    I forgot mention in the video that Sony lent me the Sony A7C II camera to help me make this video. No money was exchanged and they have no say on the content of my video.

      @@BeyondTheGame_E I work for the Portland Sea Dogs baseball team (AA affil. of the Boston Red Sox). I started out as a camera operator, and now I am directing for the MiLB and MLB channels since graduating with my bach's in May. It's a sweet gig, but I miss being close to the action and on the field. The skills of broadcast camera operating don't entirely translate to what you and many other creative-focused people do, so thats my goal. Being a videographer for a major league team or in boxing/martial arts is the dream.

    Thoughts on the rolling shutter performance on the A7IV and A7C II for sports video? Lots of reviewers urge people to stay away from these cameras for sports videos given their slow rolling shutter, but creators like yourself prove that it's possible to work with them. Curious what your take on that is or whether you have best practices to work the sensor readout speed. Great stuff!

    • @BeyondTheGame_E
      @BeyondTheGame_E  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Personally I’ve never ever felt like rolling shutter was holding me back on any camera I tried, including the zv-e10, and I’ve never heard anyone say that their great shot was ruined by rolling shutter. It is technically a problem but it will most likely never affect you.

    • @pckbls
      @pckbls 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Rule of thumb for both of the A7IV and A7C II: Always record in APS-C crop mode when filming fast paced content. It's the only way you get 4k50/60 on those cameras anyway. Sensor readout time in that mode is much faster than in full frame mode and rolling shutter is barely noticable that way. In those very rare occasions where you still see it and want to get rid of it, software like Sony's Catalyst Browse or the Open Source equivalent GyroFlow can leverage the gyro metadata embedded in the camera files to compensate the rolling shutter effect. I'm using my A7C II for filming motor sports and rolling shutter never has been an issue for me.

    • @LaloRacer1
      @LaloRacer1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@pckbls Bro I finally got the A7IV and when I realized APSC mode almost entirely reduces rolling shutter, it became a game changer. Plus, APSC mode does a 1:1 readout in 1080p instead of pixel binning so the Full HD looks miles better than in full frame. That's wild because it just added a whole new level of versatility to this camera. Now I need to get some wide lenses to account for the crop factor.

    • @pckbls
      @pckbls 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LaloRacer1 Cannot say anything regarding 1080p. 99% of the time I film in 4k50 on my Tamron 28-200mm lens which is perfect for my use cases. Glad that you're happy with your camera as well!

    Is there a reason you don’t really cover the A7S3? Is it due the FX range being pushed more by Sony now? I’ve noticed it’s also not in any of your Amazon lists.

    • @BeyondTheGame_E
      @BeyondTheGame_E  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don’t cover the A7SIII because I’ve never had the chance to use it. Which is also why I can’t recommend it. But even if I had used it, I would probably still prefer to recommend the FX3 over it. Not because it’s a bad camera, quite the opposite, simply because it’s an FX3 without certain things that make the FX3 perfect for sports videography.

      @@frexzyprod.5681 Great autofocus is a good thing to have but, in the context of a sporting event, AI tracking won't help you much. Most of the time there are several players in your shot at the same time and there is no way for the camera to know which player you actually want to focus on. So it's often going to track the wrong one or jump from one to the other.

    Hello. Please could you advise me which camera or video camera to buy to record my son's amateur soccer games?
    Taking into account that I am in the stands at a long distance and I need to zoom in on the plays enough so that they look close and all the field players are perfectly focused.
    I currently have a very old Sony camcorder from more than 10 years ago with which I record in 1080P at 50 fps and edit the videos with Final Cut.

      @BeyondTheGame_E  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don’t know much about camcorders so I can’t recommend any. But if you’re looking for a mirrorless camera, I always recommend the Sony ZV-E10 for beginners. The distance won’t have anything to do with the camera though. It’s all about the lens that you’ll choose to go with your camera.

    I think all the newer models (i.e. A7Cii & 6700) have the ability to turn on/use "subject tracking" - are you using this feature? I'd love to see a video on how you would use some of the new AI features for video and setting/set up including custom buttons. Keep up the great content! I didn't think of using the A7Cii for sports videography, but it totally makes sense.
