I love that Tetsuo Hara, the artist for Fist of the North Star, did the illustrations for this Slam Masters. That gives this game that extra shot of mega testosterone!

That's one of the game's highlights. I wish Capcom worked again with manga/anime authors in design/illustration. Not that Capcom's own talents aren't good enough (far from that), but that would be a nice change.

I’ve always really like this game. In fact I like it better then the first one. People hate on it because it’s not a wrestling game like the first one was and is instead a straight up fighting game, but I love it. Probably because I’ve always liked fighting games way more than wrestling games.
Same for me, I kinda like the 1st game too, but this one was just taking the wrestling theme and throwing certain stuff out of the window to make it a competent (and great) fighting game that REALLY deserves better, I hope it eventually gets revived just like how randomly we're going to get Warzard (Red Earth) and other games in the upcoming fighting collection (which for some stupid reason has Hyper Street Fighter 2 when THAT game fitted better in the previous Street Fighter Collection... not that I really complain to be honest, but still...).

A lot of people see it as "just another mediocre fighting game". Look up a youtuber named Top Hat Gaming Man's video on it and look at the comments. Personally i've always really liked it.

This game is kind of like a bizarre mixture of the old Street Fighter games, Marvel vs Capcom and an actual wrestling game, it's incredible, my main dude there was Jumbo.

Scorpion and Black Widow were always two of my favorite designs from Capcom's 2D era. Would have loved to see them get some modern love somehow, or even for Slammasters to pop up in that upcoming collection.
It isn't simply underrated, it's relatively unknown. I just happened to come across it at Blockbuster one day and decided to check it out since Super Metroid was already rented out.
Useless trivia. The character Gunloc appeared in an Street Fighter game...kinda. *Street Fighter the Movie the Game* (arcade version) has a character called *Blade* one of General M.Bison Troopers. In Blade's ending, it is revealed that he was actually Gunloc. Many years later Capcom did an updated look for Blade for the SFV site and made him canon. While, Gunloc is not mentioned in Blade's bio, his weight, height, blood type and even Likes are the same as Gunloc.

This game was the sickest. I hope it makes it to Capcom Classics Collection with netplay - it's HIGHLY underrated and super fun, and I wish it got a sequel. This is where Haggar gets his MvC3 moves from!
I never had the chance to play this game BUT I love the idea, recently I was playing old wrestling games and I made some of the people for a laugh, would love to see something done with these. Also I love how Justin's glasses are a bit off centre lol great video

I noticed the fireball with the hair guy is an old wrestling trope of spitting ink in the eyes of the opponent. The jumpy state is supposed to simulate blurred vision on your part. Also did you notice your guy's fireball is a Spiderweb which attracts your opponents to you as well as damage them.
I remember that when I played the first one it seemed like a pain xD then I tried this one and it felt much better. I also think I would have liked to see some of these characters in Street Fighter instead dumb characters like El Fuerte. I hope that in SF6 they include Haggar once and for all.

This just reminds me of back when Marvel vs Capcom Infinite's DLC characters were leaked and there were more Marvel characters listed than Capcom characters. For a solid month or so I was CERTAIN that the listing for Black Widow was in reference to this game and we were getting creepy xenomorph wrestler as DLC. Like why would there be more Marvel Characters than Capcom characters in this crossover game?

aight... so one night over a decade ago, I got high as all hell and booted this up on emulator... I swear that might've been the absolute most fun I've ever had in my life lol. I was having waaay too much fun with this game lol. there's just something so unique about this game and the OST is fucking amazing.

I would love it if the Wraith showed up in SF6's roster. He would even serve as a good rival to Dhalsim as the villain's mystical source. Plus with all his voodoo gimmick, he could have neat supers will he summons dead Capcom villains like Wesker, Belger, and Lorenzo.

Man, it's a shame we don't see any of the Slammasters in a Capcom Crossover fighter. As much as I love Mike Haggar and Alex we could certainly use more powerhouse/grappler characters. Hell, a high-flying luchador-style fighter would also be a nice change of pace. ^^
