Markov, He inspires me to pracitce and build on each skill. WOW.. I love his talent. Would love to one day learn more from him in a masters class. What a great gift he has...
I admire the fact that he is telling people not to make exaggerated movements nor facial expressions, lot of the old masters like Heifetz, Menuhin, or Milstein barley move in a performance. unlike most violinist today with all the moments and facial expressions can annoy the audience
I myself like to see the musician react to the music that is happening, as long as it doesn't distract from the performance. For example When ray chen opens his eyes wide during a difficult passage and focuses more, or when kavakos bangs/shakes his head during accents.
thankyou alexander, you make me cry when you play, what a wonderful gift. i wonder if you could give me some advice. i have had tendonitis in my elbow from playing my violin. it has been 9 weeks and i havent played at all. it is so painful when it gets better, hopefully soon. what can i do to avoid getting tendonitis. thankyou,
This was really great and I appreciate it very much! I am an adult beginner violinist and saw some of your You Tube performances. I know you are HUGE in the violin world, but your words speak to just about anyone at any point in violin. Thank you, Alexander Markov, and thank you especially for your music!
heyyyyyy Markov you are really very good, congratulations,I hope be able to play as you one day,but for while I 'm learning la folia of corelli, hahah, but now that I downloaded your videos of paganini's caprices ,you became my inspiration, and I will get there if God wish, and I'm sure He will. you are the better!!!!!
If someone wants to swing out of the Chandelier while playing then its up to that person. Dont ever let anyone tell you how you should or should not play. As long as you are making music you love, go for it.
I should say you are simply just too awesome your technique is like it feels like the violin is the easiest instrument when you play it trust me you seriously have some Talent in yourself I have been watching this channel for about 2 days now and I'm so impressed if you don't mind can I ask you for a lesson on how to keep a straight bow and good vibrato techniques and producing a beautiful don't like you when you play Fast and slow on the violin ???? thanks a lot
It's like Shawn Lame demonstrating lightning speed wide interval skipping shreds then going "yeah and you can pick that too". Everyone is "wait what?".
oh my god!!! amo a este hombre, i´m in love with him!!! amo todos sus aspectos y formas, me encantaria que sea aunque sea mi amante, mi profe particular (le pago con todo!!!) a éste se lo perdona todo! wow how much talent he has, he´s my favorite musician ever in clasical music, is perfect, he really work hard for this, that´s why i admire him since i´m a little girl that played violin hehe...muackkk, violin and perfect man!you are my fantasie alwayssss
Yeah it's too hard for me to be on a stage......i start to fell sick.....and i stay like..omg i'm gonna die!! =P i hope this feeling gets away with time....
As he said, if it comes natural, then it makes sense. Many artists get overly dramatic without a necessity or reason and I don't like that either. Vengerov and Hilary Hahn are amazing artists and though Vengerov may over do it more than any other artist, no one can say anything because of how good he is. Markov knows that when he is 80, he won't be playing like that so why do that now is what he's trying to say.
more like Joshua Bell. Vengerov's movements are not exaggerated. He just expresses the feeling of the piece, but Bell move insanely with just about any piece
Yep, definitely Joshua Bell meant here.... Love his recordings, but I really get dizzy and a bit annoyed at how much he moves up and down on stage... Vengerov's still ok, though
Unfortunately, I didn't that much of value. In fact, I didn't really hear anything specific about practicing the violin at all. As a good example: Many students are never taught to practice in groups and rhythms, and so never develop efficiency in their practice (they just kind of hack away until they kind of start to get things, a hit-or-miss process that wastes a lot of time). So why diddle around with Zigeunerweisen when you really have nothing to say how to practice it? Why not discuss some difficulties of that work and show how they can be mastered? Obviously we have to be relaxed in front of an audience. But what are some specific ways to get there if we happen to be the 99.999% that aren't relaxed in public performance? If a musician of the stature is going to go to the trouble of making a video entitled "on violin practice" then I'd hope that they thought about exactly what they wanted to say, and address a specific technique. I got the feeling that he turned on the video, and then just spouted without any forethought.
Scott Cole Cannot wait to attend your masterclass, professor Cole! I'm sure you are not as 0.000001% famous as Markov but still seems like you are so fucking good at teaching! Shit!
This guy is not learning you anything apart from the fact that he talks alot. Whats the point of down loading this. He's a great player pratice does make perfect anybody could have told me that.
Not sure a violinist's career ("at any level") can last into his or her eighties. Of course, if you're a superstar people will come and watch you when you're that old and not very precise anymore, just because they want to to be able to say they have seen you in concert. But not when you're just a regular player.
He is such a master musician. I just love his playing
"contrary to popular belief, playing violin is...pretty easy...." FOR YOU MAYBE BUT NOT US MERE MORTALS
I WAS JUST GONNA SAY THAT HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
Markov,

Are you still playing? How's it going?
heyyyyyy Markov you are really very good, congratulations,I hope be able to play as you one day,but for while I 'm learning la folia of corelli, hahah, but now that I downloaded your videos of paganini's caprices ,you became my inspiration, and I will get there if God wish, and I'm sure He will.

Alexander seems pretty cool.

Yes, Go for it!
I remember your father playing the Beethoven with the Cape Town City Orchestra in the 70's. I was sitting in the front row.
Hello...I first met you when you were only 12 years old. So nice to see and hear you now. I hope your parents are well.

@jasonform he said necessary artificial any movement that he does is therefore necessary
To become as good as him or Heifetz, you should have a professional violinist father.
What piece was that in the beginning
Yep, definitely Joshua Bell meant here.... Love his recordings, but I really get dizzy and a bit annoyed at how much he moves up and down on stage... Vengerov's still ok, though
