from Hartford, CN that April. What a grand Christmas it was! Aunt & Uncle, my Paternal Grandparents all in our new home. The house was filled with such joy and promise of many years and I am still here, all the others having Christmas with He who’s Birth we celebrate! Thanks, Anna, Merry .Christmas to you and yours! 🎄⭐️⛄️
Ohmy goodness..this brought back so many memories. I was in my second year of law school in "72. I wore those little apron baby doll like cute things in the vacuum cleaner ad-so fashionable!. I got married in 81 and I used Electrasol for my dishwasher. I received a Hamilton Beach little yellow electric mixer for my bridal shower which I still have, my daughter in law uses it too when she comes home and t's in perfect condition after 43 years (USA made). As a newlywed with no idea about cooking etc I started reading Family Circle and Woman;s Day. I'd cut out the recipes and paste them in my recipe file-which I still have. . This was so wonderful! I hope you will take us down memory lane again. Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas!
At 15:20 just imagine how long it took the artist to hand draw and color that large 2 page spread. No computers involved, only ink and patience. In the bottom right corner is the artists’ name = BETTY FRASER
I was 13 in 1972. How funny to see the magazine ads and such --Popcorn ceilings with sparkles ( asbestos of course), young women in cigarette ads, wild patterned carpeting in the kitchens and bathrooms (that you could never get clean). Some things should stay gone!😅 Love seeing the Christmas treats, and the Cat Fancy magazine! Thank you, Anna, for the mid-week video! Merry Christmas🎄😀❤️
That was a rough Christmas for me. I turned 23 in the fall. Dad died in March that year leaving my sister (19), and my little brother (4) and sister (1) and my sad self. My sister and I were afraid our step mom would be too sad to do much shopping for the little ones so we hit K Mart big time. She did buy nice quality toys for them but they were happy for the junky toys from us (Santa), too. I think that was the time the miniature Christmas lights were getting popular and the big debate about those. On a happier note, Mom had the red and white Christmas tree. I will have to ask her what happened to it. Anna, please have a wonderful and safe holiday. You bring joy to so many. Thank you.
I was born in the 80s but this really reminds me of things my parents had. I love your videos thank you for bringing back some joy merry christmas to you and your family.🎄
I was 6yrs old in 1972 in upstate NY. That summer we had a flood. The flood was caused by hurricane Agnes. You're bringing back childhood memories. We had an aluminum tree with blue bulbs and a light with a disk of different colors that turned and shined on the tree.
Casa Mia Vintage does a lot of wonderful retro and vintage magazine flip-throughs, and she has a site to buy from. I had to show the Better Homes and Gardens issue from 1966 flip-through to a friend. For one reason only- although we thoroughly enjoyed the whole video- and that was the little Christmas castles... made from cigarette packaging repurposed and painted to build said Christmas castles. Reduce, reuse, recycle I guess! I love the glimpses we get through these precious time capsules.
Oh Anna, what an INCREDIBLE Video!!! WOW! I have so many thoughts running thru my mind. Having been born in 78, My folks had a few of these things, but the thing that sticks out for me is that Presto Electric Skillet! My folks cooked with that for years, I even remember it in my early High School years. Dang, what a blast from the past. I wonder what happened to the Bauer family, and if the kids will see this video! lol Thanks for sharing this Anna. SO cool.
I was 12 when this magazine came out. The pinafores that the girls are wearing could be a nod to holly hobbie which was coming into popularity in the 70's. I remember wearing shirts that were in the style of a pinafore with the ruffles going down the sides of the front and square neckline.
Thank you so much for sharing this magazine! 1972 was the year my dad & stepmom married. Dad passed away in early October, so I haven't really been feeling the Christmas this year. This put a smile on my face. SO many cigarette ads!😄
I was 6 in 1972. We did have pinafore dresses to wear for Christmas around that time. My bestie had that colorful carpet in her KITCHEN and my dad was a HotPoint appliance repairman!
I love vintage magazines especially the Christmas editions. For my birthday last month, my sister gave me a Better Homes and Gardens Christmas ideas magazine from 1957. I wish I could attach a photo of the cover but I'm not sure how to do that. The original price to purchase this back then was a $1.25 and I feel like that was kind of high for that time period. It must have been a special edition. I had so much fun looking through it. I think I found the original recipe that my grandma used to make fudge.
Lots of nostalgia. I was 13 in 1972. Lots of things looked familiar especially the frosting squares. I do not remember this magazine. My mom loved magazines like MCCalls
Say it ain't so! Cooking the Books in my notifications on a Wednesday???? I left my house at 5:10 this morning and just got home at 8:30 pm ---- what a lovely treat after a long ass day!! Christmas came a week early.
I was a teen when this issue came out. I'm so glad those cigarette ads no longer exist. They never convinced me to smoke. This magazine's brings back sweet memories. Thank you, Anna. 🎄☃️💚❤️ P.S. Cute puppy shirt!
I graduated HS in June of 1972. Oh my! Seems like yesterday. I never heard of that magazine but then I was into Vogue and all the fashion magazines. “ Merry Christmas “ 🎄 Thank you for all you do, I no longer cook but really enjoy watching you and remembering the things that we’re all around me.😊
Anna you are a true Joy. Mostly i have you on the TV. Tonight on my phone. What a nice magazine and published same year your oarents where married how xlextra special. Thank you Anna for aharing with us.
Gosh but this brought back memories! My little family lived in a house left to us with a harvest gold fridge. That thing is still running over there. We moved because it really was a fire hazard.
Anna, feel free to make these videos even longer and go into more detail...if you want! We are loving it! Encouragement all over the place! ❤ Merry Christmas!
13:50 Panda Needlepoint Kits--Richard Nixon created a sensation when he visited China and established strong diplomatic relations in 1972 and they gave us two pandas for the DC Zoo, Ling-Ling and Hsing-Hsing--this was termed "panda diplomacy". This created panda-monium all over the US, to the point that people were needle-pointing pandas and much more!
A bull dog wearing a bowler hat!? In love! Where did you get that sweater Anna? 👀 Enjoyed the magazine flip through but astonished at all the cigarettes ads. They were every few pages. I've totally forgotten that used to be a thing.
Today there will be an alcohol add but not one for smokes, which I kind of feel is really weird on the fact that they both kill family's weather they drink or smoke or not.

My Osteriser from the 70's passed to me 45 years ago.... still blending ...sad about the passing of yours
I had an Osterizer blender for years. Bought it at a flea market for $3 in 1988 and it died in 1996. It was well built. I got a lot of use out of it.

I think an aspect of vintage holidays that I think should make a comeback is gifting homemade canned goods! It's so thoughtful and frugal 🙂

My high school graduation was in June of 1973. what a time to be alive! Merry Christmas and God bless 💖✝🎄
I was born in the 80s but this really reminds me of things my parents had. I love your videos thank you for bringing back some joy merry christmas to you and your family.🎄
What a fun video! I dont remember this magazine but my mom ALWAYS bought the Christmas magazines for hosting ideas and so on.
From one 80s kid to another. I adore you and your videos. Not only do I make the recipes, I’ve started collecting the magazines and cookbooks you use.
That 1972 kitchen resembles today’s kitchen designs and decor. This was a fun and nostalgic video. Thanks for sharing!
What a relaxing video. I was 13 in 1972, and my mom got all the ladies' magazines, and I loved looking through them.
I was 6yrs old in 1972 in upstate NY. That summer we had a flood. The flood was caused by hurricane Agnes. You're bringing back childhood memories. We had an aluminum tree with blue bulbs and a light with a disk of different colors that turned and shined on the tree.
Ours was a gold aluminum tree with red balls and candy canes! I have my folks color wheel still.

December’72 was my first Christmas. Love this! Thank you

Holly Hobbie ruled!!
I highly enjoyed this nostalgic episode. Fun to look back in time. All the cig ads lol
Love flip throughs! Thank you!
Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones, Anna ❤
Thank you so much for sharing this magazine! 1972 was the year my dad & stepmom married. Dad passed away in early October, so I haven't really been feeling the Christmas this year. This put a smile on my face. SO many cigarette ads!😄
So sorry, God bless and hold you through this rough time.
I have waited patiently and got my reward. Thank you Anna ❤

Thank you for the flip through!
I did take a screenshot of that doily tree. It looks like a fun Christmas craft. 😊
Say it ain't so! Cooking the Books in my notifications on a Wednesday????
I left my house at 5:10 this morning and just got home at 8:30 pm ---- what a lovely treat after a long ass day!! Christmas came a week early.
I worked for Cat and Dog Fancy magazines for 4 years (1990-94).
This was a delightful revisiting of the past, I turned 9 in December of 1972!
I was a teen when this issue came out.
I'm so glad those cigarette ads no longer exist. They never convinced me to smoke.
This magazine's brings back sweet memories. Thank you, Anna. 🎄☃️💚❤️
P.S. Cute puppy shirt!
That was so fun!! Peak childhood for me and my sister. I remember so many of those adds!
Cat Fancy magazine... was this the pre-internet version of cat videos? 🐈 😂 I can imagine being thrilled with a new delivery each month!
I like the christmas ideas for the dogs 🤗
I graduated HS in June of 1972. Oh my! Seems like yesterday. I never heard of that magazine but then I was into Vogue and all the fashion magazines.
“ Merry Christmas “ 🎄
Thank you for all you do, I no longer cook but really enjoy watching you and remembering the things that we’re all around me.😊
I must be around your parents' ages. Thank you for the nostalgic look back.
My husband had that Osterizer blender when we started dating in 1975. It was gold.
Enjoyed the perusal of this gem from the past! We had a harvest gold stove, sink, and refrigerator at my home, too! ❤
Seeing your magazine, reminded me of the ones my aunt sent to her...Family Circle, Woman's Day, Redbook, and the crocheting ones.
I don’t remember this magazine. But in ‘72 I was a senior in high school and doing all the teenage things. Merry Christmas Anna!
Very nice ! I wax 10 in 1970
I used to buy those magazines-I loved them!!!
Anna you are a true Joy. Mostly i have you on the TV. Tonight on my phone. What a nice magazine and published same year your oarents where married how xlextra special. Thank you Anna for aharing with us.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! 😊

Wow... 35 cents for the magazine. Now they are the price of a book! So cool to see
I love jello salad!
I was a 70s child. My Nana had all these nostalgia books/mags. Thank you and happy holidays!
Fantastic video! I have a large collection of magazines from the 50’s and 60’s. Love the old ads! Thanks so much!
What fun, I totally enjoyed looking at that magazine with you! I was about 6 when it came out
loved this video! Thank you
I remember all those ads- even Big Wally lol
Loved this!!
Love this thank you🎉🎉🎉
I remember looking through my Mom-Mom’s copies! Wow… brought back happy memories. Bet the advertisements are crazy
I had my both of my girls that mo/yr. One was almost two and the other was 8 months old. We were living in upstate NY!
Anna, feel free to make these videos even longer and go into more detail...if you want! We are loving it! Encouragement all over the place! ❤
Merry Christmas!
I’m stuck on the Encyclopedia Brittanica advert 😂 I was still a 5 month old bun in the oven in Dec. 1972, but definitely remember those 70’s colors.
Anna, believe it or not there used to be cigarette ads in the middle of paperback novels.
The little girl dress is "Holly Hobbie"
I was born in 71. ❤
I was surprised to see the term "inner child" on one of the pages. I didn't hear that term until around 1990. And did you notice that 7 cent coupon?!
Remember the book “I’m OK, You’re OK”? That was out about this time.
nice
A bull dog wearing a bowler hat!? In love! Where did you get that sweater Anna? 👀 Enjoyed the magazine flip through but astonished at all the cigarettes ads. They were every few pages. I've totally forgotten that used to be a thing.
Great hello
I was 3 in 72.
Ho! Ho! Ho! 🎅🎄😀
Where did you get that adorable sweater!?
I thrifted it, but it was originally sold at Target under the Merona brand. 😊
Most cigarette makers stopped doing magazine ads around 2000.
They were banned in 1989 I believe
The girl's dresses in the first story look like they are from Polly Flinders.
my husband and I were married in 1972
Today there will be an alcohol add but not one for smokes, which I kind of feel is really weird on the fact that they both kill family's weather they drink or smoke or not.
The thing that stands it to me is that this was the world before PLASTIC took over and polluted everything! 😢
