Nice content, good to know v1 vs v2.

i like this video's editing style. the reaction faces were funny! having you provide voice commentary on your own progress/missteps during the video would have been funny too.

dang not sure if you made it harder then it needed to be or the older design wasn't great. I had the new MD180 kickup and putting on the turbo fins was a simple bolt with an allen.

Mine was a v1 to v2 conversions so a bit more involved then just changing fins. I agree that it's very easy to not change versions and just change fins.

I have the exact same drive with a bent masr but I can't figure out how to get the fins off.
I noticed you were hammering for a long time on a pin but I can't find any pins and I wasn't sure what area you were hammering in. Unfortunately you did'nt do a close up on that part. Could you enlighten me a little bit on how to get those fins off? Liked and subbed.👃

Thanks for the sub. If you gently pull the 180 lever (fwd/rev) before the fins fully flip you will notice the holes where the pins are. You have to look carefully because the pins are solid and actually have a hole in the center of it making it more like a small tube of sorts. I used a small allen key but as the previous comment states this does have its risks and I can't say I recommend it. Maybe a call to Hobie to ask what tool is best fit for this portion may be the best advice I can give, but I personally was willing to take the risk with the allen key. Probably more due to me wanting to get it done rather than common sense. Haha.

Also there is a cord that goes past or over this hole so you need to pull it away a bit so you don't accidently cut it.

Very nice Video! I was about to do the same but had a local shop suggest going to kick up fins instead. Not sure if they were available when you made this video. Do you have any idea if the kick ups would work with this version of the 180 drive? yes the booms or mounts would be replaced and from looking at the parts it looks doable. Any info you have would be great thanks.

I believe the kick up fins are different then the one I have. Different components cause it came out like 2 or 3 years later. If you mean upgrading your kickup fins to the turbo fins you can. I would suggest going to a local hobie retailer to ask for specifics.

painful watching you not use the proper tools....

Agreed. But hey this is my way of learning. There aren't any instructions telling you the tools you need so I gave it a whirl with what I had.
