Im playing Glunch group hug since its release and its really fun. Most of the time I win beacuse people concede of boredom after the 7th boardwipe and the situation I just play enchants that protect me so I can win with Aproach of the second sun, Helix Tower, the cat of the 40 life or the enchant with same effect or with cauldron sniping 50 dmg.
3:22 The Aeves don't actually see each other entering, from the first ruling on its gatherer page: "The storm copies enter the battlefield one by one, followed by the original spell. Each of them enters the battlefield with a number of +1/+1 counters equal to the number of Oozes you control as it enters the battlefield. If you don't control any Oozes at the start, the first one enters with no counters, the second one enters with one counter, and so on."
Arjun the shifting flame was my very first commander. The amount of tech I found for that deck in 2016 makes me overwhelmed when I imagine what he could do in 2024
My unique-y commanders are: - Stangg, Echo Warrior: a Voltron deck that can hit more than 1 player at the same time and can have an artifact/enchantment sacrifice subtheme - Tadeas, Juniper Ascendant: a Selesnya deck that doesn't want +1/+1 counters. It basically has Skulk+Vigilance on any creature with Reach
It's funny that Aeve is the first commander you mentioned. I just ordered a Thrasta to build a mono g storm deck around and Aeve was going in the deck ha
Great video. I bought a Commander Legends box the other day and got Archelos, and have been pondering how best to use it. Since you asked why people hate mill, I'll answer from my perspective: I don't get to play as often as I'd like, and I'm playing on a budget, so when I am playing against mill, and I see the card that I certainly couldn't guarantee I was going to draw, go into my graveyard without ever seeing the light of day, it is deflating. Likewise, since I am playing on a budget, I have less win conditions in my deck, typically, or at least my win-cons are not as reliable, so when they get milled, I just know it is over. Never drawing the card, even if it is the same at the end of the game, *feels* like more *authentic* bad luck. The card being countered as I play it, while still the same at the end of the game, feels more interactive than just "mill X cards". At the end of the day, I don't discourage anyone to play mill, and I don't shame them for it, but I personally don't enjoy playing against any deck that alternative win conditions that dropping your opponent's life to zero, but that's just my preference, and not something I would ever try to impose on others.
i have a mill deck but i also like seeing what people play in their decks but it sounds like your playing a lower power level deck than what others are playing. playing lower level decks can be fun and i have a few but not when the other people are playing a level 8 deck vs what would be a janky but fun level 3-4.
It's just a "feels" thing. If certain cards getting milled means you lose the game, then it means you are either not running enough wincons, recursion or redundancy (or all of those). I believe people are getting tricked by thinking "oh no, I would have drawn this great card". Mill would probably be way less hated if it milled from the bottom, even though the functionality is the same (except for top deck manipulation).
My Archelos deck is built that way. I tend to keep him untapped so not to maked him a target and provide some mild group hug acceleration while i manage to accelerate my land count insanely fast. Stuff like respahe the earth and boundless realms become basically instant game finishers. He makes the abdundance+cultivator colossus a sight to behold, you put all the lands in your deck on the battlefield untapped.
I was introduced to MTG last year with a Ruxa deck, so now that commander holds a special place in my heart, and I've recently remade it with a stronger token theme
I already did Arjun Mill ☝, it is a very hard deck to make work (balance between storming and control to start your gameplan) but it is very fun. Tips: don't try to make the perfect play when you storm off, just play fast and dont miss mill trigger 😉
Even your long episodes are so fun because of all the useful information and ideas you share. Have more guests on like this, very cool and it shows a unique side to your content in addition to the solo work. Keep rocking dude!
As someone who has been playing Archelos for years, remember, if you play Archelos and your opponent is a Blitz deck (like Henzie) don't you EVER keep Archelos tapped during their tun stopping them from blitzing. They will consider you such a problem that the moment they realize they can still normally cast their creature and wait a turn to attack they will destroy you with overwhelmingly big creatures. Your only hope would be to assume that they cannot even consider to normally cast a big creature.
Seems a bit overdramatic. Authority of the Consuls and Blind Obedience, amongst many other cards, also make creatures enter tapped - and they're not creatures, so they're harder to remove.
@@Nr4747 I mean the comment was a bit theatrical, but It happened to me various time. They were slightly newer players so I guess they felt the minor inconvenience of being a turn slower as the greatest threat at the table. And blitz Is a mechanics that makes you feel the enters tapped even more. Mostly my experience Is that if you make everything enter tapped, you will be the enemy even if you are not doing anything dangerous. Meanwhile if Archeolos Is untapped everyone Is mappy and they may close and eye on anything you do
I've actually been saved from this because another player put an Intruder Alarm into play just before the Blitz player's turn. Henzie was hunting for Archelos's kneecaps, and because we all untapped, I could block 😂
My Arjun deck is one of my favorite decks to play. I embrace the chaos and let Arjun decide on how he wants to win. The last game it played voltron at first, then go-wide, and finally won via mill. He also like to imploded, but he is always fun to play.
Oskar rubbish reclaimer. No more gatekeeping lol. I feel like you guys overlooked how dirty that ability is if you have blood tokens. Pay 1 to cast any card at instant speed then draw a card. 🤯
Play it however you want, all you need is blood tokens and everything has flash. Cast Phyrexian obliterator to defend after attackers are declared or aura thief. Cast a board wipe right b4 your turn then cast oskar for cheap
I have an Arjun deck that I call ‘Arjun take the wheel’ cause I’m just as likely to deck myself as I am to win via some card draw triggers. I’d love to see Eddie’s deck list
Good old Archelos The Lands of "Tap a creature you control: add mana of any color" are also a must in this deck. Cryptolith Rite and Vehicles are staples, but because I could control how creatures where going to RTB and all the shenanigans with tapping and untapping creatures (sometimes each turn), I also put one of my favorite janky mechanic; Inspired. After I did everything I wanted in my turn, then tapping Archelos for some random thing or "Purple mana" the casting one creature with inspíred to cash immediately with an untapping effect. Also Royal Assasin and False floor . Outside of that one, my most unique decks are a Izzet coinflip one, a Izzet attractions one, a Sliver Overlord one and a Marchesa TBR one in which I wanted the creatures to do almost everything reaction wise, so they only have 1 instant. And a Mairsil deck where I wanted THE commander to do everything reaction wise so it have 0 Instants.
18:00 I wish my friends felt that way. I have a low-mid power Wrexial deck where I offensively mill in hopes to play cards from my opponent's graveyards (mainly instants and sorceries) and I have found some people to find me as the immediate threat when I have nothing on the board. Kind of makes it not fun to play in a friendly session, which is all I play for anyway. My win conditions are few and far between, I just like to create chaos on the board.
I recently converted my Roalesk deck to an infect deck that uses tutors to find one of the two spells that put an infect counter on all opponents and then just kill the table with proliferation
So I have a Slime Against Humanity deck but I actually use Alaundro from baulders gate to consistently put them in exile to be cast, that way it buffs the cards +1s due to them being suspended, and I’ll use cards like freed from the real and other untap shenanigans to do it as many times as I can in one turn. It also sees cards like Lier Disciple of the Drowned and test of talents so when I cast a Slime, I can counter it with test of talents, lier prevents it from Being countered but the second effect of test lets me exile as many cards with the same name as I want so I can really buff up a slime before it gets cast
I am so, so shocked to see an "Arjun, The Shifting Flame" deck that, in today's card environment, does not include the new Karlov creature card called, "Living Conundrum." Hexproof, if you would draw a card while there are no cards in your library you may skip that draw, and as long as there are no cards in your library it has base power and toughness of 10/10 and gains Flying and Vigilance. It's the perfect card for an Arjun deck that would completely protect you from drawing yourself to a loss as long as it stays on the field, which with Hexproof makes such a feat much easier to accomplish.
I build an Arjun deck very similar to the one you showed and hated it at first. It felt too simple and easy to win once you have your engine and therefore it also wasnt fun for the playgroup. Then i just threw Teferis and Lab Maniac out and now its my favorite one! Its so versatile and you never know whats gonna happen and how you might win. Sometimes you win with Sphinx Tutelage, sometimes with Robe of the Archmagi, sometimes you run everyone over with a bunch of krakens generated with ominous seas. And please for the love of god and happy commander games - do NOT put in Narset + wheel combos!
Roalesk player here, simply copy/clone him then put the +1/+1 counters on the OG Roalesk and simply win with big flample. Other counters matter also. Charge, loyalty, poison, have fun with it!
Arjun fan here, and the decks you can build around him are WILD. Also, you don't "almost" deck yourself playing Arjun. You will. Multiple times. Love it all the same.
The problem with mill is people play it when they don’t have lines to win immediately. And it feels cheeky when they mill me for fourteen or something and i get a massive resource boost and win because something they did. Happens all the time when I play jund.
You get the death triggers. Myriad doesn't remove legendary. It exiles the tokens at end of combat. That does not say 'if this token would leave the battlefield, exile it instead'. The tokens get removed at the end of combat, so if the token copies die before that trigger, then they do in fact die. Myriad triggers, makes a bunch of token copies that are all legendary. You get to choose which copy to keep (legend rule) and the rest get sacrificed to state based actions. Then you put all the ETBs and Death triggers on the stack in the order of your choosing.
Thinking of a yuriko deck with hidden commander satoru umezawa. I want to be able to interchange both commanders as I please. The decks power level may take a hit but Idm as it keeps it fresh
Pineapple is possibly the best topping aside from pepperoni in my opinion. Its perfect with most sauce and cheeses. Fruit and cheese has veen an iconic thing for over a century. Idk why ppl act like its not great.
To this day my favorite budget deck is the Nylea artifact creature storm deck you built. I bet with some minor tweaks and toss in Aeve that deck starts to look degenerate in a casual game.
