Finally another Fluke Friday! I've got a 175 and 179 myself and they are good and robust meters. As for the backlight color, Fluke used to have green backlight on their meters (this is not specifically a China thing) but at some point they changed this to the blueish/white color, which is much brighter. I have had a 177, 179 and 87 III with green backlight but the ones I have now all have blue/white backlight.
Yes I did the video adding the backlight to the 175. My 175 had accuracy meeting the spec of the 177, so once I added the backlight button it was effectively a 177, I was lucky that mine had the backlight LED's installed, as you said not all of them have it.

Yes you have a good point there, i was using a new paste i never did before, it turned out to be more agrassive as the one before. looking back, i should have taped over the lettering. i messed up here a bit.
Hurray - Fluke Friday! Nice repair and clean-up, Tony. Fluke should sponsor your channel. On the resistor repair, I would have cleaned out the pcb hole and used a bit of component lead to give a bit more strength, but you probably won't be tossing it in the tool kit too often. Regards, David
Can you tell me the ingredients of those wiping cloths, or an equivalent available in N. America? I'll try to clean my S-38 when my sink is empty! Windex, then WD-40, right? I have heard of using VIM but that seems harsh. 73
The white paste i use in the fleud form of VIM.. be very carefull only doing the rubber. this new brand i used now it too agressive and i damaged the lettering, or should have taped that off. the clotes did not work that well.. i would not know an equivalent. is smels the same as a spray liquit for kitchen use. lemon and bleach

To avoid Scratch you can use kitchen degreaser (spray) works great!!
Try it out first on a small spot off course

Hi Tony, could have masked the face before scrubbing. The text does look damaged when compared before after, and the gray is more matt. Regards.
