Thank you doc for info.. I suffered from spinal stenosis for 4 long years . With L/4, L/5 affected . I’ve tried many treatments, including Physio, chiro, acupuncture, hydro, only get a little relief and back to square one. I cannot walk much, standing is painful, lying down is painful. I can only sleep on my side with a pillow between my legs . I got no life .Already seen Neurosurgeon and going to get another neurosurgeon for a second opinion. Im hesitant to have surgery. I look forward for your next video to get more insight about spinal stenosis surgeries .

My doctor asked me to have a spinal surgery in L4, L5 and S1 (based on my MRI result) on August 2022, but then I went to a pain centre and underwent Radio Frequency Therapy to relieve the pain. After the pain gone I do dead hang exercise 3 x 60 seconds each day, since November 2022 until today. Now the pain is almost gone, if the scale of pain is 1 - 10, my pain is around 0 - 3.5, and I continue to do the dead hang, it is very effective. I can continue my hobby: cycling. I agree that spinal surgery is the last option.

Dear Doctor Tony, I have suffered from what I consider is severe back pain for many many years. I have tried gaining relief from using Co-codamol, Paracetamol, Amitriptyline and tried Gabapentin for one month which had no positive effect. Recently I had an MRI scan on L4, L5 and S1 but I understand that this showed no deterioration from one taken 6 years earlier. The same nerve was slightly trapped as it was before. My brother retired as a GP 3 weeks ago. I discussed with him what I have recently discovered in that my left leg when standing can lift almost 90 degrees but my right leg will only lift 30 cm off of the floor. My brother, for all of his lifetime spent as a doctor does not know what is causing this. My pain is affecting my sleep, particularly when I go to bed and I have almost got to the point where I would rather not go. I am 75 years old, have spent a hard life in the construction industry but I am otherwise doing very well for my age. Could you possibly offer any advice please?

Had fusion @ L5-S1. Has cause more problems, scared tissue entraping the nerves. Has caused two above levels to go bad faster, now needing surgery. Now have foraminial stenosis @ L3-4 and L4-5. And severe at T10-11. Trying to find Dr. Who performs Endoscopic Foraminotomy in the N.J. Philadelphia area.

Hi doctor! I have severe degenerative spinal stenosis in my lower back along with a cyst and disk bulging from L5 to S1. I have done everything possible to help my back but nothing has helped and I’m so tired of being on pain medication just to try and function. I have had several injections and my sciatic nerves burnt a few times and that’s only helped temporarily. I’m at the point where my blood pressure is high from the pain and the pain goes all the way down both legs with a burning sensation as well as numbness. I can’t even enjoy life anymore. The pain medicine and the pain pump implanted in my stomach that releases morphine isn’t even working. I scream from the pain and it’s worse laying down. My doctor said that my spine is shrinking. I am scheduled to go see a neurosurgeon soon. Is there anything that you could suggest for me please? What is usually done for cases like mine?

Can ADR = ARTIFICIAL DISK REPLACEMENTS such as M6, ESP, ProDisk Ect., be used in correcting and curing 'SPINAL STENOSIS"?
Stenosis is the narrowing of either the Central Canal, (in which case then NO!) or the foraminal (Bilateral) spaces...Can ADR devices be used?

I am blessed by God to get to meet Dr Harish{ spinal surgeon} September 16th of this year. I am hoping they say yes to surgery because I am unable to turn/move my neck without dizziness, intense nausea that recently has been almost constant since Saturday{Sabbath) and only this morning did I get a reprieve after having caffeinated coffee. I know God is with me and my character and faith will grow through this struggle. (Joshua 1:9) and after this surgery I will need surgery in my back due to multiple bulging discs, mild stenosis, and nerve issues. NEVER GIVE US!!! YOU ARE NEVER ALONE!!! 1PRTR 1:6-11

Hello :) Im Maria. Today I had to have my stimulator removed from my lower back because it was causing me new pain in different areas , it was really awful very painful on top of the pain that I already have. I had it The Stimulator for about 3 years. At first it worked very well the pain was less and I was very happy. I was walking and exercising every other day. Now my Doctor told me about Vertiflex procedure, Im not sure I want to go though surgery again with 6 weeks with a gurdel, cannot do gurdel. Do you think Vertifex prucedure is right for me? I have consulted with my Doctor Just need your expertise. Thank you (Great Video)

Hi Dr, I have had X-rays and been diagnosed as follows: Lumbar spine severe L4-5, L5-S1 disc collapsed with bone on bone impression. Spinal Stenosis of Lumbar Spine. I am now awaiting an MRI of Lumbar Spine. Because my condition is already bone on bone, does this mean that surgery is the only credible option to alleviate the problem? Thanks in advance.

    laminectomy discectomy for L5-S1.
Question is if I have two herniated disks why he only doing one? He said my herniated got bigger compared to my first mri from

I have been through every treatment possible, with exception of surgery because I have been found to have severe reactions to anesthesias. I did attempt to under go ones surgery, but it was stopped due to heart problems and "roller coaster blood pressure problems. My question is will untreated spinal stenosis (which I am now homebound because of) become so severe it will cause death?

Dear Dr. Tony: Three years ago I had a back problem. Finally identified in MRI; I have a disc in all of my spine. And in the lumbar part; L 4; L5; S1 I have an internal hernia. Which is the same as stenosis. In 2019, I was finally forced to undergo L4 and L5 surgery in a hospital. My doctor said it had nothing to do with the disc. Loosen the L4 nut and shave the bone, leaving room for the swollen disc. I did not have any problems until 6 months after the operation. I got a new MRI three times. And every time the doctor said that the previous operation was very successful and there was no problem. But after 6 months I was in a lot of pain. I could not see a doctor during Corona. I got a new MRI in 2020 and saw that the L5S1 has a problem and the L1 Wall 2 Wall 3 are about to stall. With my own curiosity that I also know about nursing; I noticed that after the operation, his muscles melted due to sitting for about 20 cm after the operation. I started walking and gradually strengthened my back muscles. With Etelfort tablets; Kabapantin; I did not have 2 pains a day and I was comfortable and I had no problem sitting or working; Of course, by observing the condition of my waist. But now the pain is very severe and I did the exercise twice a day; I turned it into just 2 hours of walking.
    I have 2 questions.
1- If L5; S1 needed surgery, should I operate or continue with the same drugs and march?
2- Do you have a guide for me so that I can not go to the next action?
Thanks so much for taking so long

I had severe pain in my back running down to my left leg. I was diagnosed for spinal stenosis in the mri. I was advised to consider surgery if the pain persists, it has been about a month since the severe pain started , however the pain has subsided and has become bearable and I can walk and participate in some games I am interested in but still the nagging pain persists. Should I consider surgery.

Dr. I had a lumbar fusion L3-L4 in 2019. In that time they told I had stenosis. My dr told my he decompressed some nerves. After a year I started feeling bad again and today I can’t walk or stand longer than 15-20,min. I went to another dr and told me my dic in top of my fusion is bad now and my stenosis is worse. I do t want to keep getting g surgery. I will fix one sis and I will

I have stenosis and the back of my legs make it difficult for me to walk. Gabapentin seems to help and two Tylenol a day makes it better. I had an epidural which got rid of my leg pain, but I couldn’t walk for three months. Now instead of the mild pain in the back of my legs I;went in with, the pain is severe! Saw a surgeon who said I need a laminectomy and a fusion. He wants to use a metal rod for support. I know in CA they have rubber supports. I just don’t know what to do. Don’t want a metal rod in my back! Any suggestions? Thanks, Michele

I had that happen after getting epidurals in my lumbar for back pain. The way my Dr explained it is this. When one spot is treated and relieved of pain the brain focuses on the next part of the body needing help. Plus I am guessing muscles hurt due to compensating for the injured area.

Please consult your doctor. Surgery is not the only treatment. There are other options for milder symptoms. But for severe cases, surgery is the most definitive option

I had the surgery and a year later things are depressing. Pain in my legs ( hamstring area) is so bad I can’t even grocery shop. I have physical therapy starting Tuesday and have been subscribed some pills to help. MRI and X-rays Monday. Any suggestions?

If you open up the pandora’s box, you cannot really close it. The idea of decompression or fusions might help out in short or midterm but in long term, you ll need further surgeries due to the fact that the homeostasis in spine area is hampered.

I always read that emergency surgery is to be done after bowel or bladder incontinence. This is terrible.
