I remember watching a BBC programme when a boy called 'Memories of a Musical Dog' about Gramophone history and seeing these 'turntable toys'! Great to see one here.
Excellent record. The Columbia sound engineer was excellent also.Trumpet by Frank Wilson,a much better hot soloist than the soon to join Jack Jackson in his place.Playing hot they outdid Ambrose or Hylton

This gets BETTER AND BETTER, the perfect 1931 sound through and through.
Keeps on getting BETTER AND BETTER!!.
Thanks again.
1931 Jack Paynes with Val Rosing vocals are very good. I have a very good condition copy of 'You're The One I Care For', but this is nice and HOT!!.
Thank you - I am long overdue a look at your superlative channel.
Thahnks
Takes some beating.
Originally the dancing couple would usually have been bought via adverts in the press. They still work well (except on "The turning of tide" ).
A very rare side indeed. I put an asterisk next to the record in the Dance Band Book, in case I ever found a copy! Never did.
Fun dancers - did they come with the recording originally. Great recording of one of the best.

Is this a Viva~tonal phonograph?
I no longer have the gramophone but from memory I think it was pre Viva-tonal.
