You are in the right place to be living in China, Stu. The way you care and look after your parents is very Chinese indeed. Lovely family, lovely people :-). All the best from NZ
Hello, I am a Chinese college student. I am doing research on the effectiveness of overseas Internet celebrities in spreading Chinese stories. I need to interview several overseas audiences for an in-depth interview, mainly focusing on why I watch these videos and whether these videos have an impact on China’s impression. Improvements: Can you accept my interview? If possible, please leave your contact information. I will be very grateful.
So Macanese egg tarts are a bit different from the pastel de nata in Portugal. Egg tarts were first introduced to Macau by Andrew Stow, a British pharmacist who became a baker. After having the original in Portugal, he returned to Macau and experimented with his own Macanese version. He proceeded to open Lord Stow’s Bakery in Coloane in 1989 and their popularity in Macau soared. Lord Stow's Bakery is now a chain and expanded to places like Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Japan! In 1999, Andrew sold his recipe to KFC so they too could sell them (which they do for their Asia market like Singapore). Andrew sadly passed away from an asthma attack in 2006, but his family continues his legacy. There are also Guangzhou-style egg tarts, derived from English custard tarts which originated from Guangzhou's trade with European powers in the early 20th century. For the history of the original pastel de nata: They were originally created by monks at the Hieronymites Monastery in the Belém district of Lisbon before the 18th century. At the time, monasteries used large quantities of egg-whites for starching clothes, such as friars and nuns' religious habits. It was quite common for monasteries to use the leftover egg yolks to make cakes and pastries, resulting in the proliferation of sweet pastry recipes throughout the country. In the aftermath of the Liberal Revolution of 1820, following the dissolution of religious orders, the monks started selling pastéis de nata at a nearby sugar refinery to bring in revenue. In 1834, the monastery was closed and the recipe sold to the sugar refinery, whose owners in 1837 opened the Fábrica de Pastéis de Belém which still exists to this day!
A filial son , rarely seen amongst western people of such profile , bringing his parents out for a tour and enjoying the sights , culture and foods . Well done , your kids will reciprocate your kindness.
Love seeing your parents! They are so lovely 😍 Can't stop laughing at the part... meimei tookaway the milk pudding Bobu was eating, and Bobu kept staring at the bowl 😅

Very good video, love to see your daddy eating!! So Delicious !! Been to Macau 2 times but didn't go to the restaurant, We must go when we are in Macau again , wishing everyone safe and healthy always !! Cindy from Singapore 😊😊😊
Portuguese and Chinese cultures go so well together! Love the Portuguese-style cobblestone pavement in the old center of Macau at 5:04! Inspired by Roman mosaics, the cobblestone pavement developed as we know it today in the 18th century during the rebuilding of the city of Lisbon after the earthquake of 1755. It was an ingenious way of reusing the earthquake rubble as Lisbon was covered in limestone and basalt. Stone cubes created decorative black and white patterns adorning pedestrian and public areas without the use of mortar. Of course once they started doing this in Lisbon, they wanted to do it in their colonies like Macau! Copacabana Beach in Brazil famously has this style, though they did this at Copacabana in the 1930s after Brazil declared independence in 1822. The Eiffel Tower and Westminster right across from each other...the road in the middle really is the English Channel 😂. And who knew it was so easy to walk from Paris to Venice lol. The cool hotel at 17:42 is the Morpheus, the first exoskeleton free-form high-rise, inspired by Chinese jade carving! The statue at 5:54 is Luís de Camões who is considered a national icon in Portugal for being their greatest poet. The day of his death in 1580, June 10th, is Portugal's national day. The Ruins of Saint Paul's was originally built in the late 1630s and it was one of the largest churches in Asia at the time, however the reason it became ruins is because of a fire during a typhoon in January 1835. Japanese craftsmen expelled from Japan for being Christians in 1587 worked on Saint Paul's! The religion would remain banned in Japan until the 1870s.

Welcome to Macau. Your parents are lovely and I can tell your dad really enjoyed the food😂
