- A reaction to a recently released (February 2021) video which features, for the first time on TH-cam, Angelina Jordan's version of the Charlie Chaplin song "Smile," as part of the soundtrack for a documentary. Some parts of the song are partially obscured by dialog and other sounds. I also react to a short snippet of her recording that song. That short video had been available for some time. This is mainly a reaction to the newly released full version of this song, not the short snippet of it that had been available earlier. My original version of the description did not make that clear..

Chris, I saw your comments and I understand your reaction. I, too, think the lalala and humming are sensational moments but the overriding point I was making is that Smile is a classic song and if Angelina has an opportunity to sing it in it's entirety it will become something never to be forgotten. The emotion generated in her version is off the charts.
I would certainly love to hear a complete version!

My sentiments exactly! I am battling stage IV ovarian cancer and heard from my oncologist yesterday that my bone marrow can’t handle the maintenance medication I am on right now. What keeps me going is listening to Angelina singing this song...over and over and over again. No matter what she sings she always makes me feel better but this song in particular. Thanks for sharing. X

Chris, I am a mess right now. Throughout my whole life, whenever I have heard someone sing “Smile”, I tear up. But now, hearing Angelina’s version, I am sitting here like a blubbering idiot because it is the most beautiful, emotional, heart-tugging version of it I have ever heard. As much as I would love to hear her do a complete recording of it, I don’t know if I could stand it. Can something be so beautiful that it is too much to bear??
I'm right there with you, Robert, this is one of my favourite songs. Ever since I heard that short bit from her recording this I've dreamed of hearing the entire song. I really wish I could get a clean version of this song so I could play it every night.
Amazing. Because she's already in our hearts it only takes mere seconds to set us off. I've been singing this song to myself for my entire life and I believe it is the first song I memorized all the lyrics. And, to hear Angelina sing it like no one else in the world, well, like you, I just fall apart.
In our lives if we have been lucky enough to experience true love, that is wonderful. The love we feel about Angelina is something that cannot be measured. How fortunate we are to see and listen to her sing to us. She has to record Smile in it's entirety so that all people, wherever they are from, can listen and enjoy this classic by Charlie Chaplin.

In the TV program "The View" (2014) in the USA ,the Presenter asked her "What do you like to do for fun"?, she said "singing " ,In fact she did realy mean it; in all the sense of the word.There is not even one rendition where she does not deserves admiration.Is so fascinating and impeccable that makes her UNIQUE.

Many thanks once again Chris for reacting to these lesser seen videos. Beautiful vocals indeed!! In my younger days, I often did racing doubleheaders, going to the thoroughbreds in the afternoon at Belmont, then the standardbreds (harness racing) at Roosevelt Raceway. Each year, Roosevelt would host the International Trot and most years there would be at least one horse entered from Norway. I imagine the Norwegians love their harness racing but certain they love Angelina even more.

If Republic Records ever releases an album dedicated to these emotionally provoking songs,
they should include a box of tissues with each one they sell. Much of the public listening to an
album in this genre will definitely feel tears welling up and dripping from their eyes.
Heck, We have been waiting for a album ever since AGT Champions, I had even hoped or a Christmas album, I'm going to have "It's Magic" worn out.
I think you should just let the whole dedication version just play thru without interrupting or altering the volume , because you can hear her humming in the background in that part as the vocals play over ..it is a dedication that she has done the vocal track to. ... it’s sung in a context ... .. I think it’s a marvellous dedication clip for Hansen, not to mention an absolutely beautiful rendition by Angelina .

Chris, Angelina's voice in these two short recordings, with the second accompanying her beautiful images, is so calm, deep and enveloping that it's like drinking a gorgeous hot rum punch on a winter's evening, it warms you up inside and out and while simultaneously exalting you. I adore her voice infinitely! 🤗 ❤️

So...your “cover photo”? Since when did she get so darn beautiful. She is absolutely stunning. Is this makeover following her signing the big recording contract?
It is hard to believe she is only 15 in that picture, She looks like a 25 year old model, or movie star. And it is a classic beauty like Audrey Hepburn, or Grace Kelly, or Princess Diana. And what makes it even harder to believe is I saw her back in 2014 when she was just a little tyke maybe 4 ft. tall with missing teeth at her audition. God has certainly blessed her in many ways.

I would take a minute of Angelina singing over a lifetime of most other singers.
It is easy to hear the jazz style she is famous for.
firemedic5100 Angelina is a Jazz Goddess. She will go down in history as one of the all time Jazz greats. But she can do much, much more with that magnificent , versatile, smoky, raspy, voice. As the lady said to her after her audition at Norway's talent contest "You have been blessed with a gift from a Higher Power" and she pointed up.

Chris - I find myself regularly going down the AJ rabbit hole. I ask myself if I am becoming obsessed. This leads me to ponder the bigger question: Is this ultimately about my need for an obsession, rather than the artist in question (?)
☺️ I asked myself this question about if I had become obsessed with her. I didn't watch at TH-cam much, before this girl. I'm mostly in to rock, like AC-DC(for 36 years and still counting🤘) but Angelina gives me something unexplainable. I've watched and listened to her for so many hours now. She is just outstanding. She gives me chills, tears in my eyes, makes me proud of her and so on. My conclusion is to just enjoy 🤩
@@oddbjrnvullum3914 That I find odd the "feeling proud of her". I do not have that. I admire her work and it can be occasionally inspiring. However, the central point I was making was that, were it not AJ, would I simply find another rabbit hole to explore, because I require something to obsess over (?)
I forgot to mention it, but I'm Norwegian, and been following her since NGT, when she was 7-8 years. Her voice and the way she makes you feel the songs is what separate her from other singers. Many people can sing well, incredible belts and very powerful, but mostly they don't create feelings in you when they perform . Watching her evolution from then to now, makes me feel like I know her somehow, and that's what make me feel proud.
What I also meant to say, was that I don't think you find this package in any other rabbithole ☺️ I've never been very found of jazz, but when it comes from Angelina....🥰
