It's very interesting to see the differences between theses tech leaders. Thanks for putting all these together. There's certainly a big difference between them. Some are clearly standouts, while others not so much. It would be interesting to hold a vote or an open stack-rank them only by their presentations here.
So far, Schmidt, Hastings, Tolia and Green hit me as a cut above.

I understand many are upset. But honestly, logically, follow the timeline. She out of pure luck joined google. This "luck" happen stance pushed her into an executive role. People in SV are obsessed with Google on the resume -- so BAM, now she is your CEO. Vision? She mentions IN THIS INTERVIEW - she just asked around Yahoo what to do next. Literally - managing by group think.
So. Make sure, when you hire, get someone with Google on their resume....
Don't forget to get someone to throw on a few covers of magazines for publicly

How to screw up a company 101 and still make 100's of millions of dollars.
Google did the right thing by hiring Eric Schmidt as CEO. Yahoo did the wrong thing by hiring Marissa Mayer as CEO. They should have hired someone experienced like Eric Schmidt as CEO.
You did the wrong thing waiting for the results to cast judgment. You should've done the smarter thing and spoken leverls of scope inward on what the pros and cons were between the varying scenarios of those two companies and had something more substantial to say than paraphrasing the shallowest comments that were here before you.
She is really great and very talented. All these tech leaders look a lot more comfortable here.

Marissa Mayer is a prime example of the difference between a CEO and a visionary founder. Yahoo failed because it needs a visionary!

@@erich9779 At her level accomplishments are measured in stock price, revenue growth, market share(where applicable), innovation and employee satisfaction. By every measure she was a failure. Ultimately she was forced to resign with a big severance package.
As for her tenure at Google, her coworkers there didn't like her either and she was forced out of the company.

I could do a better job than her. I also yell at sports games and sort of jerk my muscles while watching, pretending like I'm one of the athletes. I look around to make sure no one sees when it happens or pretend I was reaching for something, probably a beer or chili dip. Then I shake my head... because I would've not done the thing that made the mistake.... goodness gracious I can do better than what I observe, especially after watching it unfold.

Because she is worth half a billion dollars even though she ruined one of the major tech companies of the internet age. Who in the late 90s would predict Yahoo is dead in 2017.
Yahoo was once offered to get acquired by Microsoft for over 60 billion dollars. Through some executives and Marissa's era of the company it tanked and ended up selling to Verizon for around 4 billion.
Some of her management policies and her decision to acquire tunblr for 1.1 billion dollars were highly criticized
