Quick question for you. In the video you asked suelio if you could set up the periferals to feel the braking limit. I found that pretty interesting, as in AC with my t150 wheel I can feel when the abs is active. It's like a little rumbling and instability in the wheel. Does Iracing not do that for your wheel?
@@ieurobeatkids9378 iRacing only sends to your wheel what a real wheel would feel, no extra effects to simulate what the cage of the car would give you.
Just because he's a pro doesn't mean he doesn't need coaching. If anything professionals probably need and get a lot more coaching than casual racers because their skills are past the point of honing and self-improvement, when you're already so skilled finding more time is a multi-person effort that requires analysis and experimentation.
Longtime simracer with some real racing experience here. Your real life career would be better served by you racing (not just driving) in sims like rFactor 2 or Assetto Corsa, in addition to iRacing. In those sims you can learn to be comfortable with oversteer that can be corrected primarily with steering and is still very quick on lap time. iRacing has trained you to try and avoid letting enough oversteer develop that a steering correction is required, because it's slower and can easily lead to a loss of control in that sim. As you see in Alberto's real onboard, he is able to countersteer even on corner entry for a considerable length of time and yet the rears are not so overheated that the rest of the corner is a battle against oversteer. iRacing's tire heat properties are reflective of what happens in reality, but exaggerated to such a degree that it has likely given you a skewed perspective of what's possible irl.
I disagree. You’re talking about driving on and over the limit, and that should always be learned PER SESSION. You should not be learning the limit in the sim and replicating it on track - that’s how people get hurt. 99% of the limit (no oversteer) is very very fast. 101% of the limit (moderate oversteer) is equally as fast. 103% (wheel spin, locking up brakes, etc) is very slow. I find that ACC, GT7, raceRoom, etc produced a lot of habits that get people into the 110% range and I have to teach them how to dial it back. THIS is why racing drivers don’t like them - they don’t want to have to turn off bad habits.
@@TheOfficialOriginalChad that makes sense, but if someone's specific bad habit is driving too far under the limit, then some practice in sims that reward slightly-over-limit driving more could help train them out of that habit. Of course it's still not a good idea to just immediately then go balls out irl, but I think Suellio is smart enough not to do that!
@@TheOfficialOriginalChad I don’t understand how you interpreted what I was saying to be “learn the limit for specific session irl and then go out and replicate your driving.” I was generalizing. But fair enough, if you’re a driving coach for real life racing and seeing this be a problem for newcomers. In hindsight the much better suggestion would be to get some quality time in a proper kart - not a tame electric indoor kart but a proper one. Even if he’s already done that, filling in with karting sessions between car events could be really helpful. Anyway, hopefully he has a driving coach irl and isn't taking all his guidance from YT comments. 😀
It's so great to see both Suellio and Alberto working out things and also mindblowing to see how effective and how quickly the changes can be applied at their level.
looks like christmas came early this year, Suelio and Naska in 1 video talking about car behavior... amazing!! wish i could like the video more than just once haha
This knowledge about short term tire temp and grip is mind bending. What an eye opener. Immediately noticed it and can see how mastering it is the key to getting the car to rotate like I see the fast guys do in replays. Subbed!
The most interesting part of the video was the bit at the end about you being afraid to crash because of getting hurt. Definitely a hurdle to overcome.
I knew your chanel like in the back of my head but never payed too much attention. Watched a couple of your coaching and explanation videos dealing with some advanced sim racing challenges like this one, managing your tire temps short, mid and long term. Imo Suellio is fabuluous in explaining that stuff very, very good. Thx a lot. I really did take a lot of stuff i learned in your vids with me on track and everything had positive and measurable effects on my driving. And i got quite some years on my back. Paying attention to tempretures more like shown in this vid and also the advice to very deliberately relax your hands, arms and shoulder to be more sensitive for suttle FFB effects did gain me aroung 0.500 to 0.700 per lap, and i wasnt that slow before. Thx for your great content and all the best for you on track!
That's why you need this Rumble thingy on your pedals. Or a haptic feedback in your seat. When you setup this right it actually gives you a lot of information. It's much more intuitive. I have new pedals but will install the simagic haptic on my pedals.
that's the way (unless you have bass shaker which gives you abs information). I just installed simagic haptic system on my VRS pedals using a 3d printed adapter. Feeling the ABS on the brake pedal is simply great and useful
I've needed this coaching myself for so long! Being this analytical (and especially meticulous) to explain how "minutia" costs precious time with amazing presentation is nuts! Very happy for your success!
I learned to snowboard on dry slope. When I hit real snow it was like "THIS IS EASY!" and I even ended up teaching it for a few seasons! So it's nice to hear that if you get good at SIM racing, real driving becomes easier. I guess it's the lack of real world tactile feedback (even from the brake pedal), such as G forces, bumps and jerks in the seat, peripheral vision etc. etc. etc.
I'm a WRC game player and working on WRC2 class. I bought course last month. I stopped inproving session time. After these online courses, I found seconds in sessions. I still can find seconds in my bad habits. These courses do work, especially you record and analyze your practice sessions. Work on one bad habit or concept at a time. You will find your seconds in sessions.
Just finished module two (just a watch through no actual practice). Currently learning Long Beach for my F4 league race this weekend and I already got -0.653 on my lap time. You explain stuff so well, I can't wait to see how I improve after watching it all a few times and practicing it.
This by far the best content I've seen on tire temp balance and its effects. 👏 Not many people have a proper understanding of this, and even less teach it. Also, your comments on relaxing and just flowing through mistakes to build consistent relaxation is applicable in all areas of learning and devellopment. I struggle with this alot in language and instrument learning. I always let small mistakes frustrate me and break my flow.
awesome video. this is my new go to place to learn about racing. you are really good at breaking stuff down and as someone who only has a really basic understanding right now its so easy to follow along. keep it up brother!
Guys, one things i want to always remind, don't fantasm to much on being really good in sim racing mean you'll be really good in real life. If you think that, you are going to kill urself when u will push as much as in iRacing. There is so much factor. The professionnal driver telling you that have equipements for sim racing that most of you cant afford. What he is saying will work if you have identical quality of material like the car you are driving in iRacing as the one in real life. 99% of sim racer dont have a full setup really close to 1:1. It's always important to remind that, i hear to much of if you are so good in sims you are same good as in real life. Players fantasm about that but the truth is mostly not.
Iracing might be a bit critical, but that's muuuuch closer to real life than letting you do any stupid thing and getting unrealistically away with it like every other sim does. The only one with real life transfer is the Iracing model, and it is also the closest in pure physics. Plus not every tyre model is the same irl too. Pirellis and Michelins are completely dfferent irl on GT3s, and both are realistic.
There is also a trick to help you config your break pedal for iRacing if you use load cell. Setup OBS or something to record your screen or share your screen with a friend. Can you read my mind or what LOL After having seen your video about trail braking, which was exactly what I was doing wrong and how to make it better (using the Mazda MX5). I used that knowledge and it did improve my cornering speeds, but ran into what you showed in this video. Corner entry understeer at some corners, I'm braking too much obviously and having wrong corner entries. Tried to correct that, but then ran into mid-corner 4 wheels drift in some corners, I did not understand why and could not figure this out on my own. And then you post this video, Suellio you are a mind reader extraordinaire LOL You have given me some more homework, thanks a lot :) LOL Hmm, what is next??? What will I run into next, you probably already know what and why and got a fix to it LOL And now I am off to do my homework, thanks Coach LOL
Amazing video. As our all of your videos. I always learn something new. Just wanted to chime in and let you know. I don’t think you’re crazy for not pushing the envelope more in a real car. In real life, you don’t get to press reset like you can in a simulator. Top Gear did a great episode where they laped a Acura NSX at Laguna Seca in a racing simulator which I think was Gran Turismo 12 years ago versus an actual Acura NSX on that same track. They found back then that will always be faster because you don’t have to worry about death or serious bottle injury. Have fun. Be safe be comfortable. The world is a better place with you in it.
I think he should've kept the brakes at 10% - 15% pressure when trailbraking in the second sector so he can rotate the car more which lowers the understeer Edit: I would've never guessed that it was the tire temperature affecting the understeer and the braking on entry that was causing the problem, it really shows why tire temperature is so important. Thank you suelio
38:42 this is the difference between an ex-motorcycle racer and many car racers I guess 😅. Don't get me wrong it's completely fine to be scared and trying to get home unharmed but I guess if I would go car racing and damages are included I would also just go nuts. But then again I'm very cautious pushing my Tuono V4 on the track because even a simple low side can get veeeery expensive
I'm not a racer at all. But I really enjoyed this video. I just started flying in DCS and can easily see myself driving as well. I'll definitely watch your videos preparing for it!
He literally reminds me of a therapist. They seem to be in complete control of the situation, and have you just run through scenarios where they know what the outcome is going to be, but you have no clue. I just love this deep level of understanding
I just got back in to iracing and in the last few weeks of the season and got destroyed by other drivers and lost my B licenses lol so I stopped qualifying seemed to always start in 8th can't put down a good lap then in races magically find peace and now I'm in C with fast drivers and can't gain I rating its madness 🙃
Honestly, this is interesting to watch for me because I do autox, and I have to force my car to rotate on the corners, so this driving style would feel more natural to me since I’ve only done a couple of track days and some Porsche instructors told me not to drive like that but it felt more natural for me to do it. Told me to brake then turn in and mid corner power out.
Great video! The best stuff, I'll try your course for sure, I'll get back into simracing this winter to practice a bit for next season. Regarding the bit about fear/self preservation at the end, I agree with Alberto, after a few crashes/hits you loose the fear of injuring yourself. The only thing left then is the cost, how much is going to crash cost me, and sometimes, you can live with it and send it from lap 1, sometimes you need to work up to it or even leave a small margin (specially when its not your car, I always do on other people's car). Im really hoping I can catch you at the track and talk a bit, maybe even race each other ;)
Great video mate, more helpful insight. I found this out by realising I wasn't taking enough pace through the apex. So I backed off the brakes, and found more grip mid-corner and more lap time. It's easy to over drive a car, especially after a few laps when you feel comfortable in it.
For feeling the ABS and such I believe the Simagic haptic pedal reactor is a great solution since it has the power that it needs to create a real feeling.
Awesome! Just subbed and Alberto Naska!! My Fav Euro Nascar/Legends/Moto legend. I havent seen him run that Kit car sports car that has the interchangeable body's in awhile. Did that fall thru or is that why the gt3 focus?
This is a great video, amazing content for everyone to watch! It would be great for people who prefer ACC if you are going to have a similar video for ACC as well.
Great video! I’m currently reading your book! After this video I wonder does it make sense to run a season in the Porsche cup car since it doesn’t have ABS and Learn how to properly brake there and that will translate as a useful skill into all GT cars down the road?
Vc ja deu aula pra brasileiros? Seria interessante postar videos dando aula a pessoas de nacionalidades diferentes, podia usar legendas em inglês, so uma ideia 😅
Could you make a youtube short about tyre temperature in long term effects? I am quick in the beginning of the race, even setting the fastest lap of the race but near the end my tyres are hot and the car slides more and I have to slow down but the time never comes back.
I am like Alberto, I squeeze far to hard on the wheel. I don't do it in a real car though, go figure. I need to learn to relax when "racing". Thank you both.
Right when you asked what he could have done better in the first sector, I feel like that first corner he could have entered slightly earlier and had more gradual steering
Suellio. Relaxed is great. You also need to be firm and stable. I assume you are because you are fast, but try skydiving. Indoor skydiving more specifically and you will unlock another level.
With the current tire model with iracing the answer is always the same: you think the limit for overdriving is 100% but it's actually 80%, if you drive 81% you are going slower.
You should help Ian Crimsix on the faze team, i hope you are able to reach out to him, In other matters really love your content!!! Keep up the great work. 💪🏼

It's easy to over drive a car, especially after a few laps when you feel comfortable in it.
Suellio how did you become such a great teacher?
Absolutely awesome video!
.hold brakes longer until mrp, set corner entries up better an use more of track and use less steering to induce oversteer
NASKA SPOTTED ‼️
Lessons ands musics are amazing thank u so much
For feeling the ABS and such I believe the Simagic haptic pedal reactor is a great solution since it has the power that it needs to create a real feeling.
Most of the issues comes from the iRacing tyre model, and driving at the edge/going over it and not knowing how to compensate for the inaccuracy
this was like a fantasy world giving tips to the real world, pretty interesting video, congratz
We Love you Swelly! 💙
Awesome! Just subbed and Alberto Naska!! My Fav Euro Nascar/Legends/Moto legend. I havent seen him run that Kit car sports car that has the interchangeable body's in awhile. Did that fall thru or is that why the gt3 focus?
30:45 that's a race bike rider thing! Hooollllddd on! ❤😂
Very cool thank you for sharing.
Awsome!!!! Quick question, does this apply to the ACC tires/abs and all?
Vc ja deu aula pra brasileiros? Seria interessante postar videos dando aula a pessoas de nacionalidades diferentes, podia usar legendas em inglês, so uma ideia 😅
great vid and something for me to try out. thnx
at 16:31 i suggest trying an input graph overlay
Mi son ritrovato questo video nella home dei video raccomandati button
vvvvvvvv
Lol. When he said he goes flat out first lap if they are to cover 100% damages, I was like.. me too me too!! I mean if anyone would let me....
Nice video!
Bro, for real. you're a wizard.
Could you make a youtube short about tyre temperature in long term effects? I am quick in the beginning of the race, even setting the fastest lap of the race but near the end my tyres are hot and the car slides more and I have to slow down but the time never comes back.
Feels like cheating to have this information for free!
Your tips have added the most to my driving in iRacing, so thankyou Suellio.
Ciao naska, ormai sei ovunque ❤❤
24:56 You mentioned the 2nd lap will be your fastest. I have noticed this also, what is the exact reason for it?
I am like Alberto, I squeeze far to hard on the wheel. I don't do it in a real car though, go figure.
I need to learn to relax when "racing".
Thank you both.
Yoooooo GRANDE ALBE!! 54
You should help Ian Crimsix on the faze team, i hope you are able to reach out to him,
In other matters really love your content!!!
Keep up the great work. 💪🏼
