    vr is everything, the cons is you can get headaches

    • @Tymanderr
      @Tymanderr  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It’s funny you say that, and thank you for mentioning it. I never correlated them, but I was getting a lot of headaches. Fun fact, and kind of a bummer. I quit smoking pot about the same week I start making content again. I was really unhappy with my quality control and lack of planning on my vids. So from then on I’ve mainly been on a single screen and clean. The headaches have gone away and it probably was the vr. I was thinking the smoking! Either way, now that I have some seat time and “experience” being on a single has been super enjoyable! Vr kinda pushes you away cause it is a huge commitment to be literally in another world. It’s easier for me to be creative and making stuff I like, when im in the real world 😂 thanks so much for saying that, that was like an epiphany for me!

    • @wandrinsheep
      @wandrinsheep 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Tymanderrif you try vr again make sure you check your alignment (ipd) as well as the placement. And most importantly make sure you have a good connection wired or wireless. Whenever I get headaches I know exactly why it is. My link cable has gone bad; whenever my link cable is running in usb 2 mode instead of usb 3 I get headaches, I can’t see any difference while playing but my brain recognizes an issue.

    • @Tymanderr
      @Tymanderr  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@wandrinsheep I was actually using a thunderbolt port, and maxed frames on open composite. It ran amazing like couldn’t tell the difference from irl once you’re locked in. I think I was just playing extremely long stints sometimes 9pm-4am in one car in touge life 1 😂 I did say I had a weird obsession 😂 I switched to a single and still do pretty long stints and the headaches have gone away. I think learning in VR definitely helped me to be good on a single too, I still jump in vr though occasionally! With content creation it’s a little tough, just not convenient for recording and what not

    Left foot braking is revolutionary.
    When I decided to learn how I put a barrier between the throttle and brake pedals, so I had to left foot brake.
    It's natural muscle memory now.

    • @Tymanderr
      @Tymanderr  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If I’m honest, I had no idea what I was doing wrong, that one day I watched someone else on the sim it all clicked. Thinking back though he was very sporadic, with a lot of practice it’s kinda just smooth and muscle memory as you said! My driving has never been better after that lol

    You mention a lot of truly great games, but on game in particular is being slept on here, and almost everywhere else for that matter.
    BeamNG, I played lots of well known games, but nothing comes close to the feel of this game for me, off road tires deform under weight, full soft body physics and crash damage.
    Trying to contain the power of a rally car on this game, is something else entirely, and the braking is super realistic.
    Imagine initiating a drift at 90mph, scraping the back end along the wall and watching your bumper get ripped off, and it being there the next lap round...
    I highly recommend the game to any sim race/drifter. It's absolutely awesome!

    • @Tymanderr
      @Tymanderr  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have actually played a lot of the scenarios, I should have mentioned it! The mini cooper off-road one though kept getting bugged and the Ai couldn’t get through. Yes though the game is great, very large learning curve I feel with the UI. At least for my dumb ass 😂

    Not really the same thing but i used to drift to such an extent on project torque back in the day, with a keyboard, its not a wheel, but the process is relateable, and i was just having fun at the end of the day, I had to grind my credits all the time as a F2P player, earn what i wanted, and got it down to an arcade style art as if it were ridge racer, 10 minutes, continuous drift, no hitting or stopping as you loose your points, if someone didnt keep the combo you likely won the event, it was based on speed through corners, overall car feel was pretty damn good too.
    I started from the FWD cars, waddling my way around the track, just to get the credits, watching others around me lap me and get the crazy combos, I got hold of the premium cars, nissans mazdas, If i had a plan i would drift it, i think a lambo miura was there? and earning my rep into one of the best drifting groups on that game in the drift spec "FD Sniper" RX7 I was someone that people knew had the skill to compete with, be it for others enjoyment to watch, or to actually challenge other clans trying to take our turf. (via the best score system)
    Keeping the crew spot to number 1 (we had like 20 members at max too) earning world records on the drift leaderboards, even battling against ourselves.
    Man, just all the ideas, the thinking, the process is identical to this video, Not the same, just feels similar in some aspects to my old journeys.

    • @Tymanderr
      @Tymanderr  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Very similar though! I was actually in massive leaderboard battles on fm3 and fm4. I kinda just killed the fh5 leaderboards on a controller like you saw in the vid just to see if I could still compete being 30 and out of the loop. It feels good to be good at something for sure! Even since making this vid I’ve been really practicing just to stay good at it, it is beyond satisfying to get a perfect drift haha. Hopefully I can live up to the hype this vid caused and continue making decent videos. It’s hard to make everything into a story lol

    1:09 - I can understand that! Although I’ve only watched everything 2 times all the way through, some episodes are worth rewatching for the intel you need to do those things. In the first, second, and fourth, and final stages a lot of good content is brought up. It starts out basic, such as Kesuke’s explanation of drifting in the rain, where you can’t always keep the pedal down to keep the car stable, while takumi uses screaming itsuki to weigh down the car in the rear to do his normal drift, in the same way the tofu does. (Or maybe something else, where does Bunta get all that money). Then there’s hint at in a 4wd, you must use the steering wheel to turn, not the accelerator in a drift. In fourth stage, the information tidbits skyrocket, we get inner wheel lift, Keisuke’s different levels of precise acceleration, and a couple more examples which I’m too lazy to list. 5th stage is tire management so I’m skipping that, and third stage is too short to give any new useful information, so I’m skipping to final stage. In final stage, we learn that knowing cornering speed and not drifting is superior to braking (slowing down), and initiating a drift at slip angle, vs not braking and taking the corner at the max speed to go faster.
    If your not satisfied with this, look up “Drift Bible” on TH-cam and you will find it,
    where Keiichi Tsuchiia teaches you all three different types of drifts and how to start and maintain them, with the usual foot cameras, but in a stopped car where the viewer can see all of what he is doing.

Or even Nurburgring but I would say anything on that track is tough, definitely a higher level course and hard to learn. I had a very good understanding of a lot of it just from being into racing forever. I would say my biggest improvement moments for drifting was utilizing the left foot brake. Also racing on so many different games really helps you start to get some consistency. I also probably put about as much time in, in 3-4 months as most do in a very long time. I was playing like 6 hours a night and getting off absolutely sweating at 3am lol. Touge life 1 is where those nights were mostly spent. Once I could do it consistently I started getting faster, asking people in the lobby to let me follow. Or for tune setups. You’d be amazed how much people want to share in chat, about why they tuned something a certain way or whatever. It was a collective effort and I can’t thank people enough!

      Heel toe was also a big moment for me, I never knew how to do it before, I just kinda started trying to do it at all times and the car stability is just through the roof. I would say until those two techniques were mastered it was a bit of a mess. It’s funny though since I’ve started drifting and playing Motorsport more I’ve kinda fallen off of touge. It was really a great learning experience

    i have a old thrustmaster TMX and it doesnt feel normal drifting with it. idk if its me, my settings, my wheel, or my seating angle. its kinda infuriating but i go back and try here and there.

    • @Tymanderr
      @Tymanderr  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So on a belt and gear driven wheel like that, you will need to assist it in counter steer. It’s not intuitive because it’s not natural but the whee can’t keep up with the demands of drifting. It can work but you need to do things you wouldn’t normally do in a real car.

      @@Tymanderr ahhh okay understandable. I wanted to upgrade to a Logitech or a fanatec DD wheel setup but the cost and performance between the too has me on the fence

    • @Tymanderr
      @Tymanderr  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would highly recommend a direct drive, the csl dd is more than enough as far as accuracy goes. I do recommend pedals before a wheel, the TMX is not that bad. If you had a low end Logitech I might agree with the upgrade. I have read good things about the Logitech dd wheel but I believe it is hard to get mounted.
