I believe the reason the audience is not giving Drake the same amount of trust as they do Kendrick is because of the of each artist's integrity (real or perceived). Kendrick, in his catalogue, has been self-critical and in those journeys, given back to the listener which has built trust. Drake, as he's grown bigger, only has shown a lack of self-awareness. In his music, the world is slighting him, women are always taking advantage of him. He's behaving like he's still a teenage boy in his feelings and can't seem to understand or admit to the dynamics of power when you're on top.
We don't believe him, not because Kendrick said he's a manipulator, but because we know Drake cares about streams, numbers, and perception. For example, why in this streaming era, where you can find a single easily, would you add Hotline Bling, a single that released almost 10 months before Views as a bonus track? We have for years heard about how he's a vulture (where are his UK friends now?), and it continues to this day where he jumps on any up and coming bandwagon. Yes Drake, it's very admirable to give away the budget of the music video to people, but you know what's admirable? Not filming it and making it the video. You know what's admirable? Not fucking the girl of the man who gave you your chance. You know what's admirable Drake? Not threatening to melt the chains that was designed by a man (P) without whose visionary work, you wouldn't even have a lane. Not disrespecting a legend by using his voice to sing your basic rhymes. The heart part 6 is one of his worst records. A cowardly exit. A lot of his arguments are lazy flips ("the Pulitzer Prize winner is spiralling", or compare the effect of the "A minor" joke on Not Like Us vs on this). They show an immature mindset ("why hasn't your girl denied my allegations?" Probably because she doesn't owe you one? "why is she not following you?" are they 13? "if I were into PDF files, I'd be arrested by now" ???? ), a lack of basic English comprehension as many have pointed, a lack of writing skill (you called yourself a clown). And mate, definitely a good look to offer a favour using wordplay that reminds someone of their trauma. Finally, he ends the track by claiming everything in your songs are FACTS, which is FACTUALLY untrue, especially so on this track. So why should we believe him?
