- Shirin in Love - Love has no borders and therein lies the premise of the charming, new Iranian-American romantic comedy "Shirin in Love." Nazanin Boniadi plays Shirin, an absent-minded, young Iranian-American living in "Tehrangeles" (the large Iranian community in Los Angeles) with her overbearing mother and empathetic father. Despite being engaged for years to a successful Iranian plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, Shirin finds herself breaking loyalty and tradition when she falls in love with a mysterious young man who lives in a lighthouse in northern California. As her secret unravels and cultures clash, Shirin discovers what it ultimately means to be true to herself.

Glad I watched ! Enjoyed it a lot ! Reminds me of my 2nd marriage. Divorced 7 years before met my future 2nd wife , Job struggles and financial problems. Working at the time as a medical courier for Quest Diagnostics. Part of my route thru downtown Los Angeles, included a family-owned clinic in industrial area, they were very nice people , immigrants from Iran. 3 times a week stopped there for pick-ups., like 10 minutes in and out. Only brief chats, but they got to know me over 3-4 months, in 2003.They learned my cheerfulness came from engagement to my 2nd wife-to-be and were so happy for me when our wedding date approached. I was barely more than a stranger to them, but for some reason they really liked me. And I could hardly believe it when they said ,"We have something extra for you to pick up today." They handed me a envelope with a wedding card, and a check for $ 600 ! I'm a little ashamed I lost track of their address, and their names. This was such a wonderful ,un-expected gift from this lovely Persian family ! It was truly very helpful and So kind !

It does have a nice storyline. But I personally couldn't bear the cheating part. You could fall in love with someone else while you're in a relationship, but to kiss and sleep with them is just morally wrong. That scene might seem romantic or lovely for some people, but it's subtly promoting that cheating is a normal thing when you're not happy with your relationship. 😅 Just a random conservative Asian person sharing my thought.
Kikyo Trafalgar It’s not cheating, just being true to oneself. If you can’t bear with what a woman can show to make herself true, even if it means having a sexual relationship with others whole not yet married, then you should probably be a Philosopher than in a relationship.

She was not married yet. She didn’t cheated on him. She just was honest to herself to not to get marry with a man that was their old childhood friends or was recommended from her mom, rich or... . If you call it a mistake, She avoided to make a bigger mistake for her years ahead like her dad did.
I think the most morally incomprehensible thing to do is getting married to someone you don't love just to appease some one or people. Marriage is a very sacred affair between two people in love and not a forced co op

Hi, if you haven't seen Mississippi Masala yet check it out, it came out in 1991 and I watched it on here TH-cam twice..I also watch a lot of Bollywood movies and Akshay Kumar is my favourite Indian male actor and I like very much watching movies when he and Katrina Kaif acts together.

The theme of the movie is a rehash of every romantic comedy ever made. Absolutely nothing original about it. The only reason I watch it is because she was hot. And I really enjoyed the scenery.

Didn't expect much at the beginning but this turned out to be an incredibly fun movie. Not on the same level of My Big Fat Greek Wedding or Gypsy Woman, but still a very good movie, with interracial marriage for a subject. It was a pleasant surprise to see the wonderful comedian Miraz Jobrani as an actor here. Two thumbs up!
The father is the one who learned the lesson of love. He got swept away and into love by the mother who was escaping marriage falling in love with the one she loves most. He broke my heart.
Cool Comedy Romantic. I definitely had an American Hollywood Vibe to it. It was filled with so many "Cliches" from other Romantic Hollywood movies. She was a Winona Ryder look-alike, and he was Ethan Hawk! lol. Overall light romantic, and entertaining.
