Windows and mirrors are tough ones for suction cups. Not only does the glass have to be clean, but so does the suction cup. Also, any glass that is subject to atmospheric conditions (heat & cold), suction may be an issue. Plus, the plastic-whatever it is of the suction cup has to be good quality, which you indicated you have tried several different ones. When did PLN have a tower? I've been working at zmp in area 1 (134.6 and many other freqs) for around 7 years now. It must have been long before I started
OK, first off Minneapolis Center is AWESOME & tuning 134.6 is when I know I'm home. I'm super grateful for you all. I'll check in on PLN. It's definitely been towered within the lastv15 years...but at my age, I mess time up.

I've read through a couple comments section and can't find if you answer this; what would happen if you flare the HondaJet when landing? What is it about the plane that makes it so that you should land it how you do? Thanks!
Great question. It's more about how the plane (and other high performance jets) is designed. Flaring tends to use-up runway. The HondaJet has a very high performance wing which continues to fly after you touch down. So for landing performance, it's about getting the jet firmly on the runway and then dissapating energy as effeciently as possible. When I land at longer runways (8000'or longer) I will is just a it of flare to s,tooth out the touchdown.

Always amazing to see your videos... 2 Questions (you might have already answered so my apologies if so). What does V1 and Rotate equate to? When you are flying by yourself (with no camera or passengers) do you announce it out loud still? (and if so, why?)
No worries, I get a lot of questions but you're the 1st to ask those. Here goes. V1 - Take Off Decision Speed. The maximum speed at which the pilot must the first action to discontinue the take off. VR - Rotation Speed. So even when I'm alone in the cockpit with no cameras (like was earlier today), I still do it exactly the same way...and out loud. I do that to build consistency. I'll know immediately if something is out of the norm. Thanks for watching and for asking interesting questions. Keep them coming.

@@bluemaxsix Even a 2600 needs a fuel layover in Iceland to get to Edinburgh. Lots of history there. 1/2 pint of Caffrey’s in the afternoon at the pub watching golf balls land on the 18th at St. Andrews is fun as well
i guess the fuel flow is reverse from a fuselage engine mounted jets vs a honda jet,,ie bladder ,, belly,, wings,,so would think having the wings full all the time makes a more constant and smoother ride ? not sure if other jets could tell when the wings are empty just by the feel or not
I thought that too when I 1st started flying the HJ. I'm so used to all fuel flowing from the wings to a center tank. It was explained to me that this was a more efficient way to provide fuel to each engine. The engineering of this jet continues to fascinate me.
@@bluemaxsix well its easy to understand and remember the path of the fuel flow when all ppl have to do is remember where the engines are mounted ,, on top of the wing,, so fuel empties from the farthest point first ,, ie bladder :))
In school they teach that FL360 is the sweat spot flying just at the top of the troposphere. Flying in the stratosphere has higher temps and lower density altitude. Flying above FL410 have your found a significant degradation of performance in the stratosphere? Is your aircraft certified to fly in the RVSM airspace? I look forward to seeing more content. Semper Fi.
Hey Mark, Great insight. We never had to worry about that in helicopters! I can see my best TAS/Mach at FL360 and for me, the fuel savings up at FLs410-430 is worth it. I don't have any issues with the temps or performance. ISA is typically the biggest factor related to performance for me.
Hi Kevin, I have an APMG, not an Elite. The 5 variants are the Legacy, APMG, Elite, Elite S, and Elite II. The Elite II is the newest and the only one with both Auto-Throttle and Spoliers. There's no plan to make that a retro-fit to the earlier models. Who knows thought.
@@bluemaxsix Your family gets any bigger, adopt a few dogs, perhaps, some grandchildren, and you'll be flying a Gulfstream IV before you know it. I went through my materials and the Elite II offers Auto Land. That and the other equipment strengthens my resolve to invest in an Elite II or better when the time comes. It's incredible how much Honda can fit into such an efficient platform. They continue to distance themselves from the competition. Take care and stay safe.

Hi there Blu Max Six just have a weight and balance question I hope you can answer as I can't find an answer anywhere, doing my manual weight and balance calculations for the Honda Jet standard as per the example in the AFM, I have worked out how to calculate % Mac etc but there is one entry that I can't understand where the figures are coming from. It's the sample weight and balance line item 19 Minus Taxi / Run up fuel its 100 Pounds of fuel to minus off the ramp weight to give the take-off weight but I'm just not sure where they are getting the arm and moment for the 100 pounds of fuel that's being removed to get to take-off weight, they have -100 pounds fuel with an arm of 288.59 and moment of 288.6. Its driving me nuts trying to understand where these moment and arm figures were derived and how, because I can't see any where how this was derived from the Fuel graphs, thanks for any assistance you may be able to offer.
Sorry it took me a few days on this, I got to fly this week. Wow, good one. To be honest, I do all of my W&B in Foreflight. I also get my %MAC from Foreflight. The later versions of the HJ have Graphical Weight & Balance built into the G3000 so they're able to save a step or 2 in the preflight/programming process. Also, I use 80lbs of fuel for startup/taxi as does everyone else I know so I wonder why that's at 100lbs? OK so on to your question. I reached out to the owner of Turbine Aircraft Logistics (FlyHJ.aero)to get the best possible answer. I'll share what I hear back.
So here's the better and more complete answer from Carson at Turbine Aircraft Logistics I understand the confusion surrounding the weight and balance calculations for the HondaJet, especially when it comes to the specific arm and moment values for taxi/run-up fuel. The intricacies arise due to the aircraft's unique fuel tank distribution and the resulting changes in center of gravity (CG) as fuel is burned. In many aircraft, the change in moment as fuel is consumed can vary significantly based on the initial fuel load. This is particularly true for the HondaJet because of the different locations of its fuel tanks. The fuselage tank, for instance, has a much larger arm than the carry-through tank. Therefore, burning 100 lbs of taxi fuel will have a different impact on the overall moment and CG, depending on whether that fuel comes from the fuselage, carry-through tank, or wing tanks. In their effort to simplify calculations for pilots, Honda provides an average change in the moment for various fuel loadings in a single table. This means that instead of calculating the change in CG for every possible starting fuel weight and burn-off amount, you can refer to this table for an average value. The specific figures you mentioned, an arm of 288.59 and a moment of 288.6 for the 100 pounds of taxi/run-up fuel, are likely derived from this averaged data. They may not directly correspond to the exact values from the fuel graphs but are representative values meant to simplify calculations. As a quick reminder, the arm is calculated using the formula: Arm = Moment/Weight
@@bluemaxsix thanks very much for taking the time to answer that it's very helpful indeed,I wouldn't have bothered you but it's very hard to find an answer unless your affiliated with the correct companies and I could not locate that fuel graph, much appreciated this was bothering me lol
@@bluemaxsix I must admit I'm mentally challenged when it comes to anything mathematical but I enjoy working it out and it's rewarding to be able to manually calculate the weight and balance even if it's just sim based and your help provided the last piece of the puzzle, that type of answer you would never find out unless you connect with a legend that flies the Honda jet, that sir is you. Thank you for taking the time to answer this.

I like the taxi time!
Yay! Finally someone! I thought as a joke I'd do a video that was nothing but taxiing.
@@bluemaxsix Definitely!!! You should do that. I'm trying to learn all of the codes or call names between you and the tower to see what makes sense. Most o that takes place during taxiing!!
Good stuff as always, Tim. Blue skies and...sail winds? Hope you're having a good summer.
Thank you, Sir. How's that new baby?
@@bluemaxsix He's doing great, thanks for asking. Planning to give him his first plane ride here in a few weeks. 🙂
That's awesome. See if he sleeps the entire time or if he's somehow interested.
Thanks for the upload brother 🎉👍🏼
Thanks for watching. Always grateful for those of you who keep showing back up.
Great video as usual. Really appreciated the call outs you did on the approach helps people like me who fly the HJ in Microsoft Flight Simulator. Exemplary camera work from your wife as usual. Would love to see your HJ fly into my local airport Cambridge UK, I see quite a few Longitudes but have'nt seen a HJ yet there yet. Thanks again for all your videos
We really appreciate you sat hung and commenting. I just read this to my wife. Thank you
Looks like a great platform for the type of flying it appears you do
I agree. Matching the mission with the Airframe is everything. Grateful to HondaJet for building such a fantastic platform.
Thanks for sharing from Australia. congratulations with 5 princesses - you may nee dot upgrade to the HJ 2600 once day so save your pennies :)
They're all far from princesses, but are so much for n to have around
Love your videos and love your HondaJet. Just wondering how you manage your supplemental oxygen at the flight levels? Keep the videos coming!
Thanks for watching the channel, we really appreciate the support. As far as oxygen goes, I follow the FAR regulations specifically depending on whether I'm single pilot of dual (91.211).. I just edit the video so not filming content with me talking through the mask.
Wanna see as much if the process as you can share. Thanks.
Thanks. I did a few videos of the full cockpit thing - please go look and let me know what you think. I love getting the feedback. It also really helps me figure out how I want to put the content together when I'm editing
I just found your videos and I am enjoying them. You are very personable and communicate pertinent and educational information.
Would it be possible to put flight information, such as altitude and speed on the videos?
Thanks for following along and got taking the time to comment. I'll look into a way to display that. I still have a lot to learn about how to capture & edit good video.
It's definitely been towered within the lastv15 years...but at my age, I mess time up.
nice as always :)))
Always appreciate you showing back up. Thanks for the comments.
very good. Did the dogs have to go through some preparation to fly?
Hmmm. Well we run them hard and let them go to the bathroom but nothing ng more. Why, have some ideas? Little white dog does fine and loves it. My big lab is rock solid in a Duck Blind but squirrelly when it comes to traveling in any vehicle.
Agree - SERE no fun but necessary ONCE

Can't put that on our cockpit glass.

Honda Jet, Wife, 5 daughters and some lovely pets, wonderful.
I'm 54 ex PPL pilot will you adopt me into your family please - from UK 😉
Grace looked a bit like Julia Roberts
Just get to fly this plane on MSFS - New subscriber for sure, happy flying.
Thanks so much for following along! If you're able to...get back out there and fly again. It's what we call a No-regret decision. If not now, then when you're able.
I'll pass along your insights & observations to Grace; she's so much fun.
@@bluemaxsix Sadly my life took several bad turns a few years back - I doubt I ever fly again, so keeping my interest going watching YT, using MSFS, for my practice of systems, IFR - thanks for sharing your journey's & experiance it truely helps us grounded lot now.
Blue Man Six! Responding to your comment about flight sim. I would totally be down to do a video with you and show you my sim. It's a 15k setup with honeycomb alpha/bravo controls rudder pedals a 49" Super Ultra wide and also have quest pro VR. Can fully simulate your hondajet flights and I'm even hooked up to VATSIM so your talking to real ATC in the Sim. I'm a student pilot with 20 or so hours and my boss and I Fly an Sr22 out of KABE (PA). I'm about 10 minutes from KABE. Come on down, I would die to see a hondajet in real life!
Hmmm. Interesting
@@bluemaxsix ill post a video of my setup and a quick flight and tag you
Great job for a new TH-camr !!!! Maybe it’s me, but I can’t make out what you’re saying when atc is talking a lot.
Thanks. Nah, it's not you...audio has plagued me and continues to.
I hope your two daughters are enjoying life in the UK. Any plans to fly to somewhere like Prestwick to pick them up for the holidays!?
Probably not very cost effective. But I do want to make the flight at some point. They really do love living in the UK
Four screens on the video display at once. Your getting to be a video Geek.
Tell the daughter in Scotland that the Royal Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle is coming up and she needs to stream the movie the Da/Vinci /code then visit Rosalyn Church
Hah. Yep. I guess Necessity really is the Mother of Invention. I kept losing cameras at inopportune times so had the idea to show as many views as I could to make up for it.
#4 is in Scotland and loves it. Not sure she'll ever come back. She has a summer internship in Edinburgh right now and I shared your recommendations with her.

Even a 2600 needs a fuel layover in Iceland to get to Edinburgh.
Forgot to add - yes the jet is rated and certified for RVSM, as am I.
I'm here for Lynne. More Lynne.
Trust me brother, we all are. I know the audience
Does your Elite have auto land? If not, will you be able to upgrade to that option?
Can u get an atp rating in the military? How do ratings transfer if they do to civilian flying? Thanks!
Military ratings don't transfer Dept of Defense is the authority vs the FAA. But the FAA does credit the training and hours. Of course you still have to pass all of the written exams and rides.
So here's the better and more complete answer from Carson at Turbine Aircraft Logistics
I understand the confusion surrounding the weight and balance calculations for the HondaJet, especially when it comes to the specific arm and moment values for taxi/run-up fuel.
