To be clear, after a lifetime of dog ownership, I have never met a vet who didn't exhibit kindness, patience, and a huge love for animals. I've discovered that it takes a very special breed of humans to study veterinary medicine.

@@maryoleary2037 I have. There are three very bad ones close to where I live. One is a liar who pads his bills by doing unnecessary procedures, one over-vaccinates for extra profits--he walks in the room & instantly jabs a vaccination needle into your pet whether they need it or not--without permission, & every singe visit, and one is incompetent and unrepentant about it--she accidentally killed my cat, with a slow and painful death, and didn't even apologize. My heart still aches for what she did to my sweet cuddle kitty, and it's been several years.
I have to take my cat I have now to the next city over where I found (finally!) an actual good vet.
If you love your furry ones, be very, very careful when you pick a vet.
The one in this video seems wonderful.

I used to be as naive as you about vets, taking my healthy dogs to get their shots etc, thinking all vets are in it for the right reasons and are competent .
….and then I had an incompetent vet to be responsible for the death of not one but two of my dogs- and I have never been as naive as you ever again. I gave the guy a break the first time and my second dog paid for it .
You really don’t know how good a vet is until you have a sick or injured dog. Any d fool can give maintenance shots and do “ wellness exams.”
You can tell so much about a man by the way he handles the vulnerable; animals, children, and the elderly

You can gauge his empathy but if he’s too empathetic that’s not a good thing. Empathy is the antithesis of cold detachment and cold detachment is a requirement for leadership. Leaders who don’t have cold detachment make decisions based on emotions rather than logic and critical reasoning…

It's what works for him animals dont actually need it, or kids for that matter. Its just how he conveys intention and understanding.

@@ES11777 they dont strictly need babying like I said. Just the people that do it care enough to do it thinking that's what matters. The animals sense the intent, what's actually being said doesnt matter so much.
Just theres not a lot of people who can isolate intent.
I've never babied kids or animals like this. They understand they can trust me because my intent is always pure and in their interest. And the reason I dont do it is because I dont like putting on act for anyone and see it as disrespectful.

I subscribe to this vet's instagram and he is WONDERFUL with every single animal that comes through that practice. He clearly adores and cares for each one of them and actually takes the time to earn their trust before doing anything in the exam room. It is so amazing and comforting to watch. My dog has been limping, and the vet just said he's overweight. Well, he's lost 10 pounds now and still limping. I'd like to know what to look for.
When I trimmed one of his nails, he jerked. But nothing felt off. I'm too scared to trim them again.
@@kikijewell2967you may have trimmed that nail a bit too much. If I’m correct, dogs actually have nerves in their nails.

They were all about the same too-lonh length, and only one got a yelp. So I need to take a better look.

The vet did a good job but I will say that every good vet possesses those exact same skills. Over the years I've seen tons of vets in action and they almost all act just the way that guy did. ❤🐕

I know that look. My golden girl Izzy had to go yesterday, she's 13 1/2. They took good care of her, doc told her how soft she is and gave her 3 treats.
