    For all of you saying that this resume is too flashy, he is a graphic designer which means he wont be using this for a normal job. As a graphic designer you must have a resume which stands out and is not boring.

    There's a lot of interesting comments on this video for sure! I think the thing to keep in mind is your audience of the application. While ATS systems are good to keep in mind and a reality, finding a mixture of both good presentation and ATS friendly is the best solution. If ATS says it's good but I click into the resume and see something dull, there's no way I'll even remember the candidate. I think this is a good foundation that should be expanded upon if you're considering remaking your resume. There are a lot of good ATS checkers online so I think finding the balance between impact and usability will truly make a world of difference. this is a great foundation to see all the different tools and things that you can do, I would reach out to a professional in your field and see which of these is good and also use ATS to see if your message gets across the tech analysis.

      @@DesignSense Hey! Just wanted you to know that your work is really awesome. My comment was more formatted for the people just complaining or not really taking the time to understand what you were doing. as someone who has taken three design-based classes, I couldn't even come close to the total execution of what you did! My notes were more for people who were looking at utilizing or trying to replicate a lot of the skills you used for their own purpose. I also found it that positive feedback seems to be somewhat rare on the internet versus direct criticism or negative complaints. So I just thought I'd throw my two cents in! Great work all around!!

  • @injbl3807

    It’s pretty and all but ATS (applicant Tracking System) won’t be able to read this properly and will likely overlook your resume. Keep it simple. One column and no graphics.

    • @gitaprasulistiyono8818
      @gitaprasulistiyono8818 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      yep, be careful. Most fortune 500 companies already use ATS to screen their candidate. If ATS can't scan your CV, your CV won't be read by any human no matter how good and impressive you are.

    • @Ghettofinger
      @Ghettofinger 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very true, but usually you would like to walk into interviews or the equivalent preliminary system after the initial applicant screening with a resume in hand, this would be a great thing to bring. Though, I am a little iffy about the lack of objectivity in the graphics. It gives you less control over the other party's interpretation.

    • @Shawnkelly7
      @Shawnkelly7 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, cool idea but if you don't want to get hired follow this tutorial.

    • @amritalyf
      @amritalyf 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What rubbish... Why would ATS not scan it. ATS uses word api to scan a document for pure text. It doesn't matter how it appears to the human eye. It will extract pure text and will parse the right technologies. Any graphical info would be lost. But in this resume other than the technology percentage, nothing is graphical. What the background is doesn't matter either.
      Such parsing codes are very straight forward for someone who knows programming. Adding Corner cases adds to extra lengthy code but this is not even a corner case.

      You need to increase the size of the gradient rectangle, don't just fix the rectangle to the artboard. Increase the size of the rectangle on every corner. Then it will not show the white border outside. Thanks

    • @DesignSense

      A short bio. Your name, where do you live, your schooling and a glimpse of your personality. It should reveal that why they should hire you. I will suggest you look at some short bio examples online. Take some ideas from them.

    Love the tutorial. Can you share with me how you were able to find the background behind the resume. It was in your thumbnail. It has the glasses, pen, etc. How were you able to do that? Did you use a photoshop program to put the resume over the background. Are there backgrounds for resume templates? Again, love this tutorial.

    • @DesignSense
      @DesignSense  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes it is the mockup, you can find easily that mockup on freepik.com.
      The link is below:

      In second page you don't need to add your image and bio. Just give a border like the first one and add your remaining details.

    This is important for graphic designers, but those who are working in science or engineering should not follow the same design since the recruiter cares about the CV content but nothing else.

    I did this and showed it to my friend whos a recruiter and former HR rep and she said it was nice BUT...she said lose the headshot unless you're going for a job on television, or something were you're face to face with the public everyday. You don't want HR to discriminate against you because of your face (you aren't supposed to discriminate but they do) also the design can me overkill if you aren't going for a career in design.

    • @DesignSense

      I partially agree with her. You can always modify your C. V according to needs and industry trends. Always study first about the industry and companies you applying to.
