I would think working out in the forest alone, bucking a tree like that, with the root ball possibly springing back, that anti-climatic is exactly what you would want. 😆
Haha, you guessed right!
Bug the reality is that those of us that work I the woods often work alone. Just the way it is
Terrific video. Clear, concise explanation of bucking techniques on big suspended trees.
Excellent video and nice to see a true professional logger working rather than so many cowboys we see on TH-cam. 👍🏻
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Nice technique! Clear instructions, thank you!
Masterfully done!
Excellent video with great instructions
You are right about the stumps sometimes going down immediately, and the tree standing up suddenly, once cut. I have had that happen twice in a day with two medium-small Red Oaks. They had 15-18' of log above ground. The root system, especially while in wet season, make them very heavy. I was very surprised.
Thanks for sharing your expertise. You provided some good tips and you make it look easy…
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Great video, very well explained.
Great video! You're helping me stay out of hot water..
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching and commenting
Beautiful tree and nice video.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great video--thanks.
I'm learning how to buck logs, but it often goes wrong, e.g., bar pinched, or chain hits the dirt.
This video is very helpful.
You inspried me to make another video about bucking logs. It should be coming out in the next few weeks. Thanks for watching!
@@SJForestProducts , great, thanks, looking forward to it
Ream Bucking helps in that Situation also keeping Ones Bar from being pinched
Cool video, I like the floral arrangement on the front of your skider 🤔👌🧡🧡
Thanks! 😊
Good show! 😉
Thanks! 😃
Great to see a Pro Working, tired of all the yahoos
Thanks! About to tackle a similarly blown down tree.
Glad you enjoyed it! Be safe out there
Good shit bro 🤙
Thanks man!
Great video. Just one question.
Does your saw know you're wear that brand of chaps?
Although this is more controlled, could you just do one undercut like on smaller logs?
Which cc saw did u use ?
Thinking of buying for firewood would a 290 or 300+ stihl be enough, what is your recommendation ?
I thank you in advance Gunter
Really interesting video! How much are these logs worth?
thank you for making this video, I learned a lot!
Would it be possible to cut a tree like this with a 16 inch blade?
Good use of ear defenders ;) just kidding, great video, thanks
Haha, I use earplugs. I can't get a good seal with those muffs!
Was that a bunch of poison ivy all around? Thanks for great video!
Your hearing protection does it work just as good on the top of your head, as it would covering your ears? Im 59 and 80% deaf from being around loud tools and machines. It really sucks when your around friends and you dont know what there talking about, you just nod your head or say yeah like you do know. It's lonely not being part of the conversation. Any young people out there watching this, use your PP, personal protection at all times. You may think its not too loud, but it is. Examples/ power tools-all of them, rock concerts, lawn mowers, your stereo, air tools, motor cycles, muscle cars. Good video. Take care, stay safe.
Thanks for the comment. I wear ear plugs because I can't get a good enough seal with those muffs. Always use hearing protection
@@SJForestProducts You know it.
Thanks for this video. I have a fallen tree in my front yard that I will need to buck siminar to what you've done. It's smaller in diameter, but you've given me several good ideas in how to handle it.
I noticed that you do a plunge on the botton of the log. Does it take a specific type of chain to do that?
Also, how big is your bar? Looks like a 24".
He said 28
🍻👍
Crazy, this guy looks just like the guy from mt baker mining and metals
What happens to the top ? Do you just leave it alone ?😮
Never thought that bucking a log could cause basically a barber chair....
Oh yeah, it can be really dangerous
I really don't get it as soon as I cut through my bar gets stuck pretty much everytime
How long is your saw. I have a downed tree about the same size but I was thinking my 18 saw might be too little
That is a 28" bar. With an 18" you can do it, just need to buck it from both sides. Good luck and stay safe
He is Running What looks like a 28" Bar. I Believe..
What chain saw are you using in this video?
Believe It's 462 c
Hey arent you the gold mining guy?! Nice vids!
Yep that's me! Thanks for watching!
Saw mill: Yeah, if you could give us an extra 10 inches on each end, that would be great.
Oh yeah, why don't you go ahead and cut 2 inches off your diameter measurements too?
Logger then: You're going to pay for that, right?
Saw mill: lol NO. What are you going to do, build your own saw mill?!
Logger now: You know Alaskan mills exist, right?
What were they worth?
I think I was getting about $600 per 1000 BF for the hemlock
What happened to MBMM?
Still going strong, just running TWO channels now! Twice as much work!
Well.. how much is a log truck load... Get ya...roughly of course...
For cedar I am getting between $4,000-$5,000 per load
Curious why you have eye and hearing protection but choose not to use them, effectively using your head as a hat rack.
Good video. I'm surprised you are not using any hearing protection. Normally not a safety Nazi, I've done my share of sketchy stuff but all the real professional loggers on YT seem religious about the ear muffs. Just sayin.
Cheers,
Tom
Hi Tom. Thanks for watching and commenting. In all my vids and whenever I am using my saw I always wear ear plugs. I have found with those muffs I don't get as good of hearing protection as I do with plugs. Also those muffs get all dirty, sweaty, and itchy. Thanks!
Ear protection and shield up......lol....seriously though...I've been backwards before (helmet on but nothing above me....bucking with shield and ear protection up).
adverts adverts adverts spoilt this
Thanks for the feedback
"Safely"? Ear muffs on helmet & visor up - Great advice???
What on earth... What the hell is that wierd buggy your driving...
What is that thing... It's so odd looking...
Its called a Skidder. Mine is about 50 years old, but the new ones do the same think, just look a lot cooler
His equipment is bad A🧡👌👍👍💪
