Looks Kool way to slow i had a 48" boat it was a turd traded for a 8' airplane Big Bingo way more fun go electric then u will have fun im sorry I didn't
@@57chevyconv electric is the only way to go. Just like the pwc. 4stroke is the way to go unless your the few people that can tune that shit. I cannot lol. Spent all weekend trying to tune my waveblaster. It sucks lol
I have the original Rockstar 48. I think the build quality went down on this. There's much bigger canopy vents, no bailers and no cooling issues. It's still all worth it on that maiden run, no 8s packs that last 10mins. I'll trade running it all afternoon on a gallon of gas for speed anyday. Mine has a ported barrel, skimmed head, a bigger Walboro carb, with a balanced and polished race prop. It does 65mph which is plenty fast enough to get into trouble. Enjoy your boat dude, she's a beauty. 👏👏
Super sweet!!! Had a friend back in the 90s that was into these 2 stroke boats. Haven't seen one run in over 20 years. Great to see this bring back when i seen these run in person..
You could also throw some 50mm fans in the the back. Put one on each port hole blowing out. That should suck alit of the hot gasses that are building up back there. She is a sweet looking boat though. The colors look outstanding against that white hull.
My first impression was that it’s not very fast. With that much engine that thing should be flying. It also needs to be trimmed up a little. It’s running wet.
It was only at 1/2 throttle. It easily outruns the camera boat and gets up on the steps when you open it up all the way. It’s just hard to film/ drive flat out at the same time. Haha. I almost need three people. One person the drive the camera boat, one to film and one to drive the Zelos.
Prob should add an electric bilge pump. I seen rc sailors did a review on an electric boat that had bilge pump which also played a part in self righting on a roll over. It would fill up with water and then flip back up and then pump water out. Cool boat. Seems like for sure a headache but equally a challenge to overcome. Sounded rich a lot of the time. Maybe see if you can get a better carb that will adjust better. I’ve always Street/feel/sound tuned my quads and bikes. I start at the bottom of throttle range and work one section at a time until bottom mid and top are good. Last I get a new plug install it and do an immediate wide open pass and kill the engine at wot. Check plug to make sure it’s not white (lean) or black(rich) but a nice grey color. I like a little darker just a hair on the rich side. I want no part of rc boats lol. I have enough real boat headaches. But I fly and fly rc planes and helis.
You using those pumps in the same line that holger water originally? Or made other holes for those pumps. Because I thinks in the high speed those pumps runing slow tham the original setup, or not?
Pumps are in the same line. The flow might be slower than it would’ve been originally when the boat is at top speed, but I’ve eliminated the heat problems I had before.
Helpful TIP. Gravity fed fuel leans out the engine as the fuel level drops. Always run engine rich on a full tank then near tank empty it’s not running lean. And less likely to flame out. Stall.
What an absolute nightmare, I feel bad for ya man, You truly got shafted on this boat, So glad you got it working, It sounds amazng, I do love me some 2stroke gas action! Thanks for sharing as always!
He didn't get shafted on the boat. Everyone has to set these boats up when they unbox them. They are not tuned and pre-ran at the factory before they get shipped out and If he was unaware he became aware very fast. There is a group on Facebook that deals specifically with set ups and trouble shooting issues that arise... and all of these issues are covered in content there. Once the boat motor is broke in and the carb is tuned it runs like a dream. There's nothing else to say about it. You either love it or you hate it. There's no grey area with it.
Love the high cost, high maintenance, fuel mixing , insane amount of tuning, cooling issues in gas RC’s, plus they’re really slow and way underpowered. Sadly the best part of gas RC’s is, not owning one.
I agree with the pumps but where I live water is usually pretty cold I have a little diprham pump to put on it that runs off crank case pressure .mine took few runs get broken in and debuged. Now it is great ..can always use upgrades but what rc doesn't .I just rembered mine had leak in tank when I got it but had it replaced under warenty no problem .
The rc boat racing community could help you address a lot of your mechanical issues. Since you aren't racing your boat, chances are that water is coming into your hull from leaks in your water lines. Ie, your literally pumping water inside the hull. Hope this helps.
It’s running to wet . The rear of the sponsons should be the only wet part . Kick the back of the prop up a little at a time , should raise the nose up some . That boat should fly after break in .
Just wondering if anybody on here has used a universal engine. Mount on mezelo's 48 reason. I'm asking I? Recently. Got a used one but? The guy caught the. Rear? Mounts? For the motor off? Is it the electric conversion? And I'm trying trying to get it to work to bring strength back to the mounts.
That's a lot of smoke. That engine is choking on fuel. Worse come to worse, you could pressurize the fuel tank like nitro engines. I'm surprised it isn't from the factory. Even 2 stroke airplanes get pressurized tanks. A water cooled engine full of fuel should not be overheating, even with the stock pickups. You may have debris clogging the rudder... happens to Outboard motors all the time.
I think some 2 stroke airplanes have pressurized fuel tanks because they can go upside down/ fly at crazy angles and can’t re-prime them selves….. not positive about that… yeah, she was running a bit rich. It definitely wasn’t overheating due to a clog…. It would just overheat when the boat was stationary during tuning and idling out to deep water.
That was approximately 1/2 throttle. The boat I was filming from was running flat out, and if I went full throttle it would just zoom past and didn’t look very good on camera. I agree though, she was a little rich.
yep fuel lines and a good cleaning of a hammer. is a must fer me i only buy junk lol so i am well versed with tinkering i need to build someing like this yo many ideas oh well one can dream a bit fer now i had an old one i gave away yard sale find large racing nitro motoer thing a bit smaller that the one in this video ,i wished i kept it as the guy i gave it to is a dork and will never use it lol

1 to 1 boats use fans at the air flow OUT to help get the toxic/hot air out of the boat..maybe a 40x40 fan to aid the out airflow? Just an idea 💡
