I know these are likely sincere, well meaning people but really confused. The CoC is just as much a denomination as Baptist or Methodist. These guys are just so into this rhetoric they can't see it. They make a denomination out of not being a denomination. A denomination doesn't just mean having a hierarchy or headquarters. To denominate means having characteristics that differentiates (or denominates) you from another. A 50 is one denomination of currency and 100 is another. The Cambellite doctrine certainly denominates these folks from others. I have a lot of CoC family and friends I believe are good, genuine Christians. I just have to ignore some of their annoying idiosyncrasies.

Okay, lets start your contentions. Lovingly of course, we are under the Lord's authority, which is shown in scripture in proper context. Why is the church of Christ, which is not always called the church of Christ (Of course there are other regional churches that follow the scripture but are not so named) a denomination? I mean, why are we like mormonism, catholic or church of God in Christ?

@@gman1550 No but I CAN give examples of the churches being instructed to sing.
15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. 1 Corinthians 14:15
19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Ephesians 5:19
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Colossians 3:16-17
[2:23] Christian church worship is spelled out succinctly in the New Testament: (1) congregational singing (1 Corinthians 14:15; Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16), prayer (Acts 12:12; 2 Thessalonians 3:1; James 5:16), giving (1 Corinthians 16:2; 2 Corinthians 8/9), Lord’s Supper (Matthew 26:26-29; Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:20ff.), and Scripture reading, preaching, and teaching (Acts 20:7; 1 Timothy 4:13). Actions that go beyond scriptural avenues through which to approach God in “true” (John 4:24) worship are “sourced in the will of the worshiper, not the will of the one worshiped.” They may appear to be reflections of the worshiper’s sincere humility-but such is “false humility” and they provide no assistance in subduing the flesh and living the Christian life. As Jesus declared: “in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men” (Matthew 15:9).
      Colossians 3
[3:16] This verse articulates the divine will with regard to corporate church worship. The church worship assembly is envisioned, as evidenced by (1) the use of three plural participles (“teaching,” “admonishing,” “singing”) which imply the whole church, (2) the reflexive pronoun used reciprocally (“one to another”), requiring a plurality of people gathered together, (3) the use of en humin (“in you”) implying the entire church (4:16-“among you”), (4) Paul’s contrast between their assembly and his absence from that assembly (2:5); and (5) Paul’s call for the letters to be read in the church assembly (4:16). This verse enjoins congregational singing.
[3:17] The principle of authority is taught throughout the Bible and is indispensable to arriving at the truth regarding God’s will for life. Colossians 2:23 - 3:17

@@arcticfox2639 when was he baptized? Baptism for remission of sins has been preached since the first century church was established (Acts 2, 8, 16, 18, 19, 22, etc). Rocky Springs church of Christ preached it… and it was planted prior to Alexander Campbell’s obedience to the gospel.
      Secondly, define baptismal regeneration.

    • @arcticfox2639
      @arcticfox2639 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@adamcordell7750 Alexander Campbell was baptized by a Baptist Pastor after he decided that "Baptismal Regeneration" was taught in scripture, meaning he came to believe that baptism is actually what saves an individual (which is a false doctrine).
The coc denomination is certainly not the NT Church. They don't resemble the Church in any way.
It is spiritually dead and operates out of willpower like Pelagius taught.
You actually believe that you do not need the assistance of the Holy Spirit to help you in your walk!
You teach that the Bible is the Holy Spirit, which is close to blasphemy.
If you are not indwelt by the Spirit, you are not even a Christian! (Rom. 5:38-39)
Furthermore, the members do not evangelize, which is the greatest "pattern" of the NT church!
      That rules you out completely!!
You can claim that all of those scriptures apply to the coc and it means nothing. It is your mistaken opinion.
Any church that claims to be the "only saved" is a cult.
Further, your members are brainwashed with "traditions taught by man".
You are a sect/cult depending on the level of control you exert upon members to adhere to your legalistic patterns and
      false doctrines.
You do not even know what the Gospel is! The 5 magic steps are NOT the gospel!
And you do not contact the blood in the waters of baptism unless the water turns into the blood of Christ.
      Baptism is a symbolic ritual/rite.
It is definitely a command, but it does not save anyone!
I thank God everyday that I escaped from this false "church"!
All scriptures belong to ALL Christians.
Your denomination is diminishing so fast, it will disappear in a few short years.

@Christian friend… before we go off telling me what I believe, you may want to do it with more civility.
“…You teach every false doctrine they espoused…”
“…Many members of the CoCs are contentious, rude, self-righteous and obnoxious…”
“…For the most part, you are a group of self-righteous legalists..”
You certainly carry a lot of tact with trying to win over a soul you think is lost. You must win many souls with this approach.
I personally like to use the authority of the God’s last will and testament… the Bible.

The church of Christ is very watered down carnal minded Christianity. They do not believe the Bible as a whole they virtually throw out the entire Old Testament and only believe parts of the New Testament. They do not believe in the ministry of Christ through the Holy Spirit at all. It’s a shame, but there are some great people in the church of Christ religious denomination. Extremely traditionally driven far more than scripture

So true! Many are cults. They teach a heretical gospel, they kicked out the Holy Spirit and they believe they saved themselves!
Of course, they deny this, however, I was in the DENOMINATION for decades and I know exactly what they believe!
