Nice job. I’ve just taken delivery of my Robert Sorby texturing tool and will make a start with it after I’ve finished decorating the kitchen. Thank you for sharing 🌞
10 dislikes?! Those trolls get everywhere. What is there to dislike in this vid? If I have one complaint it's that it makes me want to buy a texturing tool! Great job and very inspiring.
Hairy oak is unfortunately, very fractious. Good luck my friend. Do you have any mulga? If not I can send you some. It is good colour, very hard and very stable. Regards to all in your house.
Thanks Les, what is Mulga I am going to look it up but I have ideas for how to keep the hairy oak together and I will see if it works., thin CA glue bath slow cure or shellac and denatured bath 50/50 several times and let set then drill for tubes. I would love some Mulga but let me try to get a Hairy Oak Pen out!
Mulga is a western wood. Sometimes called gidgee. It is very small tree. It only grows to about four inches across. I may have sent you some in the past. Your ideas for the hairy sound very good.
Good one, if you are a really good listner your significant other might get one for you! I have no affiliation with or any free tools or any swag from Robert Sorby I bought this and got a good deal but it was still 170.00 on the interweb. Thanks for watching and I hope you are inspired to go and make!
I think they are very attractive medallions. I like colour with texturing but I agree with you that walnut is a beautiful wood and colour would only spoil it. thanks James
Love your videos Erik! I purchased the tool in January and I'm finally getting some time to start playing with it. Now all I have to do is figure out the angles of attack to get those designs you come up with. And yes, better to practice on something like that than ruining a bowl... Thanks for inspiring my curiosity.
Stunningly beautiful work, Erik! Unfortunately, you just added another tool to my wish list!!! SWMBO is going to be cross with you, my friend!! ;-) Absolutely love the walnut bowl! You do beautiful work, Erik, and I'm so glad you share it with the rest of us! Take care, .....Gord
Eric, What a brilliant piece, also lve the bowl, it has inspired me to try out my Sorby tool up to this time I was not sure how to go about it. Thanks and keep the videos coming we love your work Regards Steve
Man, that is fantastic, I've been fascinated with texturing tools, and since I can't afford any, finding out how they work in hope I could replicate a home made version of them someday. It's perfect to see some close up work with these, just makes me want to stop feeding the kids so I could get one ;) Yuval
Hey Erik, I am really enjoying your patterns on your turned wood projects!! May your shop be filled with chips and sawdust all year long, - Jim “Mr. Measure Twice” Marchetti
Erik I just watched a video by Nick Agar from Sorby's instead of sandpaper he just burnishes it with shavings I'm going to try both today in my workshop all the best for the coming year from Downunder

Thanks Les I am starting to make pens and I might just make a hairy oak pen and if I am successful I will send one to you for your generosity.

Mulga looks amazing , I have made some California Acacia burl pens that turned out beautifully.

Great video Erik. The tool seems to open up a whole new world for finishing.
Thanks Tom and indeed it does and it harkens back to a Swedish, Norwegian and Romanian lineage.
A great demo Erik, this texturing system is brilliant, I love it too.
Cheers
Mike

Terry thank you, you will have fun, just get a good piece of maple or walnut and do some end grain practice, like these medallions.

A bicycle rear deraiuler sprocket that is sharpened to points would work!
Erik Anderson I don't know what that is, but google will sort me out :)
Erik Anderson Found it, and can get hold of a few, I'll need to try this!!
